Hello, in autumn 2008 I brought my 9-5 Aero for inspection to a Berlin Saab workshop – there despite my note no wear of the control chain was detected. But now due to appropriate demand nevertheless, also misignition of the ignition cassette, defective hose crankcase ventilation. For control chains the gentlemen want 2500Euro, for the hose 80Euro and the ignition cassette 400Euro repair costs. – I read quite extensively here – but Are the prices (especially for the control chains) normal or completely turned off? Have read here for the control chain prices of 300Euro – but perhaps a little more exchange. And how can one establish a worn-out control chain regularly – by hearsay or is there a prescribed measurement procedure? Today the workshop owner personally informed me that there is no such prescribed measurement method^^. Thanks for your efforts and hints already now! Stefan

Manta B barn find FIN welded in, what to do?
Hello forum! A few days ago, a friend who bought a rest yard pulled a Manta B GT/E out of a barn. There are no papers or similar information about the car. During the inspection, we noticed that the FIN was welded under the carpet on a 120×60 piece of sheet metal next to the passenger seat (bad). Since I am an enthusiastic screwdriver I played with the idea to make the car fit again, but this was due to the not original FIN The sheet metal is only dotted in and smeared with body seal. The numbers have probably been beaten into the sheet itself with hit numbers. Anyway, there is no lock sign in front of and behind the number (Raute or similar) Is the car worthless? What can you do now best? Demonstrate and scrap the body body and get a Rokarosserie with a letter? Is there still a FIN in the vehicle somewhere else? Don’t have any types either? Sign found in engine compartment. MfG, FaberCastell92

Wait/renew the drum brake at the rear of the Manta B
After having reworked the brake at the front of my manta, I now go to the . I take apart a drum brake for the first time and would like to work with this topic on the structure and the functioning of the brake gradually. I have attached a graphic to this article, in which I marked the components of the brake. I would be happy if someone – if I had interpreted something wrong – would point that out to me. I will use grinding paper to use the brake drum. inside (system surfaces of the brake pads) free as evenly as possible from the coarse rust. Since the wheel brake cylinders can be obtained very cheaply, I would renew them precautionarily. And since the pads also do not cost the world, a change would also be useful here. Thanks in advance once again for your help.

Kadett E 1.8 S Automatic Jubilee
Hello Opelaner, I have been driving my cadet E 1.8 S for 1 year now and am very satisfied with it. I notice that very little original parts are available especially for my model. Key numbers 0039//715. Does someone happen to know how many vehicles of this type are still currently on the road? I have the impression that I may have the last vehicle of this model. Who else owns this vehicle? Would I be happy to get to know more proud owners of these cars? My goal is to turn this car into a classic car.

Set Doors
Hello together, the front doors have probably hung up with my Audi in the course of the years. In the Doityouself book it is written that you should adjust the cones on the caroseries to it. I have tried it with rust releaser, light on it and a 15ner key. Now one round and the other almost round. Both have not been moved. Is there another solution? Do I really have to loosen the hinges and fix the door again? Thanks to you see you …

Change air filters for the M272 (R280 R350)
Hello dear R community, the change of the air filter is mandatory only every 80.000km, but without any problems to do it yourself. First the engine must be ‘unloaded’, to remove two hex screws SW13 on the right and left, pull off the front rubber seal and remove the rubber buffer from the middle of the windscreen wipers to the water flow. Then the upper cross-carrier can be simply pulled forward over the engine (picture 1). Then I try not without me to bed again the SLK R171 homepage of Mr. Günther Lang. There the change of the air filter with the M272 is described very well.
