Have such a small dream. In the next one or two years I would like to add a new/almost new MX5 as a pure summer car, keep it up to the oldtimer and beyond. However, I have the fear that a new car can no longer become so old. For pure durability reasons it should become the big engine 😉 To an Asian manufacturer I would be most likely to build such a durable vehicle today. One would probably have to expect one or two replacement motors per decade (sorry I can’t stop now) What do you think about it?

Hello dear community, have bought me above all vehicle as demonstration car. According to data sheet the acceleration 6.8 sec should be 100. What should I say. So far I do not notice much of it. At slightly higher speeds you notice already more thrust than with the 1.5 (had I for 3 days as a rental car) but below (first and second gear) not very much comes. I would say about the same as with the 1.5. The car currently has about 650km on the speedometer, which is why I also do not have it over 4000 rpm hunt until it has entered. But still it would have to come down or not? The funny thing is, I also had a test drive with a 160 HP RF before the purchase. There was a similar force development. But I assumed that this would be better with the stronger g184. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello together, I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. I have the following problem now with my MX-5 NB year 2001: On Friday morning I got into my car to drive to work. Unfortunately he didn’t jump on at first and it was only a “crack” noise to hear when turning the key. This repeated a few times. However, when another start attempt was made, he suddenly jumped on and did not cause any problems on Saturday and Sunday. Now I wanted to also drive to work again today as usual and suddenly the problem came up again: “Klack” noise at the start. At first, however, the radio and the central locking system went as I turned the key, but this changed quickly, so that after some attempts at starting there was no electricity (no radio, no central locking etc.) I had only reinstalled the battery last summer, because the old battery was defective. So I can’t really imagine that the battery was installed again. Besides, you can’t hear the typical “empty battery noise” either. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be and how I’m doing here best? Thank you in advance. LG, JohnnyJonson

Good day I looked at a MX-5 NB with 80,000 Km built in 2002 for 4000€ at a dealer, I examined it closely and tested it. It came out that after very little performance it occurred to me at 1.1 tons and 110 hp. Not even in the upper thresher range there was really something to feel, it felt rather like a small car with 70-85 hp. I didn’t think about the specified 9-10 sec, then tested it immediately on the highway and from 170 Km/h (GPS measured) it went slowly ahead, after that I had to slow down. What do you think, every MX-5 NB is driving like this? Besides, the gap measurements are not quite right at the front of the bonnet. Furthermore, he already has 4 previous owners, your opinion? Otherwise everything, hardly rust, engine is dry, steering is standing straight and without a game, 1 year warranty and dealer is almost on the doorstep. Unfortunately I did not come to the other test drive, and the purchase decision must now If he falls quickly, he’s probably gone. What do you think I should leave my fingers off it or buy it?
