  • Grate in the exhaust after only two months?

Hello, I bought a Harley Sporty 883 again on 28.05.2008. At the end of the month it has to be for the first inspection. Now I noticed that both exhaust pipes are already rusting inside. Also the washers of the nuts already rust on the footrest. Before I let myself be told about HD anything I would like to know your experiences. Can this be normal after 2 months? I personally do not find it. As an info: I have driven perhaps 2-3 times in the rain, otherwise only in the dry. At night is si e covered, with longer break in the garage. Thank you in advance for your help. LG, JoJo7

  • Reorientation and question on TS(S)M + FOB

Hello, I’m a female from Hamburg about half a century old and I’ve never driven a Harley before, let alone possessed. My bikes were mostly “Japanese” and my current is a Custom XVS 650. But this could change soon because I was allowed to take over from the widow of my deceased neighbor div. motorcycle parts, in return only the garage had to be cleared……I liked to make it. Now I own a lot of parts for the construction a Harley and have already informed me on the internet plentifully about the costs so everything will come to me and whether a construction is worth it. A cost factor is, among other things, the purchase of a control unit, I hope I give this right now and that it is about the TSSM with FOB and alarm. At the Harley dealer this costs already a lot, therefore my question: Can I buy a used one without FOB, this then separately and there is something important about it that I In the bay something used is offered more often. I am happy about information possibly also offers and if everything works there is next year a Harley driver more

  • strange start behavior – 2004 Sportster Custom 1200

Hello together, I wanted to ask if someone here knows the phenomenon or to what extent it is “normal”. Since I don’t have much time to drive, my Sporty is standing most of the time in the garage. If I have not been on the road for a longer time in the summer (more than 2-3 weeks), then I have start difficulties. Not that the starter would turn longer; no, it turns the engine 2-3x and is then “dead”. Meanwhile, in my opinion, the lamp is normally bright (turns it off). unfortunately not). If I put the battery charger on it for an hour, the starter turns completely normal and persistent (one hour on the charger doesn’t make the difference, does it?). With a bridge cable from the car, the motor always starts directly. The battery is an IntAct and now 3 years old. Before that I had the original HD battery, which was just finished after the whole years. If I drive halfway regularly and at least all 2 weeks I don’t have any problems at all. Can the battery be broken again? Would you just connect a maintenance charger permanently? Right next to the stand of the mopped is a socket. Greetings + thanks, Joe.

  • Harley-Davidson: cult brand in need

Quotation: It was a black day for Harley-Davidson. The manufacturer of American cult motorcycles was severely punished by the stock exchange on Tuesday for disappointing quarterly figures. The share price fell by 14 percent until the close of the trade. …. ….. In addition to increased marketing, Harley-Davidson also wants to significantly increase its spending on research and development next year. For this, the company wants to save money elsewhere and plans to reduce 250 jobs. . …. Maybe you should have invested more in quality at the moment and in the last few years. That would certainly have done well for the image.

  • Problem with Sportster 1200 C

Hello HD friends, I did a tour last week. At Tempo 120 the performance suddenly went back at short notice, as if no fuel came into the engine. Shortly afterwards it repeated itself and there were misfires on running band. Quite loud, as if they wanted to shoot me. – Then the engine went off. I had to turn off the Sporty. After about 1.5 hours I left it again and nothing happened. Until it was back to temperature. That started again from the front. The new Manifold gaskets and a new air-flilter turned on me. The whole for limp 220 tacks.. In the hope that everything was ok, I wanted to meet yesterday to Frankfurt for the biker. After I had driven 50 km on the Atobahn, the performance suddenly subsided again, and there were again misfires, which became stronger and stronger until the engine went out again. – I now feel pretty fucked up. I paid for what didn’t have to be and the problem is imme Does anyone have any idea what to do or does anyone know the problem??

  • Harley or don’t you want to?

Hello first of all, first of all, I’m 27, I’m 1.72m tall and I’m doing the A driver’s license. now to ask I’d like a Chopper/chruiser/bobber so in the style of the Harley Iron 883, however, that’s a bit expensive to me. That’s why I’m leaning between the Honda Rebell 500 of 2020 and the Harley Street Rod. What interests me now is how expensive is the maintenance of such a Harley? The Harley would be my absolute limit with almost 8000 and to my second question what is there still so for alternative to that? I thank you already in advance. Friendly greetings

  • Pre-deployed footrest system Experiences Fatboy

Hi, I’m quite big 1,95 and my riding position with the legs is just too steep for me. With the stepping boards I’m there on good 90° or more. I would just like to have the legs further ahead. I now play with the idea of having a pre-set footrest system by Ricks’s (http://www.blmotorparts.de/…/Fussrastenanlagen_3003.html) and wanted to know if anyone already has experience with it. Lt. product description brings this just 2” Inch so good 5cm. I de I will also visit a saddler and ask if he can adjust the seat a little bit to gain a few centimetres. I am looking forward to experiences with the pre-set footrest system and other tips on what I can do to get the legs further ahead and thus have a not so angled seat position. I drive a Fatboy, but I also don’t think that the rests allow a different position of the foot and therefore the legs are just further ahead. Special BJ 12

  • Oil cycle Shovel Year 1981 – Oil swamp in primary

Hello, I have a question about the oil cycle or set-up oil pressure for the primary chain oiler at my Shovel year 1981 (before I try and disassemble everything possible……): I made engine oil change for the start of the season. Old oil from tank drained, primary oil mist residues from primary drained, filter (in-tank filter) removed. Since I had ordered the new filter and had not yet received it, so I wanted to retrofit it a few days later, and my tank cover seal, which was pretty much But it was fine. Since the inspection cover on the primary box was already open anyway, I thought, I leave the engine on for a short time with an open cover and make sure that in the primary box also oil is actually injected into the primary by means of this encoder, you never know……If I have time and desire, I want the pri I had the oil tank cover – without its seal and without oil filter – only temporarily screwed onto the tank. Now it comes: engine runs. No splashes from the oil encoder. engine off. For control times the oil encoder itself and also the clutch basket (through the clutch cover) wiped nicely dry. Engine on again, run briefly, engine off. Result: Everything in the primary remains dry, no oil nebula is removed. My question: I assume that this is because the oil cycle could not build up any pressure because of the not closed oil tank and therefore the oil encoder for the primary box was not supplied (for the engine itself, according to the oil pressure meter, there was almost 50 PSI oil pressure). Hopefully, my assumption is correct and not the oil pump in the bucket. However, this should be rather improbable, because before the -not finished – oil change the primary box gets oil I would be grateful for (settling?) tips. Greetings Shovelix 81

  • complete and safety locks….!!!

Moin, at the meeting we had one or the other discussion about security locks. What is your opinion or what kind of information you have about the topic. Brus arrived with this 7.5 Kg chain lock… What is really good, at least to some extent and what is good for the Arsxx… I know that the claw bands are stuck through frames etc. and transporting the things straight away, but I don’t want to talk about that at all. I need a lock, e in castle which is reasonably light and still offers some security… What I find about SuFu is also partly outdated… Do you know what…??? Greetings chain

  • LCD Dipstick Temperature Level 63002-09

Hello and good day from the sunny south, I have a question about the dipstick oil/level temperature measuring rod : the electronics has already given up the function after 2 years since the housing is not waterproof (condensate). Who has similar experiences are there the electronics also individually? Best regards Werner
