  • Fat Boy 99 ́ Oil pump leaks

Have installed an oil pump repair kit “GASKETS metal, rubber coated” on my Fat Boy EVO, tightened the screws with a torque of 13.5 Nm, but somehow there is always a slight oil sweating (really only a little bit of oil) on the pump housing after a ride about 50 km. Presumably “undeclared” the two long screws that go through the pump housing and are attached under their screw head the pump cover, (just don’t know how to fix it differently) iben) can it be that the oil creeps up through the thread in the block along the screw? Would I have had to seal the screws in some way, or can I still do that? Greeting Peter

  • Review of AMSOIL Synthetics 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil

In search of a better oil for my TC 96 engine, I came across an oil via industry standards and their test methods, which indicates significantly reduced wear values. Furthermore, reduced temperatures and no degradation within the oil exchange intervals were listed. In my research, I even found a comparison between the Harley oil SYN 3 and the AMSOIL, both in 20W-50. I became loud when I read that this oil almost halved the wear factor. The result on the dynamometer: the engine with AMSOIL has more than the engine filled with SYN 3. If you do not take into account the extra power, this means that the friction has been reduced and that the oil has to struggle with lower temperatures than before (less friction – little friction – less friction) and that the oil has to fight with lower temperatures. According to the company AMSOIL 15-20 Fahrenheit. This convinced me to use this oil in my bike. In search of a source of supply I came across the company B&L Motorparts, which sells the oil recently. Amount and price per 1 quart bottle (1 quart) = 0.946 L for 18.20€. Long story short: Since the week before last I have it in the engine, as well as in the primary drive and have driven up to now about 500 km. Admittedly, this is not enough for a comprehensive analysis, abe r anyway, I’m already thrilled. What immediately noticed was the smooth running of the engine, no or hardly any noises of the balancing shaft and its chain. The valve drive, in the middle speed range always good for sounds of the unwelcome kind, is completely quiet. Thus already a success, but it goes even further, if before at exits beyond 25°C outside temperature, an oil temperature of approx. 130° – 140°C set (measured at the measuring rod thermometer), it is today 10 °C less. Also the fuel consumption seems to be reduced, here I can not make a final statement, since too few km. Less temperature and less wear, these were my criteria and they seem to be true. Hello, how would you judge my candle picture? 1340s Evo with Mikuni, K&N air filter and 2 in 2 supertraps each with 18 plates. Candle picture however by stand gas… It runs optimally, but there are misignitions when I take gas away. Thank you!

  • Quirky part on the rear fender Hydra Glide

Hello guys, I’m new here in this forum and I’ve got a Softtail Heritage built in 2011 (model year 2012) this year as a re-starter (long, long time ago Yamaha SR 500). This model is supposed to have been modeled after the old Hydra Glide (from 1949 or so). Now I’ve looked at some photos of these old machines. At the rear fender (see picture) there is such a quirky part that looks like a triple-spolier. Why is the part, pure decoration ? Do you still get something like that today ? Greetings Michi

  • Harley Harman Kardon Radio

Hello, have a Street Glide 06 with Harman Kardon Radio/CD. Works so far, but I see only the red backlight on the display and never know in which mode I am at the moment. Since I don’t have the Street Glide that long yet and the presiding owner has never heard radio or CD (learned rather at the Screaming Eagle Sound) it is difficult to understand whether the display is defective or only adjusted. Can you set or reset the radio/display, if yes – how – because I don’t see any t on the display in which mode I am or is the display defective, if so who can repair it in the Munich area. Unfortunately, it is not clear with the OWNER`S MANUAL, as too many English technical terms are found in it. I am grateful for any helpful answer. Greetings Strupo

  • Vostellung of a fool who has decided to have fun from now on

So, I’m going to say “Griesse euch” and introduce myself briefly: I’m a 58-year-old sloppy, super-sporty and very modest type (neither lawyer nor dentist!), who finally fulfilled a dream and ordered a new HD Dyna Super Glide Custom in black! Comes to the end of next week! Footrests to the front, other handles, other tacho and the corresponding outfit! Old jacket in leather was available!, but new HD-jet helmet, gloves and boots were bought and previously still special -Gymnastics made for the rusted intervertebral discs. Have from now on always 5 ibuprofen with it, so that you can also see my permanent grin (despite fearful back pain) under the helmet. Man, I was so reasonable the last 30 years? Now is the end! I want to have fun and drive every free minute. If one should see me – I am the one who has the fucking resemblance to Clint Eastwood – and that now nobody laughs. Don’t get any fun!
