  • Purchase of a Yamaha R6

Hello dear forum members, I’ve been reading the forum here for a long time now and notice that really nice people are on the road here. I hope you can help me in my case. I want to make my big ticket for the motorcycle this year. I have the A1 but it is not comparable. As a machine I have looked at the Yamaha R1 and the R6. Although the R1 has more power I think that as a newcomer in the class a R6 is far enough. I’m mainly thinking about my lack of experience with such a strong bike as the R1 and to be honest I don’t want to hang dead on the tree after 2 days. So I’m very likely to opt for the R6. Maybe you can give me an opinion about my considerations or review R6 / R1 for beginners. Thank you Sonic

  • Spark plug picture – Problems with cold engine

Hello! My XJ 900 31a (Bj ’83) has been having a lot of problems with starting and running in cold engine lately. Until the machine is at temperature, the engine does not run round (the one or other cylinder does not ignite occasionally, engine often turns low and almost dies off), afterwards everything is great. Every time I clean the spark plugs (with the brass brush the electrodes blank brush) everything is top when driving afterwards. Jumps after 1-2 revolutions, runs also cold nice round, nothing to complain about. But already on the next day’s trip, everything is back to the old one. I changed the candles now on suspicion (replaced with original NGK BPR8ES), because they looked really rocked (the electrodes were actually not bad, distances are set of course). As to be expected with the first ride great. After that again the same problem (though perhaps not quite so bad). Now I tried the Ker by Internet search. In the appendix you can see the old candles after about an hour of highway and highway. The thread is black, the ceramic body and mass electrode are red-brown (reh-brown?) and the main electrode is outside slightly black and white and matte metallic. I have often read that deer-brown is desirable, but there are also voices that emphasize that this is no longer the case today, since these discolorations are only due to lead additives i Can you see problems with the combustion process using the candle picture? Are the discolorations normal and the problem is elsewhere? Thank you very much for any advice! Greetings Mark

  • Choke turns itself on

Hello, I’m new in the forum and also a green beak (3 years) on the bike. I recently added an XJR 1200 (4PU) and am superhappy with it. The only thing that seems strange to me is that once in a while after the start of the choke turns on itself (don’t touch the lever!) It turns to 2500. If I pull the lever a little bit and put it back immediately, it runs “normal” (pronounce ~1000). Furthermore, it sucks off me from time to time (despite warmness). motor and sufficient stationary gas; as prescribed 1050 +-) Can someone give me a tip? Thanks already in advance Greetings from Innsbruck

  • Yamaha XVS650 Stutters while gasping and bangs false ignitions

Moin people, I’m completely new here and would have a problem there. I had a Yamaha XVS650 97’Bj with an open exhaust and a different air. So now to the problem, the machine wanted to go for a walk after about 2Km drive I had to overtake a car of course full gas and Bam it hit a misignition no idea why, after that nothing at all as it has to run the XVS does not take a high gas bangs on only give misignitions while driving, drains off. Only mi t fully drawn choke works with ach and krach but the more gas I want to give the more it starts to stutter and choke. In idle it runs quite ok, just normal. Spark plugs were changed since the old ones were already black and partly no more dry. I am in despair help me ! =( Thanks in advance people =)

  • Drag Star 650, isn’t it?

A wonderful good evening together, I would be very pleased about a few opinions about Drag Star 650. Planned as the first machine of a novice driver, say for me Have the model in mind for a long time, whereby I have to admit freely that this was a decision optics. Even I have unfortunately no idea of all the Tthnic aspects. Now I decided to read a few test reports again, talk to a few people with a clue etc and am now nic á la “bad driving behaviour”,”permanent anger” and “does not come out of the quark” fell quite often. And even the small size should seem rather disturbing, than advantageous. I am itself 1,78 large, at ~70kg Now I stand there and am quite unsure. Maybe rather a Suzuki Marauder? But there should not be all gold, which shines, even more plastic.. I don’t really like the Shadow of Honda so visually. But should well be l by the small cruisers who are with the most performance and better workmanship. What is your opinion on these models, or are there other ones that can be considered if I do not want to exceed a used price of 3500, until all at most 4000? Hope you can help me a little further. Best regards!

  • New here

Moin together I’m new here, would like to introduce myself briefly – and present to everyone a cheerful “HALLO” Bin ein biker der enden 70s-beginning 90s, i.e. the somewhat classical mope’s…simple technique, spokes, etc. After years of break I now want to get back into the beautiful crusen through beautiful landscapes, on a classic moped. I decided there for a 650 yamaha xs but unfortunately not on the current as regards prices. Have a Heritage special 650 at mobile .de for 3.200€ bj. 88 entdecken. what do you have to invest so for an everyday suitable “part”? what do I have to pay attention to? About many tips of you and your experience, I would be happy. until then I wish you all an accident-free season…and lots of sunshine!! best greetings Horst

  • Exhaust welded

Hello. I recently bought a Yamaha XJ 600 51J. Unfortunately, there is a problem on the exhaust in my opinion and for the following reason you don’t see the punched EG number anymore. The exhaust is ORIGINAL and has welded a sheet “adapted to the exhaust” over the entire length around it. So to speak, a coat around the old exhaust. The machine is currently in the workshop and is supposed to get TÜV on Friday. I asked the workshop master there if it is from His answer: No, that’s not a problem as long as it’s not too loud. For old motorcycles (Bj 89) something like this happens because there may not be a replacement. Conclusion: Motorcycle not too loud, so no problem with the TÜV Now I wonder what the police say about it when I am stopped. Is it allowed to make such a change/repair on original parts where the EC number is hidden or removed? MfG Drechsl i

  • Fuel Problenm XV 535

I wanted to do a nice tour today in the nice weather, but only 20 m wide. Then she went out. I tried to hire her again. It did nothing. The starter turned a wolf. Then I tried it with full throttle and without choke. But she ran only with the support of the starter. Then I saw a large fuel puddle under the mopped. It came out under the right Chromei. In the garage I dismantled everything to look. Then I saw the two hoses from the Verga I don’t think there’s any gas coming out anyway. The hoses are stuck open to the Chromei. Why does the fuel get out of where no gas is allowed to come out? Maybe I should clean the carburetors???? Does any of you have an idea?

  • Motor oil

Hello Leuz! I have only been owner of a motorcycle for a few weeks (Yamaha XJ600 BJ.12/96) and try to bring the old car back to the front. I really have some problems and also a question about the engine oil! I bought Castrol Power1 -10W40T now, but one of my old motorcycle buddies said I had to be very careful here, because this oil would be synthetic or at least partial synthetic and the engine can’t handle it that way. It could cause problems with the K I’m glad that I haven’t made the oil change today, but I would like to try the swarm intelligence, which I hope can tell me if it’s okay to tip this oil into my engine or if I have to take something else. Of course I tried the search function, also found some entries, but unfortunately not the answer to my special question! I’m very grateful here for every tip!

  • Turbokit exhaust xv125 Virago Experiences

Moin liebe xv125 Gemeinde I have a Virago 125 bj98 with 11ps Have the already properly remodeled Have got me a turbokit exhaust for the better sound (which I regret quite a bit) I was already too gassed cleaning and setting for more outlet other fumigation but somehow it doesn’t run so properly. She can’t even manage her end speed anymore! I’m already ready to dismantle the thing and reassemble the serial exhaust again. Half a centimeter more outlet the machine can’t handle it? I wanted to ask if someone has had experiences with the exhaust or similar. Mfg Sascha
