Hello, I’m just about to expand my A2 level driver’s license to A and intend to buy a “young” used F700GS or F800GS. I know that there is no objective answer to the question which of the two would be better suited! Nevertheless, I would be happy about a few opinions of people with GS experience!! To me. I have only been riding motorcycle for 3 years and had previously reduced to 48 HP Honda NC 750 X. I am 47 years old and have the dream of For me the speed is not in the foreground when riding a motorcycle. I drive mainly on the weekend, in nice weather smaller tours (usually under 100 KM) mostly without Sozius. Real terrain rides are not possible, gravel tracks can be it already in exceptional cases. But that then also very leisurely. Since I have set a clear price limit I was first sure that it should be a 700er. Reason for this was einfafa The more I deal with the question, the more I think about taking maybe a 800er. Here, however, there is not the 10 HP more in the foreground, but rather the higher seating position (I am 1.86 meters long) and the somewhat more mature, masculine appearance of the 800er. Now I am faced with the fundamental question, for my budget a About 2 years old 700ers with 5-10 TKM mileage to buy, or just a rather 4 years old 800ers with more mileage. As I said, I would be happy about opinions or experiences. Maybe someone was already faced with the same question! Thanks and a lot of greetings Guido

Driving without clutch not harmful??
Hello for now dear two-wheelers! I am Jan and only recently registered in the forum and have a direct question to you. And that is: I got a BMW S1000RR from my father about a month ago (for the passed secondary school degree and my 18th birthday), am very happy, but… I brought it to the workshop, can only drive 48 HP On the way home it happened then: In my youthful lightness I have the one curve probably a little z u sharply, then fell and the clutch lever broke off about 9-10 cm. Then I immediately drove back to the dealer who then told me it was not so tragic, you can switch without the clutch. Since he is the expert, I trusted him of course. Nevertheless *cracks* it while switching and the rear tire blocks partially. Yesterday at the oil change then came the shock: In the waste oil were hundreds of small metal fragments – how can something like this happen? Do you have any tips? My mechanic of trust is on vacation for the next two weeks, is it bad if I drive the next 500 kilometers in that style? Is it pretty annoying that the bike always jerks at the red light until it goes out. Must it always start over again.. Hopefully someone can help me, be totally afraid for my *Baby* greeting, Jan

Charge battery with power station
Hello dear motor-talk-community, the winter is at the door and the annual problem of a cityr with rental apartment without garage is approaching. The good R1100RT has to be wintered. Now I have no space with power socket at my disposal this year. So I can not recharge the battery in the spring. Overbridge or expand before is unfortunately not possible for me, because you have to disassemble the whole motorcycle with this model to get to the battery. My I dee: I charge the battery in spring with a portable power station – connected to the on-board socket. Now the question of the electronic muffle to the community: Is this possible? What do I have to pay attention to? 1000 thanks and many greetings Muhackl

f800r or 690smc – who was faced with a similar decision?
Hello, has someone happened to drive both times for a slightly longer period of time (sample)? When choosing between one of the two mopeds I’m doing very hard at the moment. Background: Because of children and dogs longer tours are currently (and in the next years) not possible/wanted (foreseeable). Occasionally to work and otherwise an extra round (also for two), visit to the bakery or supermarket, children transport, … For this the KTM 690 SMC is very suitable. But: For approximately there The BMW (+ABS, +1cylinder more, +…) has the same amount of money. All in all, it seems like more motorbikes. A test drive with the BMW is still on, but after a lot of reading I don’t expect a fundamentally bad motorcycle. Driving with the KTM is fun – but every local entrance is connected to switches at the same time, even in the city the single cylinder is better to hold at speed. Well, who has an opinion, I would be interested. I also know that in the end I have the same But it’s nice that you could write about it. PS: Both can’t be done at the same time.

R75/6 bubbling/bubbling
Hello Owns a bmw r75/6 from 1975 for half a year. The motorcycle was driven only for a short test while buying and actually ran well, except for a few moments where it no longer took gas. I only assumed carburettor settings. Over the winter I had time to see after the machine. Oil, filter, air filter, petrol valve incl. filter, gasoline lock and plugs incl. end cables were replaced. Test drive: the machine ran 2 km well, then bububly and bubly Yesterday I worked with the carburettors for 1 hour (poor neighbor). Unfortunately without success. Once it is normal until the 4th course, then it was over again. So slowly I wonder if it really is the carburettor, or if it is not a problem with the ending. How can I test the op the end coils are still good. And what function does this condenser have? Love is happy and thank you for helping Cliff

Battery or alternator defective?
Hello Biker, I need your expertise. I have been driving a R80RT built in 1986 for 4 years. Now I have bought the second battery. (in March this year) and have the following effect: Since the installation it ran rgut and I drove about once a week and it jumped without any problems. The voltmeter showed a voltage of about 10 volts during the last ride. I did not really notice this. Now I wanted to drive away and the machine did not jump. shows before I pressed the starter also only 9 volts and it did not work or all the lights went out when I pressed the starter. Today I with the starter cable from my Aute moved the motorcycle to run self-employed but after I shut down the autobatterie again were only 10 volts on the voltmeter to see again and after I had turned off the motorcycle once it also did not jump on and the voltmeter shows just again 9 volts. probably at “Kriech” currents or maybe the alternator is no longer able to charge the battery? How can I determine the cause with little effort?

Sudden game in the clutch train
Hello, I just drove up to the highway and spontaneously had huge play in the clutch train when switching. There is a metal sleeve where the train runs into the adjustment screws on the handlebar. This is now incredibly loose and comes out almost completely from the black screw. The handle also does not go back to the starting position and the grinding point of the clutch is felt a few millimeters before stop. I then next possibility down and saw if the Kupp I could not find anything at all when I checked my vision. I can only imagine that a part of the soul was torn, the wire rope swirled up a bit and became longer. Am I lying right or is there another possibility? LG

Brake cylinder rear BMW K100RS 1987 Excluding ABS
Hello, A friend of mine has a BMW K100RS BJ Nov 87. It is I believe the 2v 90 hp version. Anyway, he has renewed the brake pads at the rear, and he is supp his brake cylinder out of the cuff. After some research I have read this should not be so rare, just when printing the piston back it happens that the Simmerring is leaking on the piston. however, a rep. set costs 65€ at Ebay and he has just thought a little price cheaper a used brake Yes, I know, some were, some didn’t. In any case, we find quite a lot with a 12 mm piston. However, in his a 13 mm brake cylinder should be installed. Can you take the 12 it, and to widen the search somewhat, which other models are identical and can be used. If any information is missing, please just write. Thanks and nice Sunday still
