  • Search BMW R1200RT and need a purchase consultant

Hello, I’m looking for a BMW R1200RT and don’t know exactly if a mileage of over 120,000km is too much. Has always been maintained at BMW and clutches and valves were made last year. How long will an engine last with annual maintenance and human driving style and what do I have to pay attention to with a Rt besides the brake power amplifier? Maybe one can help me, I am unfortunately a student and therefore I can’t afford a total failure.

  • BMW ABS III (i-abs) problem

Hi guys, I’m totally new to this forum, and this is my first forum entry ever. I hope an entry under this forum is the right kind and wise help to get. I’m Dane and that’s why my German is not flawless, but hopefully it’s enough to participate in this forum. My problem is like many others the vulnerable ABS on my BMW R 1150 RT. I’ve read a lot of things about the others in this forum that have also tried different things n not to buy 2000 EUR or more in the BMW contract workshop. Like many before me I also have the blinking of the 2 control lights (ABS and warning symbol). ABS lamp clocked in 4 seconds. Warning lamp is on. I have read about the possible errors causes (moisture damage, defective components, capacitors, rust on the pistons etc.) The question is however, why does everything work with me when the motorcycle is cold and does not have a certain heat – self test before starting n (brake lever and foot pedal tested many times over 10 minutes) and after the start of the engine everything went still OK (many times tested as before the start of the engine) – but after 5-7 minutes lesson run 600-1500 around (can unfortunately not drive in the weather – too much snow) the warning lamp starts to flash again in 4 seconds. After 15-20 minutes cooling everything is OK again – no ABS flashing and selfest OK. Incidentally – brake fluid has been changed 4 months ago. Hope One of you has an idea. Greet Steen

  • Help with purchase decision GS 1100 to 1200

First of all a hello in the round 🙂 Short to me: I had ordered the then new GS 1100 blindly in 1993 (after several 600 single-cylinders). What should I say – the mopped was a dream. After a good one year I exchanged it for my son and since then I have hardly driven :-(. Now my wife licked blood again and organized us for two weeks a GS 1100 from 98. Now we are both so excited that we think about getting back in again. I have from Nostalgieg So I’m interested in Laie. Realistically, it’s a maximum of 2000 to 3000 km per year if a longer tour works out. Actually, it’s the 1100s great, but the slight increase in engine capacity to the 1150s, as well as the sixth gear appeals to me, as I like to work with the torque. Or a 1200s? Brake amplifier, rear axle gearbox? Rather more kilometers and newer or less kilometers and an older one? Actually, I don’t want more than € 6,000,- so my question to you: what would you do? I look forward to your feedback Nimbus 2000

  • BMW and the rediscovered boredom

Since setting up the BMW C1 it has become boring. The supposed loser has been emptied and it is further conventionally thought. Front one wheel – rear one wheel and in between as much horsepower as possible. Past the time with courageous smaller quantities and something dare. Critics will perhaps say, OK … but there is also the C evolution. But precisely this escooter shows the development dilemma at BMW. BMW thinks “only” PS-driven and arranges the driving dynamics everything else ter. This is consistent, but is it also correct in the long term ? Are not other values such as quality, comfort, price, safety, etc. under the wheels ? Certainly the “pein” was great in the mind of some people when dealing with the then C1 . Dealers were irritated . Conservative BMW drivers of motorcycles and automobiles were unsure . The project C1 was discontinued and it spreads fear of refusal before new at BMW . Rather the tried-and-tested extensions and refine … could be assumed . But this creative clutter leads to the fact that less than the broad mainstream culture can be thought up and practiced. Actually, this is also good, because then other companies can vaguely and create a name and product sales. BMW ignores the “multi-wheeler approach”. First PIAGGIO, then PEUGEOT and others take up the concept. Now also Yamaha and that maybe not only in the scooter area:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8JA9G3ACQ4 BMW ignores that even small escooter solutions, which are also cheaper to combine traditional values & innovation values:https://unumotors.com/ BMW ignores even once small revolutionary developments, to complement the scooter construction once and to create new niches:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqTgQIKtIyA On the other hand, it would probably be less interesting for the brand image if a brand is charged with edge things that disturb certain “core image values”. sometimes in the head”, because only certain firmly defined construction highways are operated in the head. Young people, however, do it right not in all things simply to follow the old. This also creates room for new things.

  • Collective action against BMW???

Hi…. I had an engine damage at the beginning of July. Pleul tore down at 200 kmh, hit through the engine block and damaged the rear wheel tire, apart from the fact that the tire was completely covered with oil due to the damage on the engine anyway… I was only lucky that I was on a straight and not in a curve… After the incident, I Googled the whole time, and talked to different people. I realized that this was an almost common error of the K 1200s… That the model has problems with the gearbox, cardons and ABS is well-known and bad enough, but how can I, as a manufacturer, ignore the rupture and hit through the engine block? Apart from the fact that the things can then fly around at insane speed, injuring drivers and uninvolved, the driver is still dependent on his protective angel at the moment. Positi v probably had an effect when I intercepted the machine, that I also ride a motorcycle on a professional basis and therefore have a certain ability… But in the curve I didn’t think I could buy anything from it either… My question is now, how many did this really happen and does anyone know if they had ever complained against BMW??? Thank you so much…

  • Switching problems with BMW?

Hello guys! How are your experiences with switching your BMW? I have the completely new R1200GS and if I want to switch from second to first gear, there are often problems. The workshop thinks that you have to pull the clutch lever several times in a row or let the machine roll in front or back. This doesn’t always work the same way. I thought it shouldn’t happen with a new motorcycle. With my old F650, there was this problem already. About your experiences d amit I would be grateful to you. Greeting hasepups

  • Strong mashia throttling?!?

Hey Folks! I have a bit of a weird question, as I think! Nen acquaintance of me might want to make a rag. But since he has to drive for 2 years, he asked me if one can also throttle a strong maschiene?!? In the special case it is either a K1200 R or R1200 S. He finds both nice, but doesn’t want to get a maschiene now and again in 2 years! Since I have no idea if this is going to happen I will pass the question on to you!!! P.S.: I know that this is very questionable and would probably make it nciht personally! Just want to know if that’s possible!

  • R1100S ABS control light flashes fast

Hello, I have a little problem with my R1100S. I was at an oil change in the NL. There they told me that on the motorcycle oil loss gear -> engine or at the final drive. They suspect it, but exactly they don’t say it. So I drove back home. Now to the problem: I drove on the AB with about 210 km/h. Suddenly the ABS control light went on (ABS: fast flashing, General warning light: permanent light) brake loss I did not notice. I can’t tell if the smell came from the long standing. The machine was standing over the winter. It also got a new GEL battery.

  • TÜV denied license plate too small !!!

Servus together, I currently have a small problem with the TÜV. My K1200R is currently at the annual inspection + TÜV. That’s when he called me on Friday and said that the examiner refused me the TÜV because my motorcycle is equipped with a registration plate for light motorcycles. The examiner wanted a special approval for this, which I did not have of course. However, the registration office assigned me these registration plates over 2 years ago. I was asked at that time if I had the one k The inspector now demands that I mount the pizza sheet to the stern. Has one of you had similar experiences? Can the TÜV examiner do that at all? Is his authority above that of an approval office? I would be grateful for any help! Greetings of the meiserli

  • K100RS Bj 86 Buying tips-what should be considered?

Hello to the forum, for the first time I also use the 2-wheel-side with a request to the “brick-ler” among you. I play with the idea to buy an “old lady”, which looks optically (age-appropriate) flawless, all service is made, but there are only 120,000km on it… Kardan and battery first exchanged. Question to you: Are there experiences, which technical details should be looked at especially, in order not to experience unlovable / expensive / annoying surprises? e.g. Steuerklett a.E.. (gears seem to be no issue with this model anyway), this is the 2-valve 90PS version without ABS. The price is still interesting, the part should cost about EUR 1,000, after which the older gentleman no longer comes to driving. Think, that would be acceptable. I am grateful for your helpful tips Lupo
