  • Pulling under (full) load

Hello together, first I thought my R1100RS,Bj 93 (exchange gearbox 94)has gear jumper (known problem). With Sozius, or in the mountains or at full speed there is a strong jerk in every(!) course, but the gear does not jump out, it accelerates immediately after that. Now someone put me on the idea that could also be the cardan drive that slips through, has there any experience with similar problem ? asks blauagxy

  • Kaufberatung R or K ?

Hello dear people, after 20 years of abstinence I want to get a motorcycle again. Last time I drove a GS850G and then an XJ900. A total of 14 years of motorcycle experience with approx.200,000 km (I was on the road a lot After the decision to get back on the road (at 51) and now (because of age) it can and should be also a BMW (was then among us young savages completely frowned poses to me a decisive question. R or K ? What do I want to do? Cruise n! On weekends, for 3-4 hours, maybe even longer. No long tours over several days. No highway, preferably country roads. Mostly alone, maybe two times. Top speed is not important to me, acceleration and good chassis count, am not a corner softness and let it be sporty. Quite clear, if it goes according to technology, is in my view the K 1200 R front. If I look at the Youtube videos, it should be a R 1200 R. Why? On all videos the I have seen the K 1200 R, the drivers only hang on the gas, the tachometer depends between 8 and 11000 tours, the device goes animally and I get blood pressure (I’m already too old for the part?) With the videos of the R 1200 R it’s a bit quieter to the thing (although I don’t underestimate the torque), actually something comes up to me (although the animal in the K admittedly is very irritating). So, now I come to the point. Can one with the K also “cozy” crui without constantly having the adrenaline level above the lower lip, or induces you to heat the motor characteristics (red range starting from 11,000). To make it clear again. Actually, I prefer the K 1200 R, unless someone here tells me “Let Grandpa, this part is too hot for you” You have a nice evening and thank you for your answers. Dirk

  • How to synchronize a K100 BJ 1990

Hello people need your help. I wanted to synchronize my BMW K100 myself after 25 years. have bought me a part now (see picture) and started. It’s quite good only the 2 cylinders do not react. No matter how I turn the screw. Can you help me? Can I adjust it differently? Can you tell me in which area it should be set in the stand gas or is it enough if they are only synchronous?

  • K1200R gear damage at 27’000km

Hello everyone, I bought a K1200R two years ago, Jg. 2006, then with 20’000km. For a few days there has always been a jerk, if I give full throttle in the second gear, as about 7000Rpm, as if the gear would jump out for a short time and immediately hook up again. Gang is certainly right in it, the error can be reproduced as desired. In the other gears there are no problems. The dealer thinks the switch box (so the whole gear?) must be replaced. I now have 27’000km On the motorcycle and it’s unbelievable that I have to replace the gearbox at this km stand already. Culinary request negative, since the motorcycle is already in the 6th year of operation. Has someone ever received a positive decision in such a case? In general: Don’t you also think that BMW has to cover at least a part of the costs? I mean, it’s not exactly a cheap bike, and BMW motorcycles are usually considered very reliable, right?

  • Smartphone holder

Dear people, As 97 1100 RT-man, and since I haven’t driven around with a smartphone yet, and just got a Motorola G4 (which also has the Google Navi in it), I wanted to ask you if you have tips for the mount. e.g. with or without Waterproof case? or does the key feel not quite…? the side buttons? with or without sun protection?, with or without USB connection (to load)? with Bluetooth connection to the headphones (for directions)? od he can do this without? with or without vibration protection? better screwed directly to the handlebar bolts or is the “bike holder for something round” completely sufficient as a connection to the bike? Under 25K vibration is one thing that you might have to consider here, since in the city you rarely get beyond it, even with nicely balanced carburettors, and in the city you need the Navi most. am complete beginner in these things. Do you have advice/experience here? I w who of you is using the smartphone solution? e.g. without charging connection, does this work (battery-like) at all? Can you use a plug (12V) for this? maybe you have already dealt with it a thousand times, but I’m throwing it again in the round. I have it before business trips across De to Berlin and would like to make things a little easier! Thank you… Callum

  • BMW R50/2

Good day My R50/2 has a problem. It does not accept the gas. The carburettors are synchronized and the spark plugs are new. It also starts without problems. Super idle. I have already tried different nozzles in the carburettor and there was no improvement. I suspect that the ignition coil or the dynamo does not work anymore. How can I check them? Someone also told me that the swimmer eventuel has a crack and thus you don’t want the gas. anz, since the swimmer only makes sure that petrol comes into the float chamber. If someone has a tip and knows the problem with the gas acceptance. Thanks Urmel

  • Short circuit during assembly tank and battery BWW R850R

I didn’t exactly catch a lead of the tank at the front of the tank when the tank was pushed down, so it came to a short circuit with the battery. It got a bit of smoke up and the fuse no. 5 engine was through. Starting did not work even after replacement of the 15Ampere fuse. That then also burned again. I have not examined anything further. What could the problem be? R850R with ABS BJ 1996

  • R 1100 RS brake caliper rear loses brake fluid

Hello BMW municipality, when dismantling the rear brake caliper suddenly dripped brake fluid out of the caliper. During dismantling I was careful to go and did nothing with force. So far the system was absolutely tight. Unfortunately, I could not find out where this liquid leaked. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there anything to repair or is it useful to install a new caliper right away? LHzG Gerd

  • R1200 / Which engine oil do you drive?

Hello everybody, I’d like to know which oil you use in your R1200. I know that BMW Castrol recommends 20W 50. But you don’t get that everywhere, and that’s why my R1200 often ends up with 10W 40. But now there’s a complete oil change and that’s why I want to do it right. What’s good now? Fully synthetic or semi-synthetic or even mineral? A tip would be great. it would be interesting to learn from a few globetrotters what you are using, if any of you are. In some countries you have to take what is available. Thanks PS: I have already used the search function. Couldn’t find the right topic under “oil” now.
