  • Questions about R 1150 R

Hello, we would like to start with the same after a long time abstinence from motorcycling again and were yesterday at the BMW dealer. As object of our desire there was among other things a R 1150 R with ABS and heating handles from 2001 with 39000 km. Condition = good, previous owner = 2, price = 6,500 Euro. Now the questions to all who know the motorcycle: 1. Can one buy the R 1150 R without hesitation ? 2. Are there major improvements in technical terms in the years 2002 to 2004 ? My husband has here any where something read of conversion to double ignition system. 3. We find the price for a 6 year old motorcycle quite high. Thank you for your answers.

  • ABS Why? Why? Why?

Hello BMW municipality! I recently read a test report from a current BMW motorcycle, don’t ask me which one. What immediately tells me in the report that the bike ABS had! ABS! Both wheels should even be braked with the same brake grip or foot brake with ABS. Since I have never ridden a motorcycle, I don’t know how to classify it. In my opinion, a motorcycle without ABS is so dangerous with a full brake, since if possible you use both brakes However, it should avoid blocking both brakes as much as possible. (whereby blocking the VR brake is probably the worst… 🙂 To my question, ABS is actually a huge enrichment when riding a motorcycle or is everything no problem with a Volbrake without ABS, if you are not a beginner? However, if ABS is really useful, why the hell isn’t it installed in every bike, motorbikes aren’t cheap as well?! S already offer or at least will be offered in the near future? Perhaps my question is too banal, but in this case I would like to take a look, as I 1. do not ride a motorcycle and 2. because I have found nothing despite forum search. I would be happy about answers. Mfg SicAngel

  • Navi + motorcycle consulting

My father-in-law is an enthusiastic biker and has been thinking about getting a navigator for the motorcycle for some time now. Since it’s soon Christmas, we thought that this would be a nice gift. My wife and I are not bikers. So we don’t know what we have to pay attention to when buying. The following questions have already occurred to me, but I don’t have any answers yet. Be: 1. How it looks with the mounting on the bike. He drives a K 1200 S or RS (I mean 2 years old). I can’t tell exactly. However, a tank backpack should still be mountable. 2. The power supply. Most Navis had thus 4 – 5 hours battery life. I find something scarce when you are on tour. Cigarette lighters as in the car probably don’t exist on the bike. 3. The weather protection. I had looked the days after Navis in Saturn. Advice can be forgotten there of course, This is especially the case here in Frankfurt. As far as I know, only Navis for the car had them, which probably have no weather protection. I only noticed that there are also Navis for the bike. However, I would call it a nice weather biker, so that the weather protection is not so important. 4. Which model is suitable? But you should also be able to use the device in the car. 5. The price. We had set ourselves a limit of 200 Euro. The selection was already quite Ok. Does anyone know the device? 6. The equipment. Only Navi, everything else would be unnecessary. Many have MP3 players or Bluetooth. Not needed. 7. The operation. Should be really very simple and intuitive. So that would be the points first. Would I be very happy about the answers and suggestions from you. Many greetings, Andreas

  • How old are we?

Hello guys, you don’t like to talk about it, but we all know, it’s not going to pass us without a trace. I’m 43, yes 43.

  • BMW F650 CS 60 hp with 15000 km from 2004 or Kawa ER 6f with 3000Km from 2006

Yes, this problem arises to me and I am really torn back and forth. The super suit of the BMW as 1V with great technology and good optics against the 2V of the practically new Kawa, which pulls at least the same, which looks even better, in which only the wind disturbs me something. Help me with your opinion and your view. I hope that this makes the decision easier for me. Price is equal to 5,400€. Ciao Halli

  • BMW… well…

Hello guys, I’m actually from the Audi Forum. After long considerations, I got a R100R, my first BMW, Bj 92,-24000 km,- 2950,-€. Was always a dream of me, but now I’m a bit disappointed. First I was very pleased, with the strong torque, the comfortable sitting position, the very appealing appearance, all around a nice moped, even in the colour Ametist. What annoys me more and more are the flapper motor and the tacky circuit! the following problem. Was the last time on the highway and wanted to drive the cow out. until 170km/h everything normal, but then it broke off, as if it did not get any fuel anymore. Then had to go down to about 140km/h until it took off again, also I can not get you in the lower gears at maximum speed. Shouldn’t you really be able to turn every gear up to the maximum speed, or? Does any of you know the problem?, can it be due to not properly synchronized carburettors? actually “normal” runs, also takes really good gas, also runs nicely round. The engine was once throttled, but has been removed, I also convinced myself of it. I previously drove a CX 500 C, where the engine was much smoother and more revolving compared to the BMW, not to mention the circuit. Be happy about every hint, or any answer!!! Greetings from Kiel

  • Rockster opinions

Hello Talker! I am about to get a R 1150 Rockster. Now I have found that the opinions about the “outfit” of the Rockster go far apart. I would be interested in the opinions of the BMW community here in the forum and hope for a controversial discussion. I start out: I personally like the Rockster very much. Even if it consists of building blocks from the BMW shelf it is THE other BMW. It stands out from the BMW program and is no longer this The motorcycle that everyone likes, no longer THE conventional BMW that appeals to the generation 25-55 years. A motorcycle with a mature engine with particularly good driving characteristics for the country road, without fitting into the category of streetfighters who disregard all traffic rules. How do you see the Rocksters? Thank you for your contributions!
