  • BMW GS 1200 ADV (K25) vs BMW K1600GT

Hello! I have currently as a motorcycle a GS 1200 Adventure air cooled BJ 2009 with 105hp. (my first motorcycle that I bought 4 years ago) Driving performance per year approx. depending on the weather and how often I have time maybe max. 5000km Why did I buy this motorcycle: first because of my size, I am 193cm tall, and because of the still straight sitting position on this travel enduro. More performance always goes of course, but is basically very satisfied with it. This is why I’m still sitting straighter and the original seat in the highest position. Unfortunately, my popo often makes a dash of the bill, because after 1.5-2h on the motorcycle I can’t sit anymore because my best of all hurts. I had a naked bike (Honda CB 650 R) on my driver’s license and there was this seat problem almost after 1h there… I know you get a hell of a lot of accessories from other seats etc. But I would be interested if you zbs. on one of the first K1600 GT (2010 11 12) as it has come on the market is better than on my current motorcycle? It is important to me a very straight seat position, the wind shield should be able to do half way what because I even with my GS ADV got an increase. terrain I drive none, 100% road, highway up to now actually never, only country road, am not a corner robber driving on the last Rille, ride comfortably only sometimes when accelerating I like times I know, the 2 motorcycles can’t be compared at all. I’ve also searched through some forums but I would still like to have individual experience values of you driving such motorcycles. I’m always alone and in no group without Sozius, and I’m really just an occasional driver but I think it’s very bad that my very best of all always makes a dash through the bill. As I said, I’m 193cm tall and have about 135kg. Do you really compare the two on the motorcycle with the K1600 GT? Could you (I) be happy with such a motorcycle so that I would last longer distances or rather not. It is difficult to borrow something like this because there are not many of these devices, but want to inform me first. Thanks for that. Lg Leo

  • New shock absorbers for old RT – Wilbers?

I’m just back on Schleichwegen from a 3 TKM tour and I’m hard on ground waves twice with the lower engine cover. I’m not the lightest and the rear spring leg is after 170 TKM like Fratze. So I’m looking for an alternative. OEM or Wilbers, or maybe something else? I know that’s not worth it financially, but I’m attached to her, to my old Gudrun, and I’d like to crack the 200 TKM. The left to the Greet!

  • Your recommendation K100 for conversion CafeRacer desired

Hello, I want to do the conversion of a K100 and convert it to a CafeRacer. At the moment I am looking for a solid basis and would need the advice of the experts. I am looking for a K100 to approx. 70,000 km. Built around 1985. I don’t really know the model series now. Can someone tell me what to look for? Are there known problems with a particular model? Has someone already done a conversion and can give a few tips? You pay attention to later have fewer problems with the TÜV or the conversion? Thanks to you. Greetings

  • Collision with a car.

Moin bikers the following. I had a collision with my motorcycle with a car, he cut me unfortunately and thus my motorcycle is pounded against his door. (see photo). Well, I had built crashpads on it, they prevented worse. Only I have the feeling that since then the bmw, while driving, raced. I was of course already at a workshop, but they didn’t do much except hold the exhaust and pulled the gas grip. He said it was nothing. sst my feeling is not loose that the crash pads may have pushed themselves into motor by the impact. Wherewith the pads are attached to the frame. What do you think my worry is unfounded? Pictures are there

  • Used R850R times

I was a WE in Spain and I borrowed the R850R. Otherwise I drive the Yamaha XJ6 (600 cubic, 4 cyl). Since I saw that some have the R850R here, I would like to ask a question in the round. If the R850R was still offered today, there was a reason to buy it? (is the R1200R different?, is one better operated with 600-er Japanese? etc.) I found the vibrations too strong and, as was mentioned in other threads here, the engine seemed tormented. It felt not effective. more comfortable or more dynamic than XJ6. I ask the question because I’m still a beginner with just 10000km on the speedometer. I just want to understand if I might have dealt with this wrongly. For example, I noticed that if I had moved the machine between 2 and 2.5K revolutions, it felt really fluffy. There was nothing unpleasant about the engine. But that only went downhill. Otherwise, somewhere between 3 and 3.5K had to be to get the same dynamics. And over 3.5K, vibrations were much too strong. Just to speed up no topic, but in the 6th gear over 130Kmh it was no longer pleasant (i.e. absolutely over 3.5K). Can it be that the machine is simply not designed for over 130Kmh? Or how do you do it when you drive up Serpantine, for example? And one more question, I have never driven the 1200 boxers before. Did the Modern R1200 differ strongly from 850? An F800GS and an F650 I already had. They’re really different.

  • BMW R 1250 Lifetime Battery Experienced?

Hello, I would like to know how long the original battery was held by your boxers? My R1250RS is produced from 2019 (after a factory holiday – now 4 years old) and when starting it sounds like the battery is at the end… everything just before collapse but goes on. Several times starting (without driving a longer distance) is already difficult despite previous full charging with charger – there are error messages the sensors fail (due to undervoltage…v battery was always connected to the BMW charger (overboard socket) over winter and motorcycle was always in the garage… so had already had favorable conditions. Km stand 14000. Is this normal and I am only used to a longer battery life from the car? Thanks for your experience…

  • Burned Smell at Acceleration

Moin moin, I would need your experience again so I found a burnt smell today after I accelerated about 5 sec in the first gear up to 130+ kmh, from 50-60 kmh. I have to say that I never accelerate my bmw in the first gear so high, but somehow I switched one too far down. The burnt smell was only short there, I am immediately off the gas. But still I don’t know such a smell. If I drive a little faster otherwise s I keep up in the 4 to 5 gears there is zero what. And yes, I’m not so experienced about bikes, that’s why there are such forums. o

  • BMW K75 – Rear brake functionless

I wanted to go to HU today. I turned the other way around because I noticed that the rear brake is not working. The K75 is from 1993 incl. ABS, the documents I changed about 4 years ago. The last brake fluid change is a long time ago. There are no steel hoses on it, but there is no leak and no inflating. The brake fluid is in it, the discs are not oily. The operation of the foot lever is possible with extremely low force until the stop. I. But there is zero delay. Of what I could find about the search function here is the most likely cause of the footbrake switch. The machine was about 1.5 years ago, can something have been fixed there? She is already 30 years old.

  • Presumably camshaft damage S1000R

Hoi together, I bought a used BMW S 1000 R privately in September 2021 Year of construction 2016 with 13400 km. After the purchase I first had to get to know the machine and at the beginning of this season I always noticed a quiet kind of clacking / rattles in a constant from 4,000 revolutions it became louder and louder. Current mileage is at 16400 km. That can not be healthy my first guess was on the chain tensioner, because the machine always at the start a loud rattle of itself now I suspect a camshaft damage with abrasion of the towing lever. Callback from BMW ? Is it a known problem of the series ? Does anyone have experience what it looks like with culant from the manufacturer ? Does any of you have similar experience with its S 1000 and can give me possibly a hint ? ?? The previous owner called the rustling as completely “normal” only it has now become ever louder and louder over time.
