So, I’m back from my alpine trip: 7 days of alpine passes, it was pretty much all well-known to far into France, with the latest models of BMW: K1200R, K1200S, R1200RT, R1200ST, R1200GS and K1200LT, R1150GS ADV. Problems with the brakes did not exist (why? I had never had any problems mentioned here personally and also several passes in a row have rather the vertigo freedom of the driver on one test (whether the many curves and the d Kehren) than the brakes). The RT has succeeded excellently from the wind and weather protection, the ST goes devilishly well. And after a day on the K1200R I have to realize: it is definitely nothing for a beginner… Jürgen

Switch to BMW?
Hi guys, I’m currently playing with the idea of buying a bmw r 1100 s, right now I’m driving a suzuki gsx 600f with 86 ps, but I want to buy another motorcycle next year (so don’t hurry) as I said, I find the bmw r 1100 s interesting, so now some questions 1. is the motorcycle for longer tours, at my size 1.96 m, at all suitable, so I’ll be uncomfortable sitting, will hurt with fast something or something. 2. since I want to drive my new motorcycle only in 2006 I have enough time to find a new one, I would like to buy a used machine for about 7000- 8000 €, so I wonder when the best time is to buy a used motorcycle? I thought to myself to buy the new one in the autumn (lower demand –> lower purchase price?) and my suzuki in the early year (higher demand –> higher sale price?) for sale, s 3. didn’t hear that all r 1100s were built with abs? from which year of construction?, 4, what’s with the standard equipment? or what’s special equipment? there are apparently tour handlebars and tour windshields (higher), special equipment? 5. what reasons are there to switch to bmw, I could soon buy a new asian for this money, customer services expensive (what intervals)? tax how much?, consumption?, mature (cost durability)? many questions. …. thank you for your reply

K 1200 S
Are there any of you riders who have ordered one and are waiting for their motorcycle? What I don’t understand is, the machines that BMW drove in the preliminary series which were ok, or not. At least you haven’t heard anything about this motorcycle I am very unsure if I would buy it. Maybe wait until 2006, then all child diseases must be eliminated.

Visit of the B M W factory
Hello forum, I would like to visit the birthplace of “my” (our) baby. Who was already there or would be interested in 2005? Here is the link to HP : http://www.bmw-werk-berlin.de/ Would I also like to see RIESIG if you could describe something about it, if someone has already experienced such a tour. Maybe you could do some work together and get some preliminary information. If the interest would be so great that it would be for a group (min. 10-20 people) d P.S. Come from Rhineland/Palatinate (Limburgerhof near Speyer) Greeting GS Günni

Which oil for R 45 ?
Hello for now, So: I apologize for having to open a “what kind of oil” thread right now, but: Now seriously : I am proud owner of a beautiful (imho) BMW R 45 (e.g. ’79), with about 49,000 KM on the odometer (and don’t want to switch to anything else, throttle it or something like that) What I’m wondering is: I want to do my old lady something really good at the beginning of this season and do her the very best (if it’s something like that) ibt) Oil – I am a student and therefore not necessarily rich, but my motorcycle is worth something to me. To my problem: I have been searching the forum for a few hours now and have read some treatises about different SAE classes etc., which were also really interesting… the eternal dispute, whether now fully synthetically is really better or whether you should stay with oil just with old vehicles is also always funny… but just like motor technical layman asked (who is now finally confused): Can I take a fully synthetic oil ? Does it have to be a motorcycle oil ? Is there anything I should not take ? I would like to thank you now for the many helpful tips… mfg, Homunk

Good ear asked– clapping.
Hello guys, I’m new in the forum and in the BMW motorcycle world, I bought myself a used F800 GS a few days ago (6/’10 , 30,000 km), which I’m very proud of, my first “large” motorcycle ! So I plan to enter the adventure-riding, slowly but safely and I hope to have made the right choice. So now, to my problem…. my motorcycle clatters neatly in the front area, so loud that I don’t think it’s normal. I think I had to discover it before I bought it….mea culpa). It’s a plastic noise, as if something hard is slamming on plastic, nothing metallic. I checked everything when I was waving around with my hand all the bombproof, slurry, cables, cover for fans, protective plate around the hoop, fittings, lights, wind protection, paneling, front wheel cover, the “protective buckle” It’s not about the front wheel either, it’s got it removed and it hasn’t stopped. As far as my hands are concerned, I’ve scanned everything and, as I said, it’s stuck. Had any of you ever had such a thing or can one of you make a Vorschlag, where else I could look ? Thank you in advance, MW

K75 Police Edition… How do you start it?
I just bought the bike. Directly from the police from the first hand. Now I only have the problem that I don’t know how to start it. If I want to start it like a normal motorcycle nothing happens. So take off button and brake. Is there a trick? Burn the lights, battery is full and everything else is normal. Have the feeling the police have a trick there 😛

Find the optimal motorcycle (purchase decision)
Hello, I’m just driving a motorcycle driver’s license, since I’m going to be 30 next year I’m allowed to drive straight away… Now I’m already looking at what kind of motorcycle is possible. I’m 180 tall and weigh 75 kg. I wanted a BMW because both cars are also from BMW and I’m satisfied with BMW so far I’m staying with it. I like the F800S – AC Schnitzer whereby I’m not sure if I’m rich or if I want to have something bigger after 2 years… I want my own It’s not a freeway ride but rather a comfortable ride on the country road, small and larger tours in the group in nice weather. Which one can you recommend ? Should be good to act, no enduro or flat iron… rather in the area Sport Tourer (upright seating position) for comfortable driving overland. Absolute ABS is a must but the BMW ́s have almost all… Budget: should be below 600€
