Hello and good day, I’m new here and I first logged in because of the following question: Since I want to have damaged places on my 1 year old car (stone blow radiator hood, scratch-delle door, grinding track bumper back, smaller bird droppings, scratching places on door handles) I was here in Bavaria with a paint doctor. The price of approx. 1.200 Euro threw me over – I didn’t think it was so expensive. However: the hood front has to be repainted, the one door also, as well as the bumper. Of course this is not a cardboard handle. How are your experiences with paint doctors and their prices? I will still ask the SEAT contract dealer (my car=Ibiza), at a free workshop and at a 2nd paint doctor. Let’s see what they so attack. Would I be happy to hear from you here – Greeting ramirez89

How good is Smart Repair?
Hello, again I’m good at it… In advance: I used the SuFu and read it all well with the car. But it didn’t help me any more with my problem: Someone made me this scratch (the picture, wheel running back right). Soo, I was now with various painters, including my good acquaintances. So far everyone said that Smart Repair was the right solution. However, my friend knows me very well from my corinte pack side, which concerns car care. He thinks that 99% of his customers are satisfied with the result of Smart Repair, but I would not be one of those 99%. He thinks that I see the difference and therefore will not be happy with it. He thinks that I should have the job painted normally (Smart Repair) and then let the whole page with the clear varnish over. It logically costs more. For Smart Repair he takes 120 eur, for the second option 220 eur – I think that maybe someone scratchs the car again and I can’t be afraid of getting a half car. On the other hand, I won’t be happy with it.

Lateral rockfall dissolves clear varnish – fuss?
Hello, I had a paint damage repaired about a year ago at a reputable paint shop according to the internet. In addition, the rear door was repainted. Today I noticed a bright point on this door. It looks like in clear varnish a small (1mm) hole formed. Therefore, the clear varnish is slightly different from the other paint (see also photo). I suspect rockfall. I have never seen this damage picture before. The clear varnish looks like a somewhat tough foil over the own varnish. I am now considering whether something went wrong or even was botched here when painting. Opinions?

Different paint after painting bumper
Hello, I have a short question about the painting of my bumper and I hope you can help me. I recently had the bumper of my Alfa Giulietta repainted. The background was that I was disturbed by the pre-assembled plastic holder for the license plate, because I use a short mark and never really fitted it to the holder. When I picked up the car from the paintmaker (free workshop), I noticed that the bumper shimmers in the light somehow differently (pictures included). In my opinion, the paint was not hit properly. The paintmaker has a very good reputation and many years of experience. He used original Alfa paint and allegedly also took a sample from the door before to adjust the paint. After I brought the car back, he tells me that it is not possible to achieve a better result with this shade and that it is due to the difference Kunsstoff/Metal as well as to the grey tone. What do you think? The difference is especially noticeable from the side, frontal it goes.

Grate removal C3 fold at the threshold below
Hello, I would like to derust our C3 at the folds Schweller/bodenblech below, outside; how would you proceed ? I mean the A4 riders, exactly 😉 The folds are partly three-layered, since the fenders are fixed in front and rear. If the rust has already wandered a bit high between the sheets, how do you get there ? From the outside it does not look bad yet. Thought maybe slightly bend up, sand off, paint and knock again ? But then the paint bursts off again … Many before underfloor protection from below in the bent fold spraying ? Thought already on entwined, but this is probably bad because of the heat . Greetings and beautiful WE

Rust on the fender – what would you do?
Hello, I am proud owner of an old Golf V (BJ2005, 2 liters gasoline, 150 hp). I like the car very much. The leather seats are great, the old radio can be compensated with a Bluetooth receiver, the 150 hp even make a bit of fun and the slightly higher consumption plays with my annual kilometers (in the last two years on average 6,000km/year) only a minor role. So I would like to drive the vehicle still a few years. Unfortunately I have on both front fenders/swings rust spots, which do not go out of my mind. Therefore my questions to the community: 1. Can one estimate when the problem with the TÜV exists? The next is in September 2023 and I would like to pass the dates in 2025 and 2027 too…. 2. Are there here sensible “home remedies” to slow down the rust spread(!)? From WD-40 to rope fat I have read a lot of things. 3. Would it be easy to do something? I also read that way. By means, the situation can’t make any difference to the repair here. Unfortunately, the best of course, I have your opinion from the garage needs a lot to thank you.

Painting bad done?
Hello, in the case of our car the bonnet was repainted after an accident; in addition, we got new bumpers etc., which were also painted. When I picked up the car, I didn’t notice that, but this morning the sun suddenly showed me a picture that looks quite strange: from the front you can see nothing, but when you look at it slanted the whole bonnet is full of streaks. I tried to take a photo of it, I hope you can see something. How do the professionals / experts among you see this, is that normal? Thanks in advance for your feedback!
