Moin, you keep reading that there were development problems and that’s why you gave them up. Mercedes had tried it in the S-Class with a V18. VW tried it in the Bugatti with a real W18. Unfortunately, both were abandoned due to construction problems. Only I can’t find any details exactly what it was about. Just a W18 I don’t imagine so problematic – or at least less problematic in construction than a V18.

In spite of high taxation and high fuel costs, what does the diesel still speak for?
Good day, in the past, a diesel was a useful purchase because of the low fuel costs, the high torque in the lower speed range and the longevity of the engines. What arguments still speak for buying a diesel car today?

Did the garage mess up?
Hello, today I had to drive my car to the workshop of my trust, as the MKL lit up. After reading out the fault memory it came out that the charging pressure is too low. What’s exactly about it can only be clarified next week after a repair date. So far so bad. However, in the workshop it is suggested that an oil change that I had made a week before (At ATU, because I was not in my hometown for 3 months) was carried out with “false” oil. According to the Besch If my engine has to be filled in 5W30, but ATU has filled in 0W20 (see picture). ICh had nothing at all on the car at 110,000 km and therefore I find the “accident”–> false oil/ MKL jumps a few days later to very inconvenient… Now my questions: Can 0W20 damage my engine or even be responsible for the (strangely) one week later starting MKL, or also caused damage to the turbocharger? Should I have the oil (at the expense of the workshop) My car data: Opel Astra-K 1.4 Sports Tourer (from 2015) 150 hp (110 kW)

What should be considered when refilling oil?
Evening, I have to refill with my Seat Oil. I have bought 1L oil from Castrol now. I know anyway that with my Seat the oil 5W30 (Longlife) with the specification 50400 is in it. However, I do not know of which brand this is. Do I have to keep in mind something else? To be honest, I have never done that before, and I am afraid to harm the engine. What can you do wrong with oil and refill? Seat Leon 5f 1.4TSI engine with 122ps

Advantage by petrol with >= 100 octane in heat?
Hello, let’s assume from the following example: A standard petrol engine with knock control is designed for 98 octan petrol (= the manufacturer says that only 98 octan is the rated power). If you drive this engine with 100 octan or higher you have no increase in power compared to 98 octan, because the engine control is designed only for 98 octan. But: A change of 8°C in the intake air temperature has a similar effect as the change in the octane number. At 33°C intake air temperature you drive the engine with 98 octane. It achieves its nominal power, the ignition angle is not corrected. If you drive it at 33°C intake air temperature with 97 octane, the ignition angle would be corrected, so you would have power loss. But at 25°C intake air temperature you could drive it with 97 octane without power loss and without ignition angle correction. That would mean in reverse conclusion that from a certain intake air temperature one can Gasoline with 100 octane or higher could have meaning. Although no increase in performance, but at least the maintenance of the rated power. Am I correct? And if so, is there a standard that says that engines have to reach their rated power up to an external temperature of XX°C? (with the petrol required by the manufacturer) Or can any manufacturer act at its own discretion?

What do you know about injection sets that increase performance or reduce consumption?
Hello together, since I have now found 2 companies here in DE to offer the injection sets for purchase which reduce the consumption (diesel, gasoline) between 6-8% and 14% respectively, I create a topic here. An acquaintance told me about a spray set (not SSL, but average 14% less consumption on average) where he can run with his old Fiat Ducato motorhome up the mountain again, he had the product as tester, the consumption should have decreased noticeably. Then fa and I promise the company SSL the consumption reduction of 6-8-%, a bus driver (bus 369 of the VGN) on the ox head uses such a thing privately for his tractor, he had bought his bottle with 1 litre so long ago that he even the name of the on it no longer knew. Then I learned the Ferrari 20 years ago with such an additional Formula 1 world champion became, the FIA later forbade Ferrari to use the addition. Furthermore there should have been a gas station in Mannheim which the mixed the The doctor who invented the supplement is said to have survived a murder attack in his house that had been announced before, he wanted to sell the supplement to Exxon before. What do you know about it ?

New car: “Bremsspiel” of the brake pedal adaptable?
Hello dear forum community I will finally be able to pick up my new VW Touran with DSG this week. I have often had the experience with various test drives (other vehicles) that many brakes are very “sensitive” or “hard” at the beginning. I prefer, however, if the brake pedal on the first “centimers” rather gently brakes and then gets an area in which “hard” is braked. I have a few questions for this:

Very small amount of petrol fuelled in diesel
Today I have fuelled for the first time instead of diesel petrol. However, only a very small amount +/- 50ml (for a whole 7 cents). I then filled my diesel tank with 51litres full and drove well 40km home. Motor is a commonrail Opel Z17DTL. Has all this followed late or does such a small amount not matter at all? So at least on the journey home there were no differences in the suit or in the engine run.

Can you convert right-hand drive motor to left-hand drive motor? How elaborate? 320 ́ger V6 petrol
Hello @Mods, I asked the question in the Mercedes engine forum, because I received no answer, I go to a recommendation after, and ask my question here. Hi together, I bought at ebay a 320 ́ger V6 petrol engine. In the advertisement the seller did not mention that the engine is from a right-hand steering car. As we have progressed very much, I do not want to send the engine back. The RHD engine has the starter on the left side. At the housing is Also a place on the right side, just there you have to drill. Can one drill or mill at the place? How can one close the open place on the left side again? The workshop master has never had to carry out such a conversion, therefore he asked me to ask here in the forum. Thank you… Thank you in advance for the feedback.

Consumption SUV/Family Van
Hello, in view of the current CO2 debate, SUVs are becoming increasingly discredited by the public. I wondered why not talk about Family Vans, for example, which are similarly clumsy. So I compared two vehicles – with surprising result I actually assumed that such a Family Van is not more economical than an SUV. But with comparable motorization and weight, the Sharan consumes less than the Q5. But why? Especially? It’s not wind-sharp either. It’s not easy either. What’s it about? Engine control? Would interest me. The choice was of course arbitrary, but I still think that the two vehicles make a good comparison.
