  • Car has been standing for a long time; brakes are fixed

Hello, have a competitive car, which now stands for 1.5 years in wind and weather outside. According to the expert, brakes are rusted (and the underbody should also be damaged by corrosion). – No one suspected that the court needed 10 months until the 1st court hearing; another 10 until the 2nd court hearing….. (-if I had guessed that I would have rejected the car; but now we have to do the thing until the end; the brakes have to be repaired). Wi e can I get brakes and underbody stainless? (Rostumwandler?)

  • Protection of on-board electronics against voltage peaks – installation location

After a throttle damper has died in a W202 and there are some opinions that the voltage peaks when reconnecting the battery would be the reason for this, I am interested in the following: Are overvoltage protection devices used in cars? If yes – in what number – at which installation location or at which installation locations is a simple 12V/500A DC metal oxide varistor sufficient for discharge? For example Conrad there is an overvoltage protection for approx. 11€ with connection cables. A surge protection is usually effective when it is installed where voltage peaks arise or penetrate a grid. What sources of voltage peaks can be in the on-board electronics?

  • Question about rust on brakes

Hi guys, because I don’t move my car very often, because I don’t commute to work or anything, it often stands a few days until I drive it again. I also have a passive driving style. That cost me a lot, because the brakes from the old car eventually had “Riefen” or something and I had to replace them. Now I have a new car and at least changed my driving style, that I take care to get into the iron from time to time to keep the brakes blank. Unfortunately, i d in the test time apparently not enough on the road and there were the brakes baked (after about 1 week standing), then got rid of each other in a jerky way and since then I have the feeling that they can no longer be completely free braked. Now I’m pretty scared that already called again form or similar. Now to the question: Can I do something about it myself to examine the situation 1) To improve ? 2) ? So my idea is to take down the wheels and possibly rust on the disc Can I also check the pads? So I imagine it similar to the brake pads of my MTB, which I like to take out and grind them off if they do not run well. (clear, are other dimensions) Is this generally conceivable or absolute nonsense? Due to my last rides with proper braking, the “brake feeling” is unfortunately not as good as at first. To the age of the brakes: about 1.5 years with very little brake insert (just from time to time extra g Elats to get down flight rust, otherwise I like to let roll out and drive forward) Thank you for your advice! 🙂 Greetings ben PS: Yes, I used the search function and no, none of the topics have answered my questions this way

  • What is short distance ? What can you do ?

2014-er Diesel…2.2 CRDI…DPF: What is short distance ? With me 2 x per day about 12 km and then again a few km (up to 10…15) per day, curvy distance mountain up and down…after about 7 km the temp. indicator is now in winter where it stops even during longer operation. If it is short distance, what can you do then (fuel additives / so I meant not to sell the diesel) ? Have read “What are short distances?”…but the second question is always/often “sold” b e-answers…

  • HALO candles – more power, less verb?

Hello! I have just read an article on so-called “HALO candles” on tuningteile.de. Supposedly these should last a long time (120,000 km), increase the performance (up to 10%) and also reduce the consumption and the pollutant output. That sounds like a miracle… What do you think about it? Has anyone had experience with the product? I don’t know if I should believe all this… Thanks! Ciao

  • Must recharge my battery at the latest every 3 weeks!! Ask for your help!!

Halli dear friends here in the forum. I still have (unfortunately) a very big problem with my battery. I have described this problem here before and received good tips from you. I own a VW Polo 1.4 16 V, 86 hp. It is built in 2010, and has up to now 22000 km on the hump. Unfortunately, I have constantly the problem with a battery that is very heavily discharged after a maximum of 3 weeks. In the vehicle is a 45 AH battery installed. I drive with it every day to work, the but not more than 3 km away. Must unfortunately use the car for this distance, because I have a very badly damaged hip, and bike or scooters fail. Was with the problem already with the friendly. He allegedly checked everything, i.e. alternator, battery power, and also the rest current consumption. The rest current consumption was according to the friendly 55 milliampere hours. The friendly then pushed this on the allegedly short distances of me, because the Time of the ride just wouldn’t be enough to recharge the battery again. But now I have to say that I was driving a 110 HP TDI, Golf IV before. It had exactly the same driving distance. And with that I had never had an empty battery. Not at all regular. Can it be that VW in this case simply saved on the generator and installed a very low performance? That can really only recharge the vehicle on longer distances? I’m looking forward to your contributions. Had this topic here as I said before. But I can’t believe the saying of the friendly one so easily, because with the predecessor GolfIV I’ve never had these problems as I said before. Look forward to your contributions and wash everyone here a nice and relaxing Sunday. Lg Tom:-)

  • 3 sound truck fanfare in the car

Hello. I’m looking for a 3 sound fanfare that sounds like truck/trucks. More precisely, I’m looking for something that sounds relatively similar to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icnRMW6P9nc And no, I don’t want to scare people with it I just like the sound of WELTEN better than that of most mic 0815 auto horns. I know, there are already threads about this. But I didn’t find a affordable horn/fanfare/honn with such a sound. At least none of the ones you can find are in Austria (and probably also Germany) admitted / registered. With the Americans it all seems to be a little easier…. Does anyone have an idea where to get something like this? Best such a set where everything you need is included. (Fanfare, compressor, …) PS: Even if the date makes it possible to guess – this should NOT be Aprillschertz happy about your answers MfG Domi

  • Experience with Monzol5© as a diesel additive

Since my proposal has received a positive response in the main thread,http://www.motor-talk.de/…/…-oel-dieselfuel-t623039.html?… I am creating an extra Monzol5© thread here for the reviews and discussions. At this point it is placed across the brand and accessible for all. The original main thread http://www.motor-talk.de/…/2-stroke-oel-dieselfuel-t623039.html is to continue to address the topic of a 2-stroke oil admixture to the diesel fuel. Onzol5©, which some of us are already using, is no longer a “2-stroke oil”, rather a “broadband diesel additive”, as its creator says. Therefore, it makes sense to treat the Monzol5© separately as a standalone product. I hope you agree with me. My order is still on the way, so I can’t report anything on experience. Some have already commented on it in the main thread. Can you please post your reports again at this point. Thank you. Greetings to Dieselpanscher, Georg

  • Other ignition/start speed in (super) sports car?

If I look at videos of starting supercars, e.g.Aston Martinhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1zDlqhqaBM I always notice that 1) the ignition will ignite longer (“zzzz noise”) 2) the speed after starting is short-term higher than with “weak” everyday cars Is all this only show and sound design, or also technically necessary, because of the large cylinder capacity or 12 cylinders? Also with the S600, which should be designed to be “decent”, I have this longer ignition device h… and the “start gas shock” seems to be more than usual (video e.g. this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc08SRWDUh8)

  • Which lamp should I take???

Hey guys, I finally ordered new headlights for my BMW E34, and wanted to spoil it with fresh pears (light bulbs )…. Now the question arises, which ones do I take???? At Golf 2 I had the Night Breaker in, and they were really top, but meanwhile there are also good ones from Phillips e.g….. I am concerned that I have as much as possible in light yield, because I drive almost 6 months almost only in the dark, and I drive constantly a lot on extre m dark roads, even in summer, when I can only drive 100km of road home at 2 am…… I also have lamps in my vehicle H1 which will not change with the new Scheusis What would you recommend??? Gruss Marc
