Hello dear ones! As usual of me a somewhat “strange” question. I will soon spend two nights in the car (i30cw). For the sanitary facilities and co. I drive to a camping site. Now there is electricity there and I would like to be able to work something on the notebook or similar in the evening. Therefore the “dumb” question. How do I get the power cable into the car? How flexible are the seals, if you briefly clamp a cable between and if yes, at which place the best ? At the top of the door, I think the gap is the biggest!?!? Alternatively, of course, you can make something to clamp between the, a little down, windows. That would work, but I’d prefer a solution with a completely closed car. Does anyone have an idea or a thought for me? Thank you!

Battery – short circuit – came together while bridging poles. Could what have happened?
Hello everybody, something not so pleasant happened to me just before and now make me a head over it: When I bridged the cables I got together twice for a short time. That means 2 times a short circuit of the poles for maybe half a second. I found no other thread now, so I create a new one here. There were logically more violent sparks but also managed to bring the cables apart quickly. But I couldn’t prevent it, that they came together a second time. Hmmm, okay, it’s happened now. I can imagine that it wasn’t good; especially for the battery. I couldn’t check the vehicle electronics for function anymore, but at the same time I assume that it didn’t damage it. What happened now from a technical point of view? The battery suffered a short circuit for a short time. This caused an extremely high discharge due to the low-resistance bridge cable. I think it was too short together that cables and wires could get warm. What happened now (in) the battery? I would now like to know and so calm my conscience, if the battery and/or the onboard electronics could have happened or if that has not done anything yet? Vehicle is an Opel Astra Caravan, 1.7 Turbodiesel, BJ 1992 Battery is still a zie The diesel engine starts immediately even in cold weather… Many greetings and already a big thank you!! Thomas

Scratches on brake discs
Hello all, I had received new brake pads on the front axle for the passat, as part of the service a few days ago. When I spent nearly 1000km on the highway this weekend, I looked at the brakes at a break and noticed the following scratches / stains on the brake discs. (See pictures) I now ask myself two questions. – How can this happen when changing brake pads? A writing is quite massive and hard, because one beats a n Is it just a macke of felt 1mm deep and 1cm length pure. – How critical do you think that? Should I complain to VW and ask for an explanation or is that problem-free? I didn’t feel any negative effects when braking. There are other such bugs on the other disc, which I can’t photograph at the moment. The Macke shown is the biggest if I remember it right. Thanks VG

Cable diameter
Moin, a question to the electricians among you. From the battery to a possible distributor 50qmm2 copper cable. From the distributor to the subwoofer (15qmm2) and amplifier (25qmm2) each specially secured. From the distributor the two standard plus cables from the mini. Either 2 times 25qmm2 or 35qmm2, I do not know the exact cross-section. In my old table book I still found that you can load 16qmm2 with max. 65A. Therefore this would have to fit with 50qmm2 or lead a s ole configuration to problems?

Coolant change without clamping and venting
Hello, For the replacement of the cooler liquid, I can not just clamp the return flow on the balance tank and when the engine is running, the water pump can pump the old coolant into a container, while I continuously fill up new liquid in the balance tank? Once I have used up the new canister, the liquid should also be through once. OK, maybe you can not get out any deep slurry, if it is the after 5 years sc But as a measure in between without a lift and without a ventilator it makes sense? Thank you,

Generator car – why was there never one?
Hello, why don’t you think there was never a car with a generator? No, I don’t mean the range extender. There are diesel forklifts that have a burner but are electrically powered. There are diesel locomotives. a generator generates electricity and the locomotive drives electric. Today there are ships that are genaators and are electrically powered. Why not a generrator car with a motor bike engine? What is against it?

Measuring pressure on air conditioning system itself
Hello and good morning, I would like to measure the rest pressures on the connections of low and high pressure line myself at the car air conditioning system (without having to use an air conditioning service unit) in order to get an indication of the level of the system. And that is screwed into the connection with a pressure gauge, as in the picture. To the 1st question: The internal thread of the connections (see graphic) are probably different from manufacturer to manufacturer? or is the thread size uniform? Possibility 2: M mount anometer on a quick coupling and determine the pressure on this way. to question 2: Is the quick coupling short-term lost in the installation and loosening of climate gas? (like the tyre filling) Never worked with a quick coupling before. thank you and love

Brake a little tight – definitely change brake discs with?
Hello! It’s about a car in which a front disc brake seems to be heavy. The vehicle was moved on a highway and the driver noticed high-frequency whistle during the ride. On a parking lot she noticed strong smell on the respective side and a hot rim. I bucked it up and, if you push the respective wheel, it stops after 1/2 – 3/4 revolution. The brake disc is not quite smooth, but has feelable grooves ( The vehicle is expected to be delivered by the end of the year due to mileage and age (waste or export). Therefore, it is not planned to invest so much. At the same time, it is clear that safety is taking place – especially in the case of brakes. Now I wanted to overtake the brake piston with a spare kit (otherwise new caliper). Perhaps also on the other side. Normally I would have brake pads and sc But I’m thinking about whether it’s not enough to leave the old windows on it for the few months. The minimum thickness is still there. They’re only about 3 years old. Brake pads must certainly be new, because they are probably glazed on one side. But you can only see that when you have dismantled everything. Do you think that the heat on one side has caused such damage that they now have to be replaced on both sides? Thank you for eu re answers.

Diesel, Aral Ultimate or Shell V Power Diesel?
Hello municipality, for a little over a year I have been a diesel driver and owner for the first time in my career. Do I imagine it, or does it actually bring better running quietness and ignition behavior when driving with Premium Diesel? Thank you for the numerous answers. woka11

Tips for self-construction of brake line replacement?
Moin people, At my old bucket, the Berlingo of 2001, I can’t get around the partial replacement of brake lines anymore. The TÜV has already grumbled the last 2 times, I have always treated and greased them since then but now they are brown and thick on the cable clips. But only the directly under the vehicle. The steel cables and the rear brake hoses are now the last one. Before that there were already new brake pads, a new brake caliper and last winter I had the I have bought the KS-Tools Flarefix Eco, with ATE steel lines and connectors. Probes have already been successful. Is it really easy to do so. Now I’m making brake lines for the first time, can you give me practical tips on what I should pay attention to and what I should not forget? I put on a photo of the sample piece. Now I have 2 questions: 1.: On picture 2 you can see light scratches of d I would put some tough grease under the cable screw to protect it. Or not a good idea? 2.: You remove something (2mm or so) from the coating before you turn around? Otherwise I have to stick it in the bundle. Or whatever? Achso, comments such as “you should have it done in the workshop” are not desired. That just messes up every thread and is counterproductive. Thank you!
