Hello everybody, I have been reading silently for a while. Now I have a question and hope for your advice. It’s about my Toyota Carina E, BJ 1996. At the TÜV control it was found that the parking brake does not pull right back. In addition, the brake in the rear left strongly grinds. Lever path Hand brake also too long. Measurement values Parking brake left: 120 daN right: 30 daN Measurement values Operating brake in the rear left: 180 daN right: 170 daN As far as no drama is concerned, the brake will stop Yesterday, I was in the workshop to order appointments and parts. In my opinion, the costs of more than 500 € are a bit too high. Repair expenses: – Pads Drum brake on both sides – set-up kit on both sides – brake cylinders on both sides – brake fluid change – accessories incl. maker’s wage The service employee did not open or look at the brake. All parts were ordered and according to his statement, what is installed is what On my request, whether new brake cylinders (last change 01/2011) as well as new brake fluid (last change 01/2013) are absolutely necessary, was answered with yes. How do you see the set up for the parts? Can this fit or will probably try to sell parts are not necessary? Repair date is this Saturday, car will be delivered Friday afternoon. Would be nice if I could get some opinions from you by then. Greetings Mario

Windshield defective
Hello, I shot the bird myself: I bought a used golf from a VW dealer and also saw during the test drive that the windshield has a Macke. I didn’t think anything about it, but now after the first inspection got the hint that the Macke HU is relevant. Now I don’t know how to deal with it. In any case I will contact the dealer, since I still have time to report a lack of material (which will bring it anyway). Do you use this Macke – it is about 8 mm wide and also deep? What would be a good strategy to deal with the dealer? Thank you for a hint. Greetings Hinai

VW T91 Learning remote control to retrofitted Webasto pre-heating?
Hello As the title already reveals, I would like to learn the VW remote control to a later built-in Webasto auxiliary heating. The thing is this: In my Golf 5 I retrofitted a pre-heater with T91 receiver last year. Now I would like to learn a second remote control to the T91 receiver. At ebay I find unfortunately only the original VW remote control, which I find much more beautiful there is a VW logo in it anyway. Is it possible with the VW remote control I would like to use the following remote control offered by ebay with the receiver installed on me:http://www.ebay.de/…/170700862733?… As I said it would be enough if I could switch off and switch off the auxiliary heating with the remote control. Many Dan k in advance and all readers a nice WE greetings Maico

Power consumption of internal combustion engines?
Hello everyone, I learned last week that oil refineries use electricity that is not taken into account in the CO2 calculation. That is, they consume a huge amount of electricity! So much that the refineries have refused to publish these values since 2006. Maybe one or the other should think again before starting an “efficiency discussion” of electric cars and power plants to consider these values. It was once said that with Here is a page with the latest data from 2005:http://www.nationmaster.com/…/Consumption-by-petroleum-refineries This would mean that the combustion engine not only burns fuel, but also electricity that had never been included in the balance sheet before. I believe that if you know that, then any discussion about the efficiency of electric cars will be unnecessary. No matter how economical a verbren This is also a nice video about the topic, unfortunately only in English:http://youtu.be/BQpX-9OyEr4 saludos joered

Standard xenon without headlight washing system?
Hello together, the topic Xenon and SRA appears here again and again, but then only with regard to retrofits. But what is it exactly different about now? So a vehicle was delivered as standard with Xenon and SRA. Then the vehicle obviously got another original bumper but WITHOUT SRA. The bumper has the E-mark etc. and would therefore be allowed in principle. I wonder how this can be, since the vehicle in question is basically In addition, it was always delivered with Xenon and therefore there should be no bumper without SRA at all… Maybe there was also someone tinkering with the bumper and the holes for the SRA… at first glance it is not recognizable that there were holes for the SRA. But regardless of this: If the car was delivered as standard with SRA and Xenon and now the SRA is no longer available, then the vehicle must not be used on public roads either. and how would it be if the SRA were present, but it didn’t work? Thanks and greeting Schutzschi

Resetting track due to defective steering gear?
I recently hit a curb with about 40km/h, which resulted in broken rim and shaky slanted steering. I then let a mechanic’s acquaintance see through it – a track rod was bent, and the half-axle cuff was broken (although probably not due to the accident). Both were changed, and the track was re-set. When I picked up the car he also drove straight ahead. However, shortly afterwards I drove in the car. n vacation – from Vienna to Croatia – and during the ride the car began to move more and more tending to the left. Until I had driven the 600 km to Croatia, the whole thing was so bad that I could not leave out the steering wheel on the highway at all, but had to constantly steer strongly against it (right strenuous…). With a skilful steering wheel I was able to drive a large roundabout, so strongly pulled the steering to the left! he was looking, he re-set the track, could or didn’t want to tell me if the former mechanic had screwed up or not. However, he also changed the steering gear, because it was defective, and put up new (used) front tyres, because the old (though also by steering back) were over. The question is now: Has the first mechanic done something wrong or overlooked something, or can it be that the track is in such a short time only because of the defective steering gear?

Cameras as a solution for narrow driveway?
I have already written in another forum what my problem is: with soon three children I need a bigger car than my current A-Class. Cars like the Touran may not be big enough, cars like the Sharan don’t fit into my narrow driveway or just close. Now I have thought about the following: can’t you equip a big car like Sharan with a camera system so that you can see if you are scratching at the sides when you drive into the driveway? The stupid thing is that the sensors are on the outside mirrors and they have to be folded when I drive into the driveway. After all, the side view at Mercedes also works with the other sensors. Volkswagen unfortunately only seems to install this at the Tiguan, but obviously not at the models I described. My questions: there are any cars in the category Minivan, where one can have such cameras installed by the manufacturer? Return camera nice and good, but that does not help me with my narrow courtyard entrance. Parking aids also not. If no, I have seen that one can have such a thing retrofitted. How reliable are such options, and what costs arise in some way? Are there possibly technical obstacles when installing certain cars? Thank you and greetings. Andydomingo

Small lead battery for support when changing batteries
Hello together, at the Dacia, EZ ’07, my Holden has long announced the death of the first battery (start problems, if the box is longer, so a week and more, while otherwise everything is tiptop) and this morning after the long weekend (so the intervals are also shorter) it was time, he wanted a small donation from my car. 😉 Anyway, I ordered a new battery, made me smart about the battery exchange, everything best so far, only me the hint is very pleased, that I can support the on-board voltage during the operation with another battery or a charging device, that I do not have to reprogram radio afterwards again etc… I don’t have both now, only for camping and crafts a small lead battery, 12V, 7Ah. That would have to be enough, right? The car won’t pull that much electricity if ignition is off, no consumer runs etc… Look forward to your assessment! 🙂

Question on hybrid vehicles
I don’t know if this topic has been discussed here somewhere, but I have been wondering a few things about the hybrid vehicles for some time now. Why are there only hybrid vehicles that switch from a certain speed / xx km to pure combustion engines or stop those where the electric motor only “supports” the combustion engine? With locomotives and ships the diesel-electric drive is quite common. r permanently on a generator, which supplies the current for the driving motors. – no heavy batteries need to be installed – the problem of charging is eliminated – the power characteristics and the torque of the electric motor can be used fully

Charging car battery with SOLAR?
Hello, my car is standing.Often a few weeks and I have a 70Ah AGM battery inside. I bought two solar set with charge controller once 70A and once 60A. I wanted to ask, is the charge controller too high with the 60A should I rather buy one with 20A and secondly you can install the system as described on the photo of the set? It is purely about charging the battery. You can adjust the charge controller how high the charge voltage is zb 14.4 volt max. ed to the 60A charging controllers and 20A charging controllers Thanks to everyone!
