  • Press the cooling system, how long does the pressure have to be kept?

Hello, after I had problems with cooling water loss again and again, I borrowed a printer yesterday. I gave 1.2 bar overpressure on the system, as VW recommends, but they do not express themselves to the duration. After half an hour the pressure had already dropped to 1bar, after a little more than 4 hours it is slightly more than 0.7 bar overpressure. The system is leaking in my eyes – it must actually also be able to keep up 8h without loss… (?) because if I am 8h The leak is also visible, despite the fact that I have tried to replace the clamp for a hose clamp, tightened with the prescribed moment according to the Norma data sheet. The socket is new and close to its bolting point.

  • Engine oil difference 75w and 75w-80

Good evening, can someone please explain the difference between transmission oil 75W and transmission oil 75W-80 to me. In my car the clutch was changed, if I let go of the clutch in the stand you can now hear such a light flap noise. If you then kick the clutch and let go again it is usually gone. It is also not always there. It comes from the rear end of the transmission. Drive and switch it can be quite normal. Filled in Mannol MTF -4 75W-80, instead of the prescribed a Tutela Transmission Gearforce 75w.Do you think the sounds can be caused by the wrong oil?

  • Push car with tow bar

Good evening, dear community, in 2 weeks I get delivered by a transport company a Dodge Costum Royal (Automatic) bought by me. The car is roll & steerable (Kardan removed). If the car has left off the trailer in the driveway it still has to be transported about 15 meters into a shed. Pushing by man power I do not think, because it goes through a meadow. Can I theoretically back to my Allroad Quattro a tow bar to the eyelet or trailer coupling make (or front the eyelet) and push the car like that ? I think yes it goes, but the sliding load is comparable to pulling. My car can pull 2500kg, the other car weighs about 1800kg. Thanks in advance

  • Boat on the bicycle carrier for the trailer coupling

Hello, I have a bicycle carrier for two bikes. Now I want to buy a GFK boat. But the boat does not fit into the car. The boat weighs about 45 kg. That is much less than the support load for the trailer coupling. The car is about 2m wide and the boat is about 2.45m long. I would have such a supernatant of about 20 cm. So from the technical data it should fit. Now to the question: Does something speak against that that I fasten the little boat on it? would not know that the road traffic regulations or ABE make any differences between loads. Unless any criterion is exceeded…

  • Wheels rotate opposite after coupling change

Hello, I changed the clutch in my car and now screwed the wheels back on again. In the still broken condition I noticed that 1. the wheels can be turned despite the inserted first gear and 2. the opposite wheel turns along and in opposite direction. 3. In idle mode they turn in the same direction, but only briefly. I did not adjust anything at the gearbox except that I have closed and connected the switching cables for the gearbox expansion. Do you have any idea what’s going on here? Is this a basic set-up in the gearbox? I have not started the engine again as a precaution. Could this possibly solve the problem? Does anyone know a website where the problem is described and solved? Unfortunately, I have found nothing useful. Thank you for your help!

  • Wipe it off?

Hello together, Today I was at a workshop that also looked after the factory cars of my employer and is only a few 100 m away from the operation. It was about my GOLF V (1K1) 1.4 FSI, year 2004 Diagnosis: – front wheel hub must be replaced 260 ,- – brake disc back right must be replaced – 270 ,- (can you not make both together = 2 x material; 1 x assembly?) Then came another call: – brake pads/blocks back right must be replaced 370 ,- Total 900 But I’m only layman. So far I’ve had everything done by an acquaintance, who is however prevented in the long term. I asked a friend and let him tell me that it would be much cheaper in other workshops, or if an acquaintance does it. Workshop called. I was told it was already dismantled and the reassembly would of course cost. It’s my fault, of course, that I originally agreed directly and he workshop did, I only thought of about 100-150 €. Can’t have taken too long. I received the invoice for 296 € gross in the workshop. I only had laymen, but even with an hourly wage of 100 € one would have needed 2.5 hours. That screams for incompetence, usury or even both. The worst thing is, of course, that I could have avoided it, I would have said directly that the prices did not fit me. Basically, I would have even compared before. However, I never expected such amounts. My chance for a complaint is over, but I’m still interested in whether the amounts are justified. What are your experiences? PS: Please excuse me if I made any mistakes. The whole thing was only a few hours ago.

  • How do you detect wear?

Aloha, my car had run during the inspection one month ago (70000km, mostly foresight driven, so let it roll and slow down little). When I picked up my car, the technician said that some of my car had to be made. Brakes were completely down at the front –> have to be new crossbars would be both scrap –> have to lick new shock absorbers at the back –> have to be new Since I didn’t notice anything about it and after a few posts here in the forum for a not good hold, I wanted to know: what can I, as layman, recognize/check whether the above mentioned parts are really already closed? Thank you and greeting reefton

  • Turbocharger charge pressure surplus

Good evening, have a question: the following scenario: You drive by car (motor charged with turbo) and go off the gas at full gas. Therefore the turbocharger continues to rotate. However, since the throttle valve is closed, an overpressure would now arise in the compressor side and slow down the turbo, or possibly destroy it? 1.) How is the excess charging pressure reduced? Have already researched a bit and am now at the following level. Please correct if what f thanch is. Blow-off valves are installed, which simply let the charging pressure out into the open (hence the hissing of the whole tuned carts). But is ineffective because the turbo has to return to speed at the subsequent gas. Thus a turbo hole arises again. But there are apparently also so-called thrust air valves, which hold the loader at speed with a certain circuit. 2.) Can anyone explain this to me more precisely? Is it too complicated for me on all the other sides :/ 3.)Which principle is used with conventional vehicles? 4.) Is there a difference between petrol and diesel engines? I also read that it is somehow no use with diesel engines. Don’t understand why … Thanks already in advance!

  • Strength of brake discs – where to measure? Tolerances?

Have given my S-Max for inspection with the words please change brake fluid, brakes themselves must be still in order (since I had measured them at the tyre change about 1500 km before). At collection it was said that the blocks were still in order, but the discs would be with 8.9 mm below the wear limit of 9.0, I should absolutely let the before the next bigger ride change. They immediately, however, did not dare to change them. I just measured: 9,15 9.35 approx. 8 mm further inside 9, 55 – 9.7 everywhere else (I can’t measure the inner 1 cm) Measuring medium: Digital slide gauge with two carefully aligned M3 nuts for bridging the bead, repro. 0.02 mm. Questions: 1) Does the thickness count at the thinnest place or the average? 2) Do they make any deduction for measurement errors in the workshop?
