  • Rasenmower crankshaft: how much lateral impact is “normal”?

    hello, my lawnmower with B&S motor had been touched with the knife enemy. damaged knife was removed. with running motor (knife removed) with a screwdriver at the center of the knife grinding shows side impact, estimated 1-2mm. height impact – no one can be detected at the meter image as well as at the top. game has the crankshaft none. question: to what extent is a side impact of 1-2mm normal ? me would especially experience values inte thank you in advance !

  • Keep diesel in the canister

    Hello guys, I’d like to know if it still makes sense to keep diesel in the canister today. I currently have two cars, both common-rail diesel. And I’d like to fill 2 metal canisters every 20L with caution. Does it technically make sense? Especially with regard to the common-rail engine. At my Audi, the high-pressure pump was defective and it transported chips into the pipes. Did a rod cost me money. Does it make sense to store diesel like this? And what do you do with a new canister? Can you just fill it like that or do I have to fear that there are still chips in it that the injectors can add?

  • The vehicle is still moving to the left.

    Hello together, my car has been pulling left for a while and even with new tires and although I had the track adjusted, not much of the behavior has changed and this is annoying so slowly.   • 3 months after brake change in workshop: brake disc annealed and surface melted

    Hello guys, I need your swarm knowledge again! The following scenario: I had my brakes on the front axle made anew about 3 months ago (ply + disc). They were already pretty blank and squeaked. In the workshop then changed, as far as everything was good. Now I did a 2h tour with mountain passages in the currently hot weather. Suddenly it started to stink and smoke. Directly stopped and noticed that it comes from the front left brake system. No F The tyre pressure was already at 350 kPa due to the heating compared to the 290 of the other tyres. I put the car in the same workshop today and described the events. They examined it and said that it comes from a clogged/squeaked brake hose. The manchet on the brake piston has melted and it has to be completely overhauled. The brake disc and brake blocks are och ok (?!). To my question: Wouldn’t that have had to be noticed during the change three months ago (e.g. when the brakes are ventilated)?. Is it just an excuse because a faulty assembly caused the overheating (was also only at the front left) ? Can I still drive with the brake disc and pads (burned/glazed)? Thanks already! LG JM

  • Mount other exhaust flaps and through the TÜV?

    Servus times a question, my RS5 has exhaust flaps as standard. They tend to flap again and again as soon as the stock has game (happens already from 30,000km). But with me the flaps are completely fixed and do not close anymore. I rather have little desire to get the same exhaust system again (is with MSD and both end pots, individually there are neither the flaps nor the rear silencers at Audi). My plan would be to flex the tailpipe and then install new stainless steel flaps to the original control unit. . Do you think that I come through the TÜV with it if it is only a repair and not a “tuning” or “mute” ? It is to mice. In the pictures you can possibly recognize what I mean.   • Halogen lamps Ageing

    Day by day, in my car I have had the same H4 for 8 years. Especially under adverse conditions e.g. wet or oncoming traffic I see quite little. That was already before, I think at least, but less pronounced. Can it be that the lamps subside? The headlights themselves are according to the age in order. I also often think that other road users are much brighter on the road. So also those that seem to have halogen lamps. What are your expectations? have you exchanged working old lamps? The Internet gives contradictory answers regarding the aging of halogen lamps.

    a technical question one hears a defective pressure bearing/remote bearing from the coupling during the journey, in the coupled condition? runs this bearing, coupled freely with, or is this loaded?

  • Unknown component in car charger

    I own a maintenance charger (named by the manufacturer) with a plug power supply on one side and a plug for the cigarette lighter on the other side. It also works, but unfortunately not as described in the user manual and expected of me. Because it does not shut down when a charging closing tension is reached, but continues to march until I get too much at 16 volts and plug it off. I can’t use it now unattended, like I thought. Since a return is not possible, I now try to find out what is wrong with it and I came across a component inside that I do not (yet) know. On the attached image it is the brown part that looks like a capacitor (but no one can be because the entire charging current flows through) and is labeled “PS” on the circuit board. PS as a designation for an electronic component doesn’t tell me anything. Maybe it’s a kind of thermal protection?

  • Workshop repairs more than you want it to?

    Hello, I’m not sure if my topic fits into this forum, but I didn’t find any more suitable than this one. It’s about the following. On 31.05 I gave my focus to the workshop with the please about timing belt changes (mundl. KVA 320€). On Friday evening I called to ask if I could pick up the car again. I was told at the earliest Monday because now still a roll on the V-belt, Ventiel cover seal and all spark plugs are exchanged (all parts sh 200-300€ more. I’m a trainee and I don’t even have 200-300€ lying around somewhere. The question is: can the workshop just do more repairs without asking me beforehand or can I charge the costs on account of the fact that I can’t pay everything at once as written above? I thank you for your help.
