Hello, the following question I had already asked in the RV & Caravan Forum, but unfortunately no answer was received. I am currently asking which coolant is suitable for which engines, or which motors containing silicate and which motors need silicate-free coolants and since when there is any distinction between silicate-free and silicate-containing and for what silicate is good and where harmful. I am aware that one should first look at the respective operating instructions, but for some vehicles this does not always lead to the desired success. For example, “nitrite-free long-term frost and corrosion protection agents” are required, but no statement about the silicate content is made. I am quite sure that one should not mix silicate-containing and silicate-free coolants, or only under certain conditions, but that is why it should be by the way. Otherwise, I have collected rather contradictory statements, which I do not want to repeat here. I look forward to expert answers. My regards Herbert PS: here there was a similar question a few years ago, which was not answered sufficiently for me.

Gasoline hose leaks – how to patch? What is the best replacement?
Hello dear community, I restore a BMW E21 323i from 1981, a long-term project. So that the car does not get any damage or e.g. the brakes get stuck, I let the engine run warm from time to time and move the car something in the private parking lot adjacent here. That actually works quite well. A good 2 years ago the car was once in a workshop. There were among others petrol pump, petrol filter, pressure storage and a petrol hose replaced. After that the engine did not jump so well And there was a slight smell of gasoline. Nevertheless, the engine was running. Now it was no longer the case. The engine was spinning cleanly, but the smell of gasoline increased and petrol from the right tank was dripping into the road. My analysis showed that the “new” gas hose had a crack that probably got bigger due to the petrol pressure and thus no more petrol arrived at the front. I once added two photos of it. I would have two questions to you and would be very much about yours. 1.) How can I fix the petrol hose temporarily, so that it is reasonably dense? I want to start the car again over the winter and be able to move something. 2.) Are there quality differences with petrol hoses? Which is the best and where can I get it? In the spring I would replace all petrol hoses completely. Thank you very much for your support! Bye Jan

Car park for 6 years
Hello together, have a 24 year old Mitsubishi L300 2,5 D. After it costs 683 Euro tax per year and I drive hardly more than 1000 km a year with it, I would like to silence it for the next 6 years and then make an H-approval with it. Tax should then be flat-rate below 200 Euro. For the H-approval I have to “honey it up” but somewhere I don’t want to give it away. Currently the TÜV would be due again, therefore the chance to lay down style is favorable. Is this enough twice a year? If I do this with 5 day registration, I must always have a valid TÜV for registration. That would be about 200 euros a year for 2x 5 day registration with insurance and TÜV annual fee. I also thought about whether you can bring the car with trailer to blocked place and drive there a few laps (e.g. traffic training area (without insurance ??)) Or just again all oils we Chsel and simply put off. Maybe remove brake pads and oil everything thick. What tips do you have? Greeting Peter

How quickly can ATF degenerate?
Is it plausible that fresh ATF is already degenerated after 3 years and 35,000 km so far that the gearbox shows symptoms in the form of pounding transducer bridge and fluctuating speed in partial load? Or do I have to assume that the workshop made a mistake at the time? The car had already covered 150,000 km with the factory filling before the oil change. 3 years after the oil change, the symptoms first appeared and became increasingly clear over time. r Troubleshooting in other places they are now suddenly gone after another oil change.

Electronic overkill in modern cars: What do you think?
http://www.sportauto.de/…/…overkill-in-modern-autos-7741550.html I can agree with the article in many ways. Some of what is currently being done in supposedly modern cars is just ridiculous. The worst thing for me is the current touchscreen mode, where important main functions like e.g. the volume of the radio or climate functions are banished to ́s touchsreen, which unfortunately cannot be operated blindly, like with a simple turntable In this respect, the legislator’s chain of argumentation is to prohibit the use of a mobile phone without an FSE in the car (not only for making a phone call) and to take this into his own hands (to control the original time, date or check a caller without receiving the conversation…) with an OWI penalty, but to allow the far more distracting touchscreens and not to set constructive limits here, almost absurd. How do you see this?

Do all modern steering wheels no longer have an inner metal ring?
I once saw a Citroen DS, about BJ `73, which was burnt out. The plastic of the steering wheel was melted away and it remained a metal ring. Now I saw on the TV a burnt out Phaeton, there was nothing to see from the steering wheel. From the hub was finished. Do all modern cars have steering wheels that are only made of plastic, without inner metal ring, or do some still have it?

Steering wheel interface Duration plus 12V
Hi all, I have a question regarding the installation of a steering wheel interface by acv. So far everything is clear to me, only there is a yellow cable with a fuse that should be connected to permanent 12V. As I understand it, it should pull the current from the OBD plug. Only how do I connect it? I have attached a picture (and marked the cable with a circle). Would I be happy about help

Can an AGM battery be installed in a car year 2001 (Volvo C70) ?
Hy, I have AGM batteries on the boat and I know what that was like at that time for a HickHack, for example charger ect. Now my in the car is not so great anymore, and I still have a suitable good AGM over. Can I just install and connect them? If you ask yourself what exactly the difference is, to my knowledge, you can charge the AGM faster and higher, and these would have sealed chambers like a kind of gel, instead of liquid. The newer cars already have many AGM inside, which I also have Wondering if I’m gonna break something on the on-board electronics or something like that!? THANK YOU in advance lg

Sell new spare parts as private
Hello dear forum, unfortunately I did not find a really suitable subforum and hope to reach someone here. I bought various new parts from a car dealership from their warehouse from a insolvency auction, with the ulterior motive to sell a few of them. Unfortunately I had so far neither on eBay, classified ads nor at companies the such a success. Now I wanted to ask if you still know a way to sell these, since I have been on the stuff for ages now ze and these also consume space. Greetings freight33/Markus

Negative experience with ECU repair
You can read a lot about the business practices of a certain Thomas Overbeck from Bremen in Internetforen, if you know the name and this person. I had been looking for a company in November 2015 that can repair a steering control unit of a VW Touran of the 1st generation, because at VW the control unit cannot be changed, but the entire steering gear including the control unit is replaced (control units of the 1st generation are no longer manufactured). Since the Internet presence (http://www.vilektra.de/) made a serious impression, I had (unfortunately) decided for this company without further research. So I printed out the application form for the repair order and sent the control unit with the completed order to Vilektra. About 1 week later on 18.11.15 I received an invoice by e-mail for a good 150 € and an offer for an additional 487,90 €. At the Rechnun g was the remark: “Control unit was already opened to the customer. In this case, unfortunately, we can not offer any repair. “In the offer was an AT control unit from a Ford Transit year 1999. Since the AT device from an old Ford Transit seemed a bit suspicious to me and I knew that our control unit was not opened before, I called for clarification at Vilektra. The ladies at the other end assured me: “The technician” calls back. On 20.11.15 then came to me He Rr Overbeck telephoned and said he was the managing director. I told him personally that the control unit had not been opened before and asked for an explanation. Mr. O. then said that he would try to reach the “technician” via his mobile phone. During our phone call Mr. O. then made the other phone call, whereby I can’t tell if he was actually on the phone with another person. Then Mr. O. informed me that the control unit The reference text in the invoice was a mistake due to the fact that his Polish technician could not express himself so well in writing. I thanked for the call and asked me to think about the AT-device. Even the fact that Mr Overbeck presented himself as managing director aroused even more suspicion with me, since on the invoice another person stated as managing director was not responsible. ar (Thomas Karl Kisil). On a later phone call Mr. O. then stated that he was the shareholder of Vilektra and the managing director was his employee. But now I started to research with the name of Mr. O. on the Internet and to my horror I found many negative contributions. For me it was now clear that I will not accept the dubious offer with an ECU from an old Ford Transit especially since the offer was provided with the following hints: “The coding m 1 year warranty on the AT-device (except for damage caused by: … improper installation, fault on the vehicle, foreign influence e.g. coding, opening of the device etc.) After my control unit was finally sent back (from Düren), I immediately sent it to Glaubitz. The nice thing about the Glaubitz company is also that you get an acknowledgement of receipt, which was not the case with Vilektra. And the technician of the Glaubitz company also contacted me to tell me that there is a certain risk, since you don’t know what might be harmful due to the previous opening at “Vilektra” But we were lucky again and the Fa. Glaubitz was able to repair the control unit. I had it installed again and since then the steering system has functioned perfectly again. By the way, the control unit and the engine on it were also completely cleaned at the Fa. Glaubitz and then looked like new again. Then I started to go to Mr. O.’s mind, because I didn’t see what performance I paid for at Vilektra. It was then a phone call. Calling and it passed week after week, because Mr. O. understands very well in the content tactic. He O. justified himself at first again with the assertion that it was proved that the control unit was opened before and therefore not repaired. One would finally photograph every device at the entrance from all sides. On my objection that he told me before a different story (that of his Poland, which can not so well German, therefore error on the bill), he gave there n n n that I can’t prove that and it would only count what is available in black and white – a great businessman, right? Another time he made another remark: He would notice that these complaints always come from certain postcode regions. Then he wanted to have the repair invoice from Glaubitz, in order to check whether actually this ECU was repaired there. On my objection, he could not do anything with it, since on the invoice auc h is only that a control unit has been repaired, he stated that he only needs to call Glaubitz and get more data than on the bill, namely the serial number of the device. With the managing director of Glaubitz “breakfast” he. Well, one knows nothing of a joint breakfast at the Fa. Glaubitz. But Mr. O. is also known there – and probably not in such a good memory – who is surprised. By the way, I have made the invoice of Glaubitz available to him, There he did not call. One thing I have to keep Mr. O. but then still good. After a long, long time back and forth he had then agreed to refund 60 €, which he did also (after I had threatened with complaint). It was so better for me to go for 150 € a long-lasting lawsuit. That most of the people with such a relatively small amount shy away from it, probably also Mr. O. It was precisely for this reason that it was important to me that others my experiences with the Fa. Vi Lektra UG.
