  • Which summer tires for the convertible?

My new convertible needs new summer tires. Currently 185/60R14 Sava Perfecta are on it, but I don’t trust them so much, and I don’t know how the previous owner handled it. It’s like a convertible, which is only moved in nice weather. In this respect wear and wet grip are not quite as important as on an everyday car. And at 3000km a year (if at all) it doesn’t necessarily have to be premium tires. But upper midfield would be nice. I would like to switch to 175/65R14 for technical reasons. What can you recommend?

  • TÜV complains of different press-in depths from and behind

Hello, At the last HU the TÜV objected: “Räder Rims front and rear different, press-in depth and rim width do not match” Who knows the relevant regulations? Do the rims front and rear really have to be the same? For my VW Passat Kombi 3BG Bj.2005 I bought and mounted two finished wheels with light alloy rim (Rondell 35 6.5×15 LK5/112 ET40) and M+S tyres (Uniroyal MS plus 66 195/65 R15 91T) after a plate 2 1/2 years ago. The light alloy wheels have an ET=40, the original steel wheels ET=37. The new light alloy wheels have an ABE for my passat. At HU two years ago there was no complaint with the same wheels. The current examiner scolded about his colleague, who let this go two years ago. Mündlich Reason: That’s not how the tyres run in a single lane. I was only known so far, d the tyres have to be the same on the left and right, but may be different on the front and back. I have implicitly provided that this also applies to the rims. After reading various discussions about different ET front and rear here in the forum, I strongly suspect that in my case the examiner is wrong. From my point of view, the difference between the ET of 3 mm is technically irrelevant anyway. The tester probably did not realize this. I can’t understand this, different profiles should have more influence than different names of the manufacturers. If the rims or ET have to be the same, what measure would you suggest: 1. Get the same light alloy rims for the rear and let the tyres be reassembled by the steel rims. 2. Finished wheels with the same rims but different This would be the fastest time. Uniroyal MS plus 66 is no longer on the market, the successor is called MS plus 77, the same profile is no longer available. I did not find prefabricated wheels with Uniroyal 77, so they would have to be installed first. 3. Let the front tyres from the light-metal rims to the existing steel rims. This is the cheapest version, I like the worst. 4. The light-metal rims at the front Place the spacers 3 mm further outwards. Then there would also be an ET=37. 5. Another ingenious idea I am happy about every hint. Thank you for your patience and perhaps help.

  • 205 or 215 full-year tyres 2.0 TDi 140 hp

Hello, since I will upgrade to full-year tyres I am faced with the decision whether it will be 215/55 R16 or 205/55 R16. At present there are 215 tyres on it, but according to the vehicle registration I can also drive 205. The additional price for the wider tyres is at least 160€ per set. Are the narrower tyres in the 2.0 TDI (Passat 3C; Built:2005; 140 HP) overburdened, or do they have any other disadvantages?

  • Unbalance with new tyres and rims

Hello dear community, I sold my original Porsche rims in 20 inch (used) and bought new 22 inch Royal GT rims with 265/35/22 Hankook tires. When I picked up my car today, I noticed on the expressway that at 110-120km/h the steering wheel vibrates slightly to the right and left. The mechanic still told me that he brought the wheels to zero and needed little weights(10-30gr.)I called him,and told him my problem. As described above, I did not have any vibration problems before. Is the usual that new wheels have to sit down or drive in?Thank me in advance for the helpful answers.Beautiful greetings from the Allgäu 🙂

  • Completely new winter tyres or new tyres on old aluminium wheels?

Hello, I would need a decision help because I don’t know very well about tyres and rims. I got winter tyres to my Prius extra for 200€. I still didn’t have them missing the screws. After I got the sent the workshop said they can’t pull them up because the tires have strong saw tooth formation or caskash damage with bump formation. They didn’t want to put on it. I didn’t want to do this either. But since I paid 200€ for the winter tyres I wanted to get the money back. Then I would have to buy new ones, which they would probably do. The aluminiums are actually nice. Dark for the dirty winter. And new ones cost 500€. I have now written down all the numbers of the tyres I have. In the vehicle license it says: 215/45R17 87W 215/45R17 87W – Summer rims: I couldn’t find a designation on the rims. Can’t pick up the Prius. Sommerr eifen: 215/45R17 91W (So almost exactly what is in the vehicle’s license.) Winter rims: 6.5Jx16H2 Z6516 SD Winter tires: 195/55 R 16 87H M&S Now is the question… if there are R16 tyres on the winter rims, are they even allowed there only R17 mentioned? Besides… I can forget about the tyres. So must buy new ones. Can I make 215 on the winter rims or would that look funny because the rims are further inside? I have no idea if the rims are as thick as the rims are. By the way, I have a bill from the previous owner that says the summer tyres have fuel efficiency E. That’s 0.4l more consumption than if it were A. Or 0.3l on 100km if it was fuel efficiency B… I don’t think that’s worth looking at 5€… or are the fuel efficiency data not trustworthy? But first I need winter tyres. And the question is whether I should return the old rims and broken tires and 2 00€ or keep the rims and should put new 215 winter tires on it. It should ideally look like with the summer tires, only darker rims. But that is not possible with the R16 rims or? The rims have a smaller diameter than R16 and that should also mean wrong speedometer indicators or?

  • Tyre collection by GLS unfortunately goes wrong

Hello, I have a problem with GLS and wanted to ask if someone has already had the same experience and how the whole thing went out. Had on 27.1. via reifentransport24.com a pick-up order for 2 tires abandoned. The next day already came the messenger, but I could not get to the door in time at the time. No matter, he will leave notification tomorrow (so today) again. Since I have at the moment free also no problem. So I got up in time and waited, wa In fact, in the history, it says that there was a messenger here this morning and that he left another notification. It didn’t hurt anyone, nor could I find a notification like the first attempt. Thus, the order was automatically cancelled and I stay on the cancellation costs of R After several phone calls with the tire transport24 and GLS, I only had to describe the facts in an e-mail at the tire transport24, so that they take care of it, because according to GLS, only the shipper (->tire transport24) can do that. That’s why I asked if someone had something like this before and how the chances of success are. Thank you and many greetings

  • GJR: Continental AllSeasonContact or Bridgestone Weather Control A005?

I will buy new GJR this week or next week. My Michelin CrossClimate are now over 3 years old and have run about 50,000 kilometers. I have always kept myself after the ADAC tests. There is a new GJR ADAC test from this year. Unfortunately only in the 175s size. I need a 205/55 R16. Do you think (even if the ADAC says +-10) you can transfer the test more or less to the 205s size? Supposedly only the first four tyres are rated with satisfactory and so with recommended:https://www.adac.de/…/2018_all-year tyres_175_65_r14.aspx I’m excited about the Continental AllSeasonContact. Now I’ve just read here in the forum about the entire new Bridgestone Weather Control A005. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been tested due to its recent market launch. What do you think? Which tire would be better off on my Golf VI for the city and daily highway of 35km (one distance)? The first reports from Bridgestone read very well. P It would even be cheaper, but actually I would trust more of an ADAC test…

  • Winter tyres that are good on snow and do not harden

Until the WR season it’s still a few weeks, but I’m going to start with I’m looking for winter tires for a Dacia Lodgy, whose strength is particularly due to good snow characteristics. Dimension 185/65 R15 or alternatively 195/55 R16 (must buy new bikes anyway). Since we live in a middle mountain location, the performance on snow is especially important to me. However, the car is not driven much in winter, so the WR will become a few years old and should be their own aften on snow and wetness therefore keep as long as possible. GJR are not possible, because with the Lodgy in summer a lot is driven and I specialized in snow GJR wears out too quickly.

  • Holes in the aluminum too small for the key? Take smaller nuts?

Hello guys! I wanted to raise the summer tires today. I needed them on Alutec-Alus. I was just stupid because the original key from Mazda doesn’t fit in the holes. The nuts fit just like that into the holes, but for the key there is no room anymore. The key is a 21er (measured). The nuts have measured 10.5 mm inside diameter, that should be M12. And for M12 usually comes a 19er key, so they are probably not standard nuts. I understand that correctly, I need now 19s or 20s nut and a matching key or a nut with a maximum of 22 mm outer diameter, because the holes in the rims are so big, but I have a few questions. Do you have to pull the whole with a torque key, or is a normal (cross) key sufficient? Would be nice if someone would answer briefly. P.S. And still something on the edge: the winter tires have a stamp (039D) where D is a triangle/arrow. hme that it means week 3 year 99, and so the tires belong on the garbage, right?

  • Rim input

Hi. I’m looking for a few complete summer tyres for my VW Passat 35i, Bj 96. I’ve already found some, with the right tyre size. The tyres are registered ( 205/50 R 15). My question now: Do I have to register the new rims and if so – how does that work and what would it cost? Rims are not listed in the vehicle letter… There is only one part-certificate for the complete wheels. Is that enough to register the tyres? To the rims: Nam e by the manufacturer Rondell 7Jx15 H2 ET28 and the hole circle is 4×100.
