  • Lower acceleration values even with only minimally wider tyres?

Hello, dear community! As one or the other of you already knows, I recently switched from “Continental Contact Premium 2” to “Vredestein Sportrac 3”. In terms of dimensions, this resulted in a change from 185/55R16 to 195/55R16. My new flaps are therefore each one cm higher and wider. As a first positive effect, I could see that these tyres on the road, and here above all in curves, stick to the ground like anything else. However, it also seems to me as if they were my acceleration values lower since I put the new tires on it. At first I thought that I only imagined this, but then made myself more clever on the Internet. As far as I understood this, wider tires mean more circulation on the road. On the one hand, this means that the contact area to the road is wider with a resulting stronger grip on the ground, on the other hand, the resistance is greater due to the larger area. Corrects me if I am wrong Iege. As far as theory is concerned. However, can this effect be determined already with just one cm difference in width? The differences (more ground adhesion, lower acceleration values) to mine tires are minimal, yet noticeable. Would that be quite a bad thing if a centimeter in height and width already made such a big difference. The conversion took place as mentioned above from 185/55R16 to 195/55R16.

  • Conti

Hello need new summer tires for my Golf V. So far I’ve got the Conti Sportcontact 3 225 40R18 on it. I’ve read that there’s supposed to be the 5 now. Which one can you advise me to do? Thanks

  • Dog bite in the tire.

Hi, today my dog allegedly bit 2 car tires. I’m skeptical. I put on 2 pictures and I would be very happy if you let me know if such a thing really could come from a dog. According to the owner of the tires he still drove about 1.5km with the tires to be seen in the pictures. I think if a dog bites in he could in the worst case leave a small hole. Dog weighs 40kg, nothing excessive.

  • Renewed summer tire – King Meiler Streax

Dear Forengemeinde, this thread is about all relevant information about the retreaded tire King Meiler Streax. It became known to the general public as a copy of the test of the TÜV Süd burst. A family member of the tyre producing company, is registered here and writes quite often on various topics with KM reference. Last state of affairs, taken from the thread “Summer tire test 2020, discussion, that the tire is currently like which is in the approval phase. I hope that all of the discussants will have a lively and as objective discussion about the partially strongly polarizing topic. Here is a link with the TÜV examiners’ statements about the incident of the broken tire: https://www.autoservicepraxis.de/…/…-money-a little-security-2645476 Since this is not to stand alone in the sense of the balanced debate, I ask everyone who is interested in the topic to look at the above thread. last pages the MT member @mohimahi posted current test reports, as of September 2020, on the Streax together with an appointment of an expert. I wish all of us a lively and objective discussion.

  • Balances wrong and not glued in flush

Moin. I gave my tires for balancing. Just when screwing on I saw that a row of weights was glued in crooked. See pictures. Does that hold? The wheels have to turn up to 240 km/h.

  • Bordstone damage to the tire. New tire duty?

Good evening, something stupid happened to me today. I slipped off a curb with my right front tire and ripped out a piece of rubber. I don’t know, but I strongly assume it’s dangerous to continue with the tire. I have to drive a longer distance over 500km on Thursday. What do you think? Change definitely? Thank you for your answers Dear greetings PS: It’s a Bridgestone summer tire 205/55 R16 91W monti on a BMW 1 (F20)

  • Rims damaged – When changing / pulling?

Hello, I noticed yesterday the damage to my rims shown in the photos, after I had the screws pulled the day before with the friendly one. All 4 rims have similar damage at the same places around the screw holes. Somehow I can not imagine that this could have happened by pulling with a torque wrench. On the other hand, it is very noticeable that I find these damage everywhere Can anything else be cause or would you also guess on an uncautious fitter?

  • PLATIN tyres safe?

Hi, does one of you know something about “PLATIN” tyres?http://www.interpneu.de/platin.html Because they are on my lupo and according to the dealer it is supposedly a “billigmark” from Continental. Unfortunately, I have not been able to confirm this so far and am somewhat irritated by the tests of “Billigrafen”. I don’t have to change them from profile etc., but maybe yet? What do you think? Is the dealer right? Does anyone know a test report?

  • Recommendation on 175/70/14 Year-round tyres

Since I made the brake yesterday with a neighbour and I noticed that the tires are finished…here’s my question. I don’t have any experience with all-year tyres. The polo rides 175/70/14. Driving profile is from short to long distance, max 10.000km a year. In winter no rides in high mountains. But like a quick turn. The lady is cost-conscious. What is gladly bought or offered by the trade? I have good to Conti Allseason Contact, or Pirelli Cinturato Allseas The Conti is probably also priced in the upper segment. Is that worth it? Alternatives? Thanks already.

  • Year-round tyres on sporty cars (GTI, etc.)

Hello everybody, I’ve just been thinking about all-year tires on sporty cars, for example, on a Golf GTI. What’s your opinion about it? What do you think about driving all-year tires on a GTI, for example? Often you hear people say that doesn’t fit together, that you drive such tires on PS stronger cars. I think it really doesn’t matter what kind of car you drive.. depends more on how you want to drive it. Experience with all-year tires on sporty vehicles? Thank you
