  • What’s going on here?

Hello, yesterday I had my winter bikes screwed on again (Michelin Alpin 17″ on S-Line), which I had bought last winter and had driven a winter very little, are still almost like new. The wheels were also adjusted after the assembly at 2,3 bar. Then this morning: during the ride after 3km it was pointed out that a tire was flat. I then hit the spare wheel and continued the ride, but on the flat tire there was no damage/nail I’m seriously asking myself: how can that be? I’ve already driven a whole season with exactly these wheels, and after that they were stored at the dealer’s store. The core question is: if what were with the valve, then I would have already noticed that last season? Why only now after waking up from the ‘summer sleep’? The wheels were no longer washed before the storage, but that doesn’t matter? Or is this a well-known mesh of tire services? The tyres are probably now a case for the garbage, so they say yes (because of the risk of cracking the carcass?). Would you now exchange both or just the one? (back axle) The tyres are DOT at the end of 2013 and still have almost full profile (so 7.5 – 8.0).

  • At what profile depth you replace the tires

Hello, I would be interested in which profile depth you exchange your summer tyres or your winter tyres? I once heard that you should replace summer tyres at 3mm profile depth and winter tyres at 4mm. My front winter tyres currently have just over 4mm profile depth and I’m not sure if I should exchange them soon. And then another question: There are always cheap tyres on the internet. Let’s say I would like to change which tyres this winter. but let the tyres be pulled onto the rims only the next winter. Would that be advisable? And how do you store the tyres best? Just laid on top of each other in the basement/garage?

  • 18 or 19 inches All-weather / Year-round tyres

Hello dear friends, since I am happy about beautiful cars, but I am not an expert, I would like to share a question with you. I recently bought a Mercedes GLC. At the moment it has a summer tire 235 / 60 / R 18. Now I think instead of winter tires to pull all-weather tires on it. Have I looked at the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 SUV M+S all-weather tires. (Has anyone already experience with the tires that they can possibly share?) However, I also waved whether I had 19 inches ode According to the registration certificate, I could take 235/55/R19. But if I type this into the tire calculator (see file) the diameter is only minimally larger. Therefore, I wonder, of course, if I should invest the money in the 19 inch rims or prefer to put only 18 inch tires on the existing rims. What would you do? Thank you very much in advance for your decision support.

  • Conti Sport Contact 5 completely worn after 18,000 km!!!

Hello, it can be quite that the topic has been addressed more often. Nevertheless, I would be very grateful for a quick answer. I drive an Audi A3 Limousine 2.0 TDI with front drive and hand-operated. I am a commuter and drive 150 km a day. The vehicle has now run 18,000 km and the front tyres are worn almost to minimum profile depth. At the back are still about 5-6mm. Continental Sport Contact 5p are mounted. The tire size is 235/35 R19 Y. I I have a sports suspension with Magnetic Ride. Is it normal for the front tyres to leave so fast? I drive 90 % motorway with 110-130 km/h. Basically I’m just rolling. On average I consume 5.2 l diesel. What I noticed recently: If I take the gear out of the car on a slight gradient, the rolling resistance is so strong that the vehicle loses speed. Is that normal? Thank you!

  • All year round driving all weather or winter tires?

Moin people If you have a little driven second car, you don’t want to change the tires every six months. Now I wonder what’s better: Should you drive with all-weather tyres or winter tyres all year round? What I know is that the wear of winter tyres is higher in summer. What I also know is that winter tyres offer more safety than all-weather tyres in winter. And what I also know is that winter tyres often have worse characteristics in rain than summer riding. I don’t know how the all-weather tires behave here. Still on our situation: We currently have aluminium rims with worn out summer tires and steel rims with good winter tires. So it would be easier for us to pull the winter tires on the aluminiums now than to sell the winter tires and buy all-weather tires for the aluminiums. The question is: What would make sense in our situation now? I’m looking forward to your opinions. Greetings, E.T.chen

  • Wheel imbalance vs. disc impact

Hello, I’ve been having the problem since about a week that the steering wheel trembles more easily while driving and when braking, in an area of 120-140km/h. I recently got new tyres as well as the brakes (both about 8,000km on top), which is why theoretically an imbalance on the wheel or a disc hit of the brake disc could be considered. I also did a driving safety training with the vehicle a week ago including several full brakes. today I measured with a measuring clock, the left one has max. 0.01mm side stroke, the right one has max. 0.03mm side stroke, which is actually still in tolerance. When I made the brakes both 0.01mm. I did not have the wheels tested yet, I wanted to replace the tyres from the front to the back for the test, but then I will only come next weekend. What is your guess? My consideration would have to be a side impact on the windows. make every speed noticeable, or what are your experiences?

  • Search for TÜV Parts Assessments

Hello guys, does one of you drive this rim:https://www.ls-felgendesign.de/…/…-summer tires-265-30zr22_184.php on his Audi A8 D3-4E and may have the corresponding TÜV part report, which allows a registration of the rims/wheels with the tire dimension – 265/30 R22 97Y – on the A8 D3-4E according to §19.3? The rim is distributed by the company LS – rim design. The background is that I just used this rim in a very good condition to a reasonable cure. However, the seller did not have the report. Yes, I already called at the company rim design. However, I would like to pay the price they called for the report. Therefore my request to you. If you should have this report, then I would be happy to receive a feedback from you. Thank you! Greeting René
