Hello together, I wanted to ask out of curiosity for the round whether in 2021 any (massive) delivery problems with winter tyres / rims are known? I already ordered winter tyres + rims in the summer at the dealer for October and are comforted for about 6 weeks. So slowly a winter break is emerging with us and I feel increasingly uncomfortable, forced to continue driving with summer tyres. Am many drivers on top of that. That the prices have risen, one reads about everywhere (if in doubt I don’t care, I like to pay more, the security is worth it to me), but of such supply shortages especially to 2021 you can actually find nothing on the net. I would therefore be interested if only I could. Greetings to the round!

Motorhome: axle load, air pressure, driving comfort
Question in the round: the mass of the campers is built on vans from Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot and Benz. In our van, the maximum permissible weight of 3500 kg, the manufacturer gives an air pressure of 5 bar around. It is easy to drive, but quite uncomfortable. If you have something to do with the matter, you will find tables by the tyre manufacturer, in which air pressures for different axle loads are specified. In our case the maximum axle load with front 2100 kg and 2400 kg in the rear. I weighed the vehicle fully loaded, total weight 3500 kg, axle front 1660 kg, axle rear 1840 kg. From the table for the Conti GJR mounted with us, this results in an air pressure of 3.1 bar in front and 3.3 bar in the rear. Is it safe to lower the air pressure by 2 bar in order to increase the ride comfort? In percentage terms, this is a powerful deviation from the vehicle manufacturer’s specification, since one comes after all On the other hand, the tyre manufacturer should also know how to operate its tyres.

Wheel width – comfort vs. curve behaviour
Try to be brief and understandable: serial tyres are 185/60 R15, for comfort reasons I want to drive larger tyres (more rubber on the rim), that would be 195/60 R15, goes with ABE and the matching rims. Now I am undecided whether I should take 6 or 6.5″ wide rims, both go with ABE, does not take much price, the tires in both cases I would take the same (Vredestein Quatrac). My concerns are that the larger tire on the wider rim is quasi It will be more comfortable than the standard tyres – would it at least bring a noticeable better curve behaviour? Car is Meriva A, cornering position is felt rather bad, but that’s because of the design, whether there are other tyres at all to remedy it? Are the differences in the end only optical, with what additional consumption would I have to expect at the 6.5″?

Only on winter tires??
Hello guys, yes I again (The Clown) want to know how you feel about summer tires, because I have only been riding on winter tires for over 15 years now. The reasons for my decision were great. 1. I live in the mountains and we usually have 1x in the month snow 2. The average temperature here is also very low (better hooping) 3. Even in rain, winter tires are better in my opinion 4. Spare me the annoying change (if it all wants at the same time also n) 5. Need only one set of rims (have only steel rims) 6. Ride on average only about 4 ́000 km of motorway (here only allowed 120 km/h) 7. Other people drive your old winter tires also in summer 8. Always buy only brand tyres It becomes dangerous when tourists with their super heavy 4×4 SUW ́s have made it up the mountain with summer tires but then come down a cross on my track. And sometimes seriously .. who has scho snow chains for his SUW on super wide summer tires. Greetings .. your clown

Workshop puffing ?
At my passat in March, both crossbar arm bushings and stabilizer connections were changed on the rear axle. In addition, there was a complete new set of summer tyres. Yesterday, I stayed with two defective rear tyres. It dissolved with both rear tyres about 5-8cm of the inner tread except on the steel fabric. That can only be a fault of the factory and how I behave now. Thanks for every tip BG146

DOT 2015 or 2018 – which would you buy?
Hello everybody, I’m about to buy new summer tyres. Now my tyre dealer has offered me two tyres of the same model, but with different DOTs. One is from 2018, the other from 2015 with a 25% discount. Now my question: which would you choose? Thank you for your answers.

Have track and fall adjusted – surprise!
After I was allowed to find out that the left front tyre had expired considerably in the course of the change from summer to winter tyres (steel threads came to light and the tread was already partially detached), I decided to have the fall and the track adjusted. That’s how it happened. Feedback from the workshop, which also got to view the worn tire: There were considerable adjustments necessary. So far so good! Today, four days after the survey, I look for: e my wife with the car a workshop, because of noises from the front tire. The workshop found that the wheel was only so attached to the five wheel nuts. All wheel nuts were loose! After consultation in a large car dealership in Berlin, how fall and track is measured, I was told that the wheels were first dismantled to exclude mechanical damage (visibility test). Afterwards the tyres are mounted and measured. For setting is a demonstration With this knowledge I called the tyre company. Without reproach and without reproach, just stop the information. What can I say! The woman at the assumption knew immediately that the tyres were not dismantled and that I was to blame! A short conversation! Result: I control the tyres myself when I get the car out of the workshop! The customer is always to blame! The customer is always the fool!

Fulda SportControl or Hankook EVO12 in 235 40 18 ?
Hi, please help me further: Fulda Sport Control or HANKOOK EVO12 in 235 40 18 for a Mondeo MK4 combo? What to buy? Advantage HANKOOK: Label “C” for consumption, “B” for adhesion. The FULDA only “E” for consumption, same note for adhesion. Advantage FULDA: No V profile and therefore possibly less sawtooth prone to the combo back (?). Prices are currently approximately the same. Tests as far as I could see also do not give the huge difference. e

How long can I ride with a spare bike and how fast?
Hello, I just noticed that my car in the garage has a plate I will probably have to replace the tire tomorrow, so that I can continue on Monday, then drive to Euromaster, so that I can order a new tire there. Now I ask myself, however, how long and how fast can I drive with the spare tire at all? My spare tire would be practically my summer tire, which would be on aluminium – the remaining 3 tires would therefore be So are 3 winter tyres + 1 summer tyres allowed at short notice until my new tyre is there? And how fast can I drive on the highway? Bzw. should I rather avoid the highway or is it no problem? Thank you very much in advance. Greetings,

Winter tyres: Why buy additional rims???
Good day, I got a new BMW X5 (E70) in the summer. It has 255/50R19 front and 285/45R19 rear summer tyres on it. Now I want to buy winter tyres. Only the smallest rims in the size 18 costs 2,000,- €. Why do you usually change the complete wheel? I have to make winter tyres on it on the existing rims and then in the summer again the summer tyres on the rims. What does not speak? I see only advantages: 1. Do not need additional tyres. To buy rims, but only winter bikes. 2. I can ride the beautiful aluminium wheels even in winter. Changing the tires can not cost the world
