The ETRTO standards include long lists as well as calculation formulas. Before I describe these formulas for a long time, I created a file that allows a quick calculation. Since only certain file extensions are allowed in the forum, I have packed them into a ZIP archive. The HTML file in it can be opened with a web browser. Greeting Alpha Lyrae Important supplement: The calculation formulas used in the file correspond to those used in the ETRTO Engineering Design Information. This does not necessarily imply the admissibility of a combination of tyre cross-section and rim contour. Secure values for possible rim contours to a tyre q The ETRTO Standards Manual gives only the cut-off. There are some deviations from the formulas of the EDI.

Audi rims (BBS) on VW Golf?
Hello. I have already searched the Internet and find, who had thought, numerous different answers. The following: We have bought a VW Golf VII Variant 1.4 TSI BlueMoution, BJ 2014, 125 hp (0603/BPK). Of course only with summer tyres. Of an Audi A3 we have BBS rims with winter tyres (KBA46418). In addition, BBS also has an expert report on the issue of ABE. Under certain conditions, which I do not understand, these are also allowed for a golf. The BBS rims are 6Jx16 ET50 with 205/55R16 tyres and a wheel load of 600kg. In the vehicle letter it now says that 6Jx16 with ET48 are allowed. There is nothing in it about the load capacity. A colleague said that you can do something with distance plates and longer screws and do a single acceptance at the TÜV. Would still be cheaper than new rims and tyres. Since I don’t know about this and I didn’t really understand this with the press-in depth, I would like to know if this 2mm press-in depth makes any difference? Whether you really need distance plates and above all (I have found nothing about that) whether the wheel load of 600kg is sufficient. I need a single pickup one way or another. Only with what means does it work? By the way: The VW dealer and BBS themselves only confirmed to me that the rims are not allowed to do so. No one has told me what to do to allow them. Thank you already!

Rusting and painting steel rims – with weight?
Moin an alle 🙂 Recently I am proud owner of a Mondeo MK3. Now is also the colder season and I would like to raise the winter tires, which are mounted on steel rims. Unfortunately, the really don’t look so great anymore and I have planned to paint them. In addition, I have already looked at some things to paint the steel rims and read through. The steel rims have weights inside as well as outside and before I can do this also a few Questions on.. Should I take off the weights first, what (so I think) is more obvious? These are all clamped weights.. how do I get them off (just like the rim is now)? After that I can clamp them again or do you have to take new weights? I posted a few pictures once.. Greetings Andy

Macke in summer tire 205 / 55 R16 91V Michelin Pilot PRIMACY
Hello everyone, I got a set of summer tyres for my used Audi A3 when I bought it. You could drive the tyres one more summer, although they are already a bit down. Only a tire has a Macke (probably from parking) Can you have something like this put on or is it too dangerous? The Macke goes about 4mm in the tires. As I said: Summer tire 205 / 55 R16 91V Michelin Pilot PRIMACY Here are pictures: picture 1 picture 2 picture 3 picture 4 Thank you in advance for your Reply. Greetings Jockbert

Can I still drive these tires?
Hello dear MT community, have bought me a new car. the vehicle has only winter tires and these are already 6 years old. The problem is, the tires already have age cracks. The profile is still good. Now I wanted to know from you experts whether I can still drive with these tires or not. Wouldn’t want to endanger me and other drivers Thank you already for your opinion mfg nopuntonoparty

Summer tyres with M/S identification
Hello At a large tyre shipper I bought 4 tyres of the brand Fate AR300 175/70 R14 84T with M/S identification. The tyres were offered there as full-year tires. When I had the tires installed by a assembly partner of the shipper I was told that these tyres are only summer tires. I then listened around and found that other suppliers give the following hint on this tire. Quote: Since the company Fate also matures for the American market These tyres have an M/S identifier. This identifier has nothing to do with our all-year tyres. This tyre is a pure summer tyre. However, a large German Autombilclub could not give me any binding information, to the question what I now have for tyres on the car. How can one, as “Otto normal consumer” find out what tires are on the vehicle? Here are a few pictures

Problems with Michelin Pilot Primacy
Hello everyone, ride a Citroen C6 HDI 205 Biturbo FAP. The vehicle is now about 2years old, but has only run 30T km. It’s about the standard tire Michelin Pilot Primacy 245/45 R18 W100. From about 5Tkm of mileage all tires had an imbalance, this has worsened with each driven km. With the tires (in all 19T km of mileage) it drives like on “eggs”. Loud “wummering”, restless steering wheel, … The tires are all balanced, that’s not the reason. A friendly Citroen mechanic had then specified this and attested me an asymmetrical run of the tires. Saw tooth formation on all tires. Comment: Due to the asymmetrical design (inside profile different from outside) with different rubber compound there are uneven wear symptoms and wave formation in the profile. Result: tumbling tires, restless driving behaviour. And further: “This is a classic problem of these Michelin tires and both Citroen and M Ichelin known” The manufacturer turns out to be stupid. Everything has not helped so far. Answer: “…that’s because of your driving style!” was clear:-( So that’s definitely not because. My driving style hasn’t changed with this car. Ride also Passat with 225/45R17, which hold 45Tkm without imbalance … Question: Do you have similar problems with the tires? If so, which solutions were offered to you? Would be great to hear from fellow sufferers so that I can find a solution here.” omme. An “Eiertanz” with a 55T EUR car is not really pleasant and tires all 15TKm I do not want to afford! Greetings

Hole in the flank
Hi, since 17.12.08 I have a little scumbag that screws out the valve inserts 2 times and leaves the air out for me. Now on Friday three tires Platt, only HR not. Simply flat, valve is complete and also not loosened. So tires pumped up. The next day again the same tires Platt. Pumped again. Driven to the gas station and set the correct air pressure. Test drive made and after 15min. again air pressure tested. Was less than 1bar on it. There is a small hole (not to be seen) on the tyre flank. Since for a few months the Tüv has expired (had neither time nor money to take care of it) my car was standing on a parking deck in a private place. However, in the middle of the dark. Since everyone can make a move on it without being seen. So I parked it on the road yesterday evening, as there the The left (who has the hole) is the only one who still has air. I have lubricated some fat on the hole, but that won’t keep it close. To all this I have a ticket to the windshield this morning, of course. 25€ due to an oversized tuv. My father immediately said that this is not a coincidence. There is some dirt dust in the back. Probably waiting for me to put my car on the road. Long speech… my question is now there can somehow come a small hole in the tire without someone stabbing through it with a needle? Somehow? Do you even come through the tire with a needle or something like that?

How do you recognize a very sporty tyre?
I’m still trying to understand how it can be that the previous owner of my S-Max used more than two complete tire sets with actually wear-free tires in a good 50 tkm, while I, who myself is quite fast on the road, had a much lower consumption. Heavy curvature rubbing would be seen at the worn-out outer edges, but they are hardly affected. What do you see very hard acceleration and braking from? Sawtooth? nten? The tires are all very uniform and have really only minimal feelable saw tooth.
