  • How do I calculate the wheel diameter from the tyre formula ???

Hello, I have read that the rim or tyre size affects the wheel diameter and thus the ground clearance of the car. I do not know how to calculate this. So e.g.: 235/55 R18 means Q = 235 = tyre cross-section in mm V = 55 = ratio tyre height to tyre width in % Z = 18 = 18 inches diameter (equivalent to x 2.54 = 45.72 cm) From these values one must now be able to determine the diameter or the half-meter in order to compare how much higher or more lower a car stands on the road if it uses this or that tire size. That is certainly quite easy to determine if you know it. Does anyone know it ? Thanks rapper PS: I tried the following formula – true the ? diameter = (Q*V/100)*2) + (Z*2.54)*10) With this formula I would get with the above mentioned tires / rim size 235/55 R 18 to a diameter of 715,7 mm With a tyre / rim size of 205/60 R16 I would get to diameter = 652,4 mm

  • Wheels/tires/track plates

Hello, the Somme is soon at the door and today the new rims have been ordered It is about 8.5Jx20 ET 45. With the tires I thought about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 XL FP in 245/30 R20 in 90Y (600kg should be enough with the 2.0 TDI 143PS, right?). I am still unsure about the wheel widths. I thought about 15mm per wheel and wanted to use H&R, have not found a suitable set with bolts yet. Do you think I get the combo registered this way? Greetings A lex

  • Which summer tires to buy?

Hi guys, with my season car I will now upgrade to 18″ aluminium wheels and still need summer tires. I have seen/read the new test reports, but am still unsure. Around 225/40R18 should be mounted. Vehicle is a 3 Series BMW (E36) limousine. Ride in the season (04-09) max. 6tkm, only in nice weather, cruise more than I race. On the highway, however, more times are blown free. I calculated a lot and the Hankook S1 Evo2 would cost me about 420€, since against the better rated Barum Bavuris 2 ca. 348€. The absolute test winner Conti Sport Contact 5 ca. 490€. The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, Michelin Pilot 3, Bridgestone Potenza S001 lies between 440-480€. So price difference between the best is just between 70-140€. How was the Nexen N8000 tested? There would cost four tyres just about 280€. Which tire would you recommend to me with my vehicle, mileage in the year and driving style? Thanks and Greetings Patrick

  • Washed out outside?

Moin Moin dear forum! I just looked at my tyres in front and I noticed that I have such a wave-like line around the edge of the profile. Like the border between flank and tread. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac281/connectab/adb74543.jpg I don’t have that much on all four tyres just at the back. Tires are Pirelli PZero Nero in 245/30 20″ Thanks already.

  • Individual acceptance, registration or none of the two necessary? Rims + tires

Hello to each other, a few months ago I had bought my desired rims + tyres, which I would like to raise in the next week and if necessary already drive. I had always only OEM rims + the tire dimensions on it, which are in the vehicle license. To buy I had already made myself smart, whether I can drive the rims at all and which tyres up. So far I had set myself on a single acceptance but now I am somewhat irritated, if this really necessary vehicle: BMW E39 523i saloon from 12/98 – keys 0005 567 – no modifications / original condition / no special entries rims: MAM B1 8×19 front and 9.5×19 rear tires: 235/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rear From the manufacturer MAM there is a part report for this combination in which also the mentioned tire dimensions are listed. See here for the 8 and 9.5 separate ABE documents. See here for the 9.5×19 And for both rims there are also separate documen See here I would have said now that on the basis of the documents no individual acceptance is necessary. Since for the combinations parts reports are available, could only a registration be necessary or am I wrong?

  • Change of wheel: Can’t you get the wheels down?!

Hello, I have a curious problem: when changing tyres in summer -> Winter tyres I solved all the wheel nuts. But I still didn’t get the tire off! It was like baking it! Everything pulled and (one side) didn’t help. Did someone give me good advice on how to get on with it? Is there something like lubricant that I can use to work with the rim/axis? In general: how can a rim make itself so tight? Thank you! koasa

  • Resize future tire width with distance discs?

Good day, I would like to have a somewhat “remarkable” question. I have to add new rims and new tires next summer, because at the moment I drive on 225/45 R17 7×17 ET47. My new planned wheel-tire combination would be 245/35 ZR18 8×18 ET40, on which I would also let my speedometer calibrate, as it otherwise indicates too little (0.9 km/h, to be exact). The speedometer is known to be up to 10 % or 4 km/h too much but no km/h too little. With the help of a “Rei I could find out that the change in the outer edge of the wheel + 20 mm and the change in the inner edge of the wheel + 6 mm would be (see pictures). Consequently, the width of the entire wheel increases by + 26 mm. Now I could theoretically go and measure whether my intended wheel fits into my wheel box. However, since this is too inaccurate for me, my consideration was that I simply because the change in the outer edge of the wheel to my current wheel tyre combination was just I would be happy if someone had already had some experience with this and if this really corresponded with the new wheel in hindsight or if this really fit. Greetings Ravennwest PS: The + 6 mm at the inner edge of the wheel are no problem, because there is still enough space there. PPS: The future wheel is even 3 mm in diameter smaller (roll-off circumference – 0.9%).

  • 5 years old new tires! are still “new”

Hello municipality I have been offered 4 new Pirelli Zero Nero from 2006 (5 years old) at a fair price! Are the tires produced just as well as currently? Do you have any disadvantages with such tires? What do you think about it? Ciao

  • Aluminium rims preparation/repair

Hello, would like to try it yourself and bring my rims on high gloss and fix curb scratchers. I would like to ask the forum for experiences and tips on how to do the best and which mediums are good and which should not be purchased. I just want to grind the scratches and make them smooth where necessary with such a paste damage. I will pass the painting on to a paint shop. Felge looks like this:http://www.hood.de/img/full/2135/213553 186.jpg This is not mine but has similar damage on the edges. I’m only concerned with the edge. The rest still looks top. Greetings Chaososos

  • Tire flank damaged?

Good day, I drove by car about 2 weeks ago at parking unfavorably with a tire along a curb / on the curb. Affected is one of the rear tires. It squeaked. The curb was not particularly high, perhaps more 5cm than 10cm and also not “sharp” but rounded. Besides, I was of course on the road with very low “creep speed”. I took photos of the tire directly afterwards, in the annex there are three photos. The “discoloration” or the slips on the tire, as shown in the photos, are as far as I can see, so that was probably rather superficial in the road dust on the tires. It is still the winter tires. Now I would like to have the wheels changed in a workshop next week and will also ask if one could look at the affected tires. I would be grateful if we could check out the tyre. I would also like to know in advance: what can a workshop actually do in such a case to check if there is any damage? Since the winter tyres should actually remain for storage on the rim, one cannot actually examine the tyres from the inside. I am grateful for all the tips and hints! Stephan M.
