  • Motortalk has problems with Safari.

Hello Workshop, I wanted to write here a few times after this happened to me: The following problem: I usually write with Mac or iPad. They logically have Safari. Now it has occurred more that motor talk could not be loaded because there were too many “redirections”. This usually occurs interval artic with a duration of 1-2 days. For Safari MT is not usable during this time and you have to switch to a second browser. I have it now with several A pple devices tried out and with different W-Lan nets, but within an interval it is so with everyone. I get pretty annoying, it would be nice if that could be fixed. It happens about 1-2 times a month. Greeting seating.

  • BLOG of the month of the year

Hi, how would you like to introduce the blog of the month or year instead of or in addition?? I already suggest G-J’s blog for the month 12/2008 and/or for the year 2008 Nobody does so much work, researches like a mole that digs for earthworms, or writes with so much devotion and that not only on the A3 topic but also on topics that others could also be interested in… Gruss Gerd

  • New design – problem with high resolutions

Hello! Wanted to ask, who besides me still has problems with the display since the new design. Have a 22″ flatscreen – which is nowadays not really unusual at prices around the 200€ – with a resolution of 1680X1050. With the old design everything fits wonderfully. Now I have on the right a huge light gray bar, which does not disappear even with flexible size adjustment. Maybe you can do something here, if enough people, who also report the whole Greetings, Carlo.

  • MT-Blog as a “file” for FAQ articles?

Hello, I am with two colleagues FAQ author in the area of vehicle maintenance here at MT. Currently after restructuring the vehicle maintenance forum (new subforums still without FAQ author rights) or why always changes to “our” FAQ happen. The exact reason is not known to me, but also should not be the core of the discussion here. Because personally I was never a friend of the “MT-FAQ-software-solution”. One does not write at all IN the FAQ, but links existing forum- or blog-artik el in the FAQ and can edit it. If changes occur in the forum, for example, the article is moved or edited or even deleted by a moderator, this has a direct impact on the FAQ. Usually we do not get this at all, but at some point the question of a user comes up, what is going on with the FAQ, how currently happened. My idea was to create a separate MT blog (!), which serves as a storage location for the FAQ articles. So we authors find For example, a “FAQ worthy” article, copy it into this blog and link it to the FAQ. Or we write articles directly into the blog and use them in the FAQ. So the MT blog is not supposed to replace the FAQ but should serve as a storage location for the FAQ articles in the background. Blog authors = FAQ authors. Why have ??? Since the existence of an MT blog is currently linked to a user account, would be – if one of us did – this user ” This should not be the case. The user could turn his back on MT and the FAQ would be history. In addition, FAQ authors could be added, others (perhaps even the blog owner!) could go. That would not be clever. So after a long explanation now my question: could MT itself (i.e. a moderator or even administrator or whoever with sufficient rights) start such a blog, use the current FAQ authors as blog authors and we could use the blog use articles as a storage location for FAQ? And so regardless of the existence of individual existing FAQ authors, i.e. in MT-Hand? So it would be clearer, in my view better editable and we would be free from moving, deleting or other changes in the forum. This would not have any unwanted effects on the FAQ. Would this be possible? Just one question, please don’t start any activities yet! I just wanted to know it first before I started thinking about something, which maybe even is not possible or tolerated. Besides, we talk about this naturally in our FAQ-authors-round before and it does not grow on the crap of a single Thank you! Greetings, DiSchu

  • No place for reason on this side?

So at the moment there is a survey on motor talk, if one wanted to do without car rides and that has the following question values: Sorry, but this survey is simply an insult. I myself am a physicist and know a little about climate research and call this thing a political hype. There is no climate change that can be justified by CO2 emissions. In other words, the checkbox “I know that there is no climate change!” is missing. e for years unnecessary rides and try to act as environmentally friendly as possible. As said: No place for reason on this page. Warm greetings Wolfgang

  • Still “The Happy Posting Loose Bug” is not fixed!

What’s so annoying about it is the fact that the programmer was obviously a joker and has built in a sick and malicious function, which makes sure that the poster may have forgotten to copy the post before – then mercilessly hit it! MT is probably the only forum worldwide in which the right mouse button is more important than the left one! And where I am complaining: I’m certainly not the one in the world where the right mouse button is more important than the left one! The only thing that disturbs the fact that there is such a very limited selection of smilies here. That is a limitation like a word lock for many terms. Why the will of MT users does not count in this question, I will probably never understand.

  • New picture view – multiple images – forward and backward button

Hello and Moin Moin, since yesterday there seems to be the new view in the picture galleries. Not so dramatic. However, the function “Back to the post” is too small and hardly findable (nearly invisible) in the whole text block around it. However, the biggest drawback is the shift of the front and back buttons (blue square buttons with yellow arrows), which are now under the pictures and no longer over there, which forces you to scroll down again and again. Although you can see the picture in fact already. With several pictures this is quite annoying.

  • Only your page cannot be accessed in the standard Android browser !

… yes, everything is said, I haven’t been able to do it since the end of 2014, since I mostly surf at home on the tablet (there is no problem with that) I didn’t question it here. But what can it be?

  • Link links to other subforums

More than ever, vehicles from different manufacturers build up on the same platform or engines from one manufacturer are used in vehicles from the other manufacturer. That’s why I can’t offer a topic at the same time in several sub-forums. That would lead to much more insights and lively exchange which would make sense for motor talk as well as for users. I noticed this at the M278 engine from Mercedes where it was located in the E-Class Forum, as well as In the CLS and S-Class forum, there are more posts on chain rattles. This info should be displayed in all relevant subforums where the engine is used. At the same time, all the information in the subforums should be bundled in a thread. This will allow errors to be detected faster and a wider mass of people will also learn about these problems.
