Hello together, I am now now also proud convertible 900 owner. Top maintained and a feast for the eyes…. Now the car has to be registered. Since repair costs can certainly exceed the 0815 Schwackelisten values, the question arises about the meaningfulness of a Kasko insurance. First inquiries have resulted, that a partial report e.g. by the Dekra must be prepared, in order at all meaningfully possibly to complete a comprehensive. As already said, the car is in a condition, w o I would very much like to resort to a comprehensive protection, if it is affordable and the compensation in case of damage also runs without discussion. Would be happy about tips and experiences. Thank you and greeting Peter

900 Turbo 16S Purchase advice
Hello everyone, My first car, a faithful Golf II threatens to leave me now slowly after 6 years and I love to buy a Saab 900/1 Turbo 16S for more than half a year. Dream combination: 900 Turbo 16S (FPT), black body, beige leather, hand-operated gear, original Aero rims (or whatever these rims were called a three-bladed Trubine wheel at that time), Schrägschnauzer Why? I haven’t owned a Saab yet, but I’m with my father’s last two models (9000i and 9-3) grew up. Now to my questions and intentions: If I make the trouble to look for and maintain an (old) car like this, I would like to bring it up to H-approval, i.e. have as many years as possible to enjoy it. I am not a (hobby) screwdriver and therefore would have to let a vehicle wait away. Therefore my first question: Does someone know good workshops with experience at entsprec Hend alten Saabs im Raum Marburg-Gießen (Mittelhessen), besides the Saab-Zentrum Gießen and the company Eidam in Niederwalgen (near Marburg)? Who has had experience with the Saab-Zentrum Gießen? Do they have experience with old 900ers there? Have you been reading both in this forum for quite some time now, as well as at saab-cars.de and forum-auto.de and have already had a whole series of purchase advices. The typical pitfalls such as rust (drive shaft tunnels, wheel runs, underside doors, bonnet, trunk mboden, etc.)hanging sky, drained ignition lock, etc. are already known to me (in theory). As the car should last as long as possible, I step up the topic of bodywork and rust as the most important thing. My next question: Are there special tips for car body care, rust prevention etc.? Have already heard of cavity seals, is such a useful thing? What can a cavity seal do and what can it not do (is not a panacea…or)? I have also read about the possibility to upgrade LPTs to FPTs. The latter of course makes it easier to find a suitable car, because the 16S Turbos have obviously become quite rare at autoscout24.de or mobile.de. (According convertibles still seem to exist like sand at the sea.) Can you refer these conversion sets to FPT somewhere in the trade, or you have to work the individual parts somewhere (e.g. Ebay) individually What would be the rough financial framework for such a conversion? Who knows what about it? Now my most important question: Even if one internalizes the tips of the surrounding purchase advice (e.g. on forum-auto.de) as layman, to what extent is it not advisable to purchase a vehicle from private, since the risikio could possibly be too large to buy a sick barrel without a floor? Are there any experiences with you? Should one go to an established dealer, such as Fa He are the vehicle prices at Heuschmid actually justified in this regard? So, now still some detail questions: From which year of construction did the 900 airbag have and can one retrofit such a thing in doubt with reasonable effort? For example, did I hear that the vehicles allegedly even differ in the front window mounting, depending on whether or not there is airbag? Is there a possibility of blistering on the handgun deck Is it possible to retrofit wood optics on the amarture board and handcuff in doubt with reasonable effort, then the bubble problem would surely also be off the table? Under “air conditioning” I have to imagine a typical manual ventilation with heating in these years of construction rather than an automatic air conditioning system that can also cool in summer, right? Thanks in advance Nibohr

Saab 96 , Unlock
Unfortunately, I didn’t find the right Rubrick for Saab 96…. out of it I have the reverse gear in, and at the same time put the ignition key on L, now nothing goes out, neither the gear out, nor the ignition key can be moved. As far as I know this is a kind of immobilizer, and there was some trick to unlock, but unfortunately I don’t know what it was like, because it was forever ago when I had the problem. Second problem: the drive shaft is built away from the gearbox on the driver’s side, (maybe something was crashing away?) how do I best do that, I suppose: Build the wheel and wheel bearings away, is that just plugged in? or do you need special tools? And another question: is the freewheel with the inserted or pulled out lever as freewheel?

Engine suspension
Hello to each other, with my 900er softturbo bj 92 a mechanical cracking when starting, partly also with bad road condition during the drive (I imagine that it gets better with warm motor). had him once in the workshop, which then told me that it could be the motor suspension and they had tried to turn it off – which was also short time (no idea what they did). but now it’s full again. what do you think? p.s. he probably once had a violent fro Not damaged..

“Bremsenquitchen”
“Bremsenquitchen”: Is this a warning that the brakes should be revised again? In my 900s this unpleasant sound often occurs, and the braking performance is not – anymore? – so convincing.

Barn found Saab 900 Turbo 16 Aero built in 1984
I have the possibility to buy this 900 Turbo 16 Aero from 1984 for 500 Euro. It is a barn find, the car is now 12 years away in a dry barn. At first glance the car is certainly still to “save”, the body seems to have been relatively little attacked by the rust. But what about the engine? The owner drove it until 1997 and put it in this barn for illness and “forget” n”. Look at the pictures and tell me your thoughts. Maybe someone has experience in the restoration and revival with such barn finds? On what should one pay special attention and what should it be considered when reviving the engine after so many years? Thank you for your feedback.

EURO2 stainless steel catalyst for Saab 900TU16 & 900S(LPT)
One or the other may not yet know this conversion possibility: The EURO 1 to EURO 2 ACTION for all Saab 900 TURBO 16 to 1993 (Cabrio 94) of 104-136 KW was initiated as an interest group for all Saab 900 turbo owners and developed together with www.matrix-katalysator.de. It aims to keep the classic Saab 900, usable for everyday operation in the long term and economically. gt EUR 155,40 EURO 1 EUR 302,60 EURO 2 EUR 147,20 (Attention: the entry “E2” in the car letter of the years of construction from 1990 corresponds only to EURO1 NOT EURO2!) We have analyzed several possibilities in advance of our action to modernize the exhaust cleaning system meaningfully and consider the decision for a new EDELSTAHL-KATALYSATORS as a replacement of the less effective seriesKats for the most practical and also the most economical. The advantages of the conversion kit tested on the exhaust roller test bench to EURO 2 – maintenance of the standard control system without additional elements and without additional cabling – maintenance of all original adjustment data – replacement of the old cat (exchange part price at Saab approx. EUR 550!) – installation by the owner in approx. 30 min itself – additional heat protection by additional insulation of the metal cat – no additional installation effort – no additional maintenance with 2 years warranty and last but not least better response of the loader due to considerably lower exhaust back pressure of the metal cat with advantages – with consumption (approx. – 5% lower) – and with the performance (approx. + 5% ) All this the conversion kit at the complete price of EUR 420,00. Included are: – the new stainless steel catalyst, – all mounting parts made of stainless steel – complete sealing set – installation instructions – ABE certificate for all variants of the SAAB 900 TU 16 un d 900S (LPT) of 104-136 KW – 2 years warranty by our development and distribution partner matrix. – the transport to the participant in this action. For further information a pnan me.

Help my Saab spins !!!!
Hello dear Saab friends… I bought a Saab 900, 2,0l, year 91 a few days ago. On the way home I noticed first flaws. The “Check engine” lamp lighted up partly flickering and partly constantly. Every now and then no more power came as if it “swallowed” itself. First aid measure of me: clutch kicked, full throttle and then went again. But now he worries me after all. Sometimes he jumps on hard and if he concerns me I have to reach over 300 0 u/min try to stop him so he doesn’t die from me. When he’s on it goes on then too. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ff very much and would like to drive him without the Driss. Thank you in advance for your efforts. Greetings Gizi

Saab 900i 16V Built 90 Ordinary transmission oil loss
Hello people, does someone have experience with gasket change on the Saab 900 gearbox or with oil loss? Mine definitely loses too much gear oil or is it actually motor oil. Does it bring something that motor oil replaces gear oil, since the viscosity of gear oil is worse, so thicker than with 10 or 15-W40 moetor oil – do I think? can you do something yourself or a friend’s workshop or do you need special tools that only have a SAAB workshop? I can’t tell you exactly where it comes from but also say that I only have the Saab for 3 weeks.

Warehouse damage?
Hello, yesterday I stayed on the way to work with my 91er 900er convertible. I uncoupled at the highway exit and a little later the engine went off and did not let itself start again. Start attempts ended either with noises similar to those of an almost empty battery or with a simple “crack”. A “yellow angel” has diagnosed that the engine blocked (even at the time of the engine still turned at start attempts). My Saab dealer typed after e In order to confirm this diagnosis, he would of course have to expand the engine. Should the diagnosis be confirmed, according to his statement, a new engine would be due. Do you have any experience? Tips? Ideas? Thank you very much and many greetings o.li.
