Hello everyone, I’m thinking about getting a Saab 900 as a convertible or a coupe – and everyday vehicle. I would have 5000 eur at my disposal and now I wonder if it is worth looking for a convertible at all. The more affordable alternative would be a turbo coupe, as far as I really appreciate it. What do you think about it? Furthermore, I would like to know how much one should plan for maintenance according to experience if one finds a car without repair jam. No one can tell you whether the turbo will fly around the ears next week or not – but you will be able to make a certain assessment. I read different things about spare parts prices here in the forum. I would like the car to be much more modern, new, but it would also have to be financed by me. I hope you can help me a little bit. I also looked around shconmal at Mobile and a few vehicles on the parking space. e.g.: cabriohttp://suche.mobile.de/…/details.html?id=57159269&%3Borigin=PARKhttp://suche.mobile.de/…/details.html?… (is that an automatic selector lever on the 3rd photo? )http://suche.mobile.de/…/details.html?id=57348969&%3Borigin=PARK coupehttp://suche.mobile.de/…/details.html?id=63886759&%3Borigin=PARK thanks Moritz

Saab 900GL Bj 84
Hello. I’m new here in the forum. I’ve been looking for a long time but unfortunately I didn’t find anything on my topic. I might have a view of a Saab 900 GL with Bj 84. Since my father has already driven Saab I would like that in principle. Now I wanted to know if you can help me with technical data about the vehicle. Motorization? Consumption? Vulnerabilities? Here was the information. The vehicle was in 1st possession until 1999 and was maintained until then every year. into the hands of a Swedish car fan, who cared but very little about it. Since 1999 not much more than 1000 km a year. What do you think of the offer. Thank you already in advance for your help. Martin

900 I: 5th gear behaves strangely
Hello everyone, now for a few months also a 901 CC(MY1988), am so far very satisfied with it. So far I had the phenomenon from time to time that the reverse movement did not want to be put into place properly. With the advice of a forum member, in such cases before to turn into the first or third gear helped only conditionally. Sometimes I had to go into the idle, give a short gas, so that the gears changed and then This phenomenon occurred only about every 10th to 20th time at the parking, so far I accepted it as a small Macke. Now, however, in the last weeks I had three times the following event: During the ride suddenly the 5th gear did not insert itself correctly. If you push the shift stick from the 4th gear forward to the right, you automatically land far to the right, as if you wanted to insert the reverse gear. Besides that you can of course scare well behind a driving vehicle 😉 nothing actually happens. At the last time I found it by gently “stirring around” in the vicinity of the 5th gear. So it can still be inserted if you find the right position with the shift lever very carefully. But the “guide” to the right is then no longer available. The phenomenon then disappears again at the next turning off of the engine. Since the G If there are no other problems, I suspect the cause rather in the ignition lock area at the reverse lock. Does someone have experience and can say more about it? Thank you and many greetings, Nibohr

“Check Engine”
Hello, it’s me again… …. at my 900 convertible, EZ 03/90, 126 HP, lights up the check engine light shortly after the start, for about 2-3 minutes, then extinguishes again and the car drives normally. During the luminous display it does not seem to get optimal fuel (pump, plugs are replaced). Does anyone know advice???? Thanks already now, smokeyjosephine

“1000 questions about the 900 Turbo”
Hello, I’ve recently been a proud owner of a Saab 900 Turbo Bj 85. But since I know more about Audi, I have to ask myself a little cleverly… Is it normal that the turbo at Vollast will noticeably lower the pressure, and according to the display only goes up to 3/4 to the red area, or is it perhaps wrongly set? The air conditioning system works, just like the heater, not. I would like to expand both, but I’m not sure if it works with the air conditioning system m Is it possible? Come out of the room HH, and would like to have the turbo set at a “Saab-Fachman”! At the cold start it also doesn’t run right or always goes out (stand gas)… Can one of you give me a tip? Mfg Niko

Saab 900 Bj 88
Hello Saabgemeinde, I have now seen two well-preserved 900 he and would like to get one of these. It is a 88“Coupe, it is supposed to be a Jubilee. model, unfortunately I could not reach the owner yet but on the photos is leather bust. to recognize. Who knows about this model by chance???? Climate etc.??? The 2nd would be a 93` model (unfortunately 5-tuerig) very well received, both with full service book!! turbomodels 145 hp??? Both vehicles are from Saab employees and still in first possession. So actually a dream, right? I would be grateful for a few tips on what is to be taken care of. The mileage is at 165.000 and 189. ooo km. mfg sa-ko

Ignition oscillating? (?)
I switched on the highway yesterday (please don’t comment on this I hate myself anyway) and came instead in the 5th in the 3rd I of course immediately crossed the clutch again but… well, he was still in there for a short time and I lost almost 20kmh of speed. Now to the actual problem: Immediately after my mistake the car started to jerk and stutter, a friend in the car said that this was probably ignition failure. n nothing at all, it runs quietly and doesn’t sound abnormal (except for grinding if the clutch pedal is not kicked) Now I give it a bit of gas it swallows up as soon as the speed falls again, so it bubbling louder than usual, at least I imagine that. But when I was driving I have since this jerking, and today it has also stopped twice and was difficult to convince to jump again. Symptoms were thus as follows: Ignition drop-outs from about 4000 tours, dana he no longer accepted gas, the charging pressure indicator moves in GLD position but that is also the only thing that is doing. After that he only jumps extremely unwillingly. As soon as he is then he drives again but the ignition dropouts remain. What can it be? Please help me if you can, I despair slowly. P.S. Spark plugs and ignition cables exchange said a friend, but whom the candles would not ignite would he shake in the idling or? Oh yes, if I risk n am and I stop the engine normally (after 20 seconds or more, depending on the load), it starts immediately again. How does a fuelcut feel? Can there be something “shot” connected because of that? The car is EZ 90 and has a Lucas injection.

Why 900?
To revive the classic section of the SAAB forum a thread from me again. How do you see this: What makes a SAAB 900 so unique? Do you also have the impression of driving a very strong car? Would a new SAAB (as a used or new car) be in question for you? Or which other car would be a veritable successor for the 900er? What connects you to your 900er? So many questions, which look forward to many answers! In my case, in particular, the design and the engine sound make the difference to all other cars. I have always experienced the 900er as a reliable vehicle with certain peculiarities… As a successor or better supplement, the following models are considered for me: Volvo V70, SAAB 9-5, Alfa Romeo 156. Greetings with the hope of many contributions, beautiful stories and the like. Have fun.
