Oil sludge and guarantee extension
Dear community, dear hangover, I have just received the AUTO-Bild-Newsletter by talking about a warranty extension for various Saab engines of the years 1998-2003, because they mud faster in cold temperatures. Since Saab allegedly spares a recall action, the engine guarantee is to be extended to 8(!!!) years. Do we have to worry?I have already reduced the intervals of the engine oil change to 10,000 km! Thanks for information and tips on what to do to secure demands! S Aabian greetings mrbean95

Gas 95 or 98 octan?
Hello together! As a newcomer I greet you first! And then I already have a question: I drive a 9-5 AERO MY 09/99 km 125,000 – so far from the beginning completely without problems. At the last oil change at 120,000 (jawoll= all 10,000 thanks to the convincing “cat” words! ) the master asked which fuel I would refuel.Answer: Super plus, as prescribed. He: Refuel Super, that’s enough. You don’t notice the difference in performance, and the machine does not hurt. I am a w sceptical, but perhaps someone has already had experiences in this regard? I think that it does not hurt thanks to the modern electronics of the machine; but what about the performance and/or possible additional consumption?

9-5 Aero – Control before purchase ?!
Hello dear Saab municipality, after 4 diesel years (2years 9-3 2.2TiD, 2years 9-5 3.0 TiD) I now have the opportunity to get involved with an Aero sports combi. A test drive (with another Aero) has already been completed, the impressive driving performances generate a very big “have-will” – moment The Aero is 2 months old, has 17000km (!) on the speedometer – was moved by a regional manager Saab Germany. (The man must have lived in the car…) h as Auto-Technik-Laien a way to determine whether the predecessor “reasonably” drove or whether it is rather heated? I can’t recognize it on the tires – the used winter tires are already dismantled Many greetings from near Nuremberg Maik

shark fin antenna: only GSM or GPS?
hello forum! have decided after a long time now for a portable navi http://www.garmin.de/index.php?content=Product descriptions/Quest.php by the metallised disks I also have to buy the antenna with it, e.g. the one: http://garmin.de/Show-Zubehör.php?znr[1]=500043 but would prefer to use an original of saab. how can you tell if the installed shark fin on the 9-5 combi is only suitable for GSM, or also as a naval antenna? my 9-5 (20) 019 didn’t have a navi as standard, but could the antenna possibly still be navi-suitable? what can an original saab GSm-GPS antenna cost and what are there for GPS plugs down there? who knows what. please thank you for info

9-5 2,3T Aero /used – Buy or not?! (e.g. engine..)
Had actually needed to buy the 9-5 2.3 Turbo Aero before me. It has 87′ km on it. Never heard great about engine damage until here in the forum. But now the threads have made me VERY unsure, since with Saab often a motor damage occurs?! Is this actually like this or only on certain models? DO YOU REPLY THE DANK!!

Retrofit dashboard
Hello dear Saab community, For a few months now I have the feeling that something is missing in the interior, my Saab 95, BJ.2000. I would like to upgrade the dashboard with a real wooden panel. Is this still possible afterwards? Are different wood decors possible? Does anyone know a reference address? For helpful information I would like to thank you in advance.

hands-free device 9-5 with LCD-Navi
Hello Together, I have just looked for information about hands-free system, mobile phone, Nokia and found nothing in the 9-5 forum. I think to have a holder for Nokia 6630 and hands-free connection installed in my telephone “prepared” 9-5 with Touch-Navi. My dealer told me there are two variants: Bluetooth without antenna connection: 450€ incl. installation Bluetooth with antenna connection or mechanically: 750€ incl. installation I was not surprised about the prices, for that the box is already “ready to phone” I find this relatively expensive…. Do you have experience values and comparison prices? I would have thought that only one holder with device-specific plug as well as the connection and sound, Mirco and antenna are necessary…??? Greetings to everyone, ubi!

Control chain clapping!!
One more good evening/morning, I had to have a little bit of service on my 9-5 aero. The oil, oil filter and the front brake blocks were changed. What else has to be done is change the drive belt and the rear shock absorber (are leaking). The mechanic has emptied a “cleaner” in the engine before the oil change. This means that the dirt (e.g. from the coke) should be tied to it. In oil change this dirt is then removed from the engine. According to the mechanic the engine was not muddy, or there were only few traces to recognize. So as far as the engine mud is concerned, I can sleep with a calm conscience now. However, there is probably still a problem that makes me now, although it is covered by my quality 1 guarantee. The engine makes quite funny noises, which one hears especially in the empty chain. According to the mechanic, the mechanic will still be able to get in contact with the control chain for the compensation shafts or the control chain. He means that the chain has cost itself.

Buy current model or facelift
Hello, for a long time I have been reading with you in the forum and I find this somewhat higher “level” here more enjoyable than in the BMW Forum. About 5 years ago my purchase decision fell in favour of BMW, really let go of me still not after a test drive at that time. Now I think again which car I should buy. After the future of Saab is saved, I would tend to return to the 9-5 Aero. Here my questions: Can one assume that the oil problem (slurrying by excessive heating, etc.) with the now delivered models is constructively fixed? Or would it be better to wait for the facelift model, since here it would be assumed that the engine problem has been solved (independently from the other disadvantages such as lower serial equipment)? Still a personal comment to the discussion “Hubraum (6-Zylinder) contra turbocharging”, which I can not deny: I could not recognize at that time a big difference to the running culture of the two engines. For the average car driver, however, it would not be possible to give up the more of a six-cylinder practice.
