  • Ford Escort 1.6 Flair – Where is the switch for the return light ???

Hello, my girlfriend has been driving the following Ford Escort for a few weeks. Ford Escort 1.6 ” Flair ” – Fliessheck, 5-door EZ: 13.09.1995 KM: 62.645 Power: 66 KW / 90 PS HSN: 0928 TSN: 824 Engine: 1.6 Zetec Gearbox: 5-speed Gearbox Engine code ( According to type plate ): L1 Gearcode ( According to type plate ): W Error Description: Since the beginning of the week the rear-wheeling lights don’t shine any more when inserting the reverse gear, which is why I assume that the rear-wheel switch is defective on the gearbox Questions: 1. In contrast to Golf IV, however, I cannot find the reversing switch on the Escort gearbox, why I ask you here where this is ???? Is there any links to the corresponding photos ??? 2. Is there any further technical data at the Escort on the engine and transmission, than on the type plate under the bonnet ??? If yes, where are these data in about ??? for your energetic and hopefully fast I would like to thank all of you for having a nice weekend.

  • Dangerous defects?

Hello, I bought me a Ford Escort (94) about 6 months ago. TÜV was also made directly. I did not take the hints or defects listed there seriously at first. because if you get the badge it will probably not be so wild. Only now comes my skepticism… 2 faults should be apparently net so harmless, therefore my question to you: Can the following defects become dangerous to me? 1. outdated brake fluid 2. Left and right slight porousness of the brake hose In addition, I would also have liked to know if you can wear matures on an axis 2 (same size!) And if I’m already there, would be nice if you could tell me if you get TÜV with a defective rear windscreen wiper at all (not listed in the report, but lack existed!) Thank you for your help!!!

  • Fucking clattering on the front axle

Hey my Essi tournament BJ99 1.8TD had received new crossbars on the front axle a year ago.. And recently new pendulum supports and some rubber buffers.. for the stabilizers… The reason for this(?!) was that the axle was like a sour flapper with small bumps (cracks on the road, impact holes and especially cobblestones).. this sound I can not reproduce myself.. because it was so violent!…so if you skin 2 pieces of 4 edge tube very quickly together .. Well, anyway, the car was back on stage yesterday (but not because of the front axle) and when I drove off that was exactly the same rattle again (were probably going to happen when he didn’t stand on stage) But now my question is why is 1000km after renewing the parts of this rattle back? because it was all completely gone.. knows jmd why, or if it has other causes. The shock absorbers are always ok!

  • Knocking, clacking when braking or rolling out, but not always

Hi, I did it again. A few days ago Ford Escort (tournament, 1.4L/75hp, petrol engine, Bj.98 (ABS) – about 90,000 ran) bought and zero idea of car technology. Logically, I did test drive. Except for noise from defective wheel bearing on the rear right everything easy. Seller (screw) changed wheel bearing before handover. Cross handlebars should also have been renewed (because of TÜV July 2007). Battery was flat, got now the one of my old Opel inside. It took a bit of time, because I didn’t get rid of the screws from the mount. After that, he started looking around (seemingly seems to be normal), but now he’s running OK again, except that he doesn’t always start the first attempt at the start. And now to the real problem: when I walk off the gas (light or something) suddenly a strange knocking or clacking is to be heard. When I brake it gets louder. Strangely enough, it’s not always like that. Today I am about 20km away. on the way back (bad roadway, but same distance as on the way) it suddenly started again after a slightly stronger unevenness. The sound seems to come from the front. I can exclude lots of flying parts in the car. Do not need repair instructions, because I can not do much for myself anyway because of lack of suitable space, tools and idea. But a few good tips, which could be the reason for this would be really great. h in a workshop don’t like to let it go over the ledges. They may start a whole new thing for me. So always with the good advice and already thank you in advance.

  • Electrical problem/defence Escort BJ 1996

Hello, since I have been helped here several times, I try it again. I have converted a 1992 Escort engine 66kw 1.6l into a 1996 escort. Now I have for some time that problem that he no longer jumps. Bzw. he just went off to me 2 times while driving and not again. The first time he jumped again after 10 minutes. The second time he did not jump again. or only after he was dropped from the towing service the engineh Aube opened the battery bridged and it ran again. (Although the one from the car service had checked the battery and she was ok) Maybe it wasn’t the battery but was just coincidence. And the 3rd time it doesn’t go on for a week. Strange is… 1. The radio goes. 2. The light goes (light) 3. The warning flashing system goes 4. The indicators do NOT go 5. The lighting of the dashboard does NOT work if you turn the key on “ignition”. 6. The fuses I have 7. I also changed the control unit. Is also ok. 8. The part where lights on the steering wheel with cable to the fuse box I also tried another one. 9. The type of road service has measured whether there is electricity arriving and it seemed that on the steering wheel / ignition no electricity arrived or so…. Has jemadn any idea how to proceed here without bringing the to ne Ford workshop… Have someone who knows about cars, but also he doesn’t know any more advice. VIE LEN DANK for your help Greeting Alex

  • Oil in air filter box & reduced engine power

servus! I have the problem that oil is present in the air filter box at the Escort (bj’95, 1,6l, 90ps, 16v) with 173tkm of running power. the engine consumes relatively much oil since anyway and abruptly, but loses nothing at all. in recent times, the problem has still come to me that the engine, which is powerful enough for the air filter box, has no more power. I have to push through the accelerator to reach the 80km/h in the 3rd cycle. with the fourth one, just 130km/h is possible. I have to ask: 1. does one have something to do with the other (oil has always needed a lot, but the performance was always top until just recently)? 2. can one repair the thing with the oil and if yes, what would it cost (depending on whether again tuv is made or not)? 3. if a rep. is not worth it anymore, is it possible to get the old performance again, possibly replace spark plugs or so (it doesn’t make any fun anymore to drive around with it)? thank you for the antw locate in advance!

  • Hohr Fuel consumption

Good morning I drive a Ford Escort MK7 Bj. 95 and I found terrifyingly that my car sucks like stupid. I have filled up at the beginning of the month full (seemingly have a 55 Lieter tank) but now after just 300 km the tank is already half empty. My tank watch does anyway what it wants, but if I charge that so high then I can refuel at 500 km. That would be 11 Lieter at 100 km. Is that normal for the car I actually always drive with rotary zals not h öher than 2300 rpm At 40 KM/h in 5 gear and 1300 rpm. I’m not the fastest but I get ahead well and save even sprite. What consumption do you have? Is that so normal? Black disk

  • Ford Escort 1.8 TD Questions about Questions

Hello, I have had a Ford Escort 1.8 TD for a short time and am so far super satisfied with the vehicle. However, I still have a few questions and hope to find some answers here. 1. I needed it and stupidly there was no manual with it….. Therefore I am not sure which oil is best suited for the engine and via internet search I did not find any useful information. 2. The sound quality of the boxes is very poor and listens back As a student, however, I also have to take care of my money, so I want to ask if you have some tips on how I can build a usable sound system for not too much money (let it be?). Shouldn’t be anything too spectacular and for a bassbox or the like there is no room, since I often have to do errands and similar things and that then would take away too much storage space. 3. In the meantime (hasn’t he done at the time of purchase) the car squeaks again and again My closest guess would have been V-belts now, but as a layman I want to ask again what might be most likely to be? He squeaks again and again, especially when starting and driving curves. 4. My passing light is not exactly bright looks almost like standlight…… Is there any way to install other light bulbs or the like so that I have more light to drive? Look forward to any help I get here MfG Joshi
