  • Clacking Gearbox 2.+3. Gang

Hello you 🙂 My Volvo s40 BJ04 gives a subtle “crack” of itself when I switch to the 2nd and 3rd gears. In the 4th and 5th I don’t hear anything. I just noticed it again, the clapping occurs only briefly, and it was when I let the clutch come after switching. So 2. let the clutch come in clack, 3. let the clutch come in clack. But only in the 2nd and 3. Is this already a serious damage? I also have the feeling that it jerks in the lower gears, mainly in the 2nd and 3rd gears after I have inserted it… held it all up until recently for normal but so slow :/ Drive down 2.4i 137tkm. Thanks already for help

  • Carlifter C70 II and possible problems

Hello dear Volvo driver, I don’t know how your rides with workshops on the topic of “lifting the vehicle” are during the inspection, wheel change ect.. I have in the past had problems with vehicles without special shots like Mercedes or BMW installed or in the honor of offended mechanic……which they always know how to get the “car” up. Just not…! On all vehicles that are raised at the standing edge Palatinate, there will be damage at some point, as the PVC-distortion alone is damaged by the pressure. At our company car, Ford-Mondeo 2012, this edge has even been bent, because too unstable. At my service car of a C-Class are like with all DB and BMW ́s, plastic shots (blocks) present, which are almost foolproof. But also the C70 II does not have this possibility, since it will certainly connect the ground group with the Ford -Focus. Since at some point, even if our C70 is still new, the workshop visits come, it is already ghast to me. I see at present only the alternative possibility to lift the C70, but be attached to the rear.

  • Despite full additive tank comes warning to fill up

Hello Volvo driver, yesterday came message “motor system requires maintenance”. Was today at the friendly and he has read out the error and that means that the additive would be all. Measurements, however, showed a level of 12/15, so almost completely. And since the update did not bring, he thinks that the level indicator of the additive spins. Does anyone know the problem ? Is this a float like in the carburetor, which clamps ? But more importantly, if additive is present, the soot burning then works still correctly or is prevented by the error message the burning of the soot ? In clear text, Can I continue until the next 60 000 km are full ?? But have no desire to be dragged off on the highway due to power drop. Thanks in advance, Volker

  • S60 D5 year 2002 AUTOMATIC question!

Hello, you love VOLVO drivers! I’ve been counting on it for almost 2 years and so far I’m very satisfied: 163hp and 222,000km on the Tacho. Was actually never something big, only normal wear (brake, cross-linker jack, springs rear) ride about 30-35,000km p.a. Mostly federal road and highway. And now the question: I’m on the way to the city more often in recent times. I don’t think that the car sometimes wants to make a set at the traffic light when I’m standing on the brake. Of course not. Just a slight jerk. And when I go off the gas, the automatic switches back and forth between 2nd and 3rd gear. Was at Volvo and they say that is so at age. Don’t have to worry about it. The automatic doesn’t make any noticeable noises. Kick-Down etc. everything will be good. Also in normal operation. The Volvo employee also said that a flushing or exchange of the gear oil is not necessary. There is no need for a forum too? There is no need for me to write a message about it all about the same thing.

  • Profile depth at the front/back

Hello municipality, wanted to hear your opinion: “The tires with the most profile should always be in the back (to reduce the risk of breaking out).” This is what the user manual says, but it is also to be read elsewhere. I think, however, that I have more of it, if I have the tyres with more profile depth on the front: – Aquaplaning occurs in the front, the better profile depth is very helpful – Especially in winter when braking on snow, tyres with more profile are noticeably better – Likewise when I’m cornering, with lower profile depth and with snow, especially with wet snow, a larger profile depth is more sinifiably better – why is the car in my life never broken out (except when I deliberately put it on it) at the rear, thank ESP nowadays either way or no such big topic any more. And I can’t believe that a larger profile depth should offer so much better side guidance later on? (I don’t talk about worn-out tyres!) And if I now consider that I have more profile in front of day situations, especially in winter.

  • Volvo V70 edrive Warning

One should not buy this car at all, if one has the intention to be environmentally friendly and cost-friendly. it is a consumption of 4.6 l/100 km in average sugeriert. With a start stop automatic, which switches off the engine in the cold condition and immediately starts up again. How long does the starter last. Special tires, an extremely economical, small engine. With what great expectation we bought this car. Previously we had a V70 with D5 engine and this was to be driven with just under 6.5 liter/100 km. Now, with the same driving mode : 10%City, 40% Überland, 50% Autobahn (Ö) just over 6.5 liter/100 km This is more than 40% above the declared value. We drive > 30000 km/year, i.e. means about 1000 Euro more fuel costs / year. For me the fraud is. If you would like to know if someone else is going the same way with this car, would like to seek a collective lawsuit against Volvo.

  • Rinsing Automatic transmission S60

Hello, so in the forum it is often reported that one should not only change the gear oil, but also make a flushing. In addition, some talk about changing the servo cover. Well, my automatic is after 13 years and 223,000 km no longer like on the first day and my workshop and I agree that one can exchange the oil once. Now I have read that one can not change the filter and therefore also makes sense a flushing. But how should one wash there? Must happen contrary to the normal direction. How does this happen??? And at all: Why rinse? Ultimately, the abrasion, which is not let off, collects in the filter. And what exactly does a servo cover do? Volvo does not know this and my workshop, which is really good, does not say anything. The googles however sometimes. We never bring such an old car to new state anyway. It is only about receiving. Greeting Knut

  • Camshaft defect?

Hello, how sure some of you know I have since January 2012 a Volvo S60 2.4 with automatic transmission. After I and also some here in the forum initially assumed that the problems on my car have to do with the old battery, a new one was installed. Now, however, the car makes problems again! The following things: 1. During the cold start the speed fluctuates and when I insert the driving stage “R” the car almost goes off. 2. Partially the engine light burns (orange) and the following strikes me: – louder engine noise – less power (almost no kickdown possible) – hard switching of the gears (are hit or switched unnecessary) The reading of the error memory resulted in “error signal camshaft” Have already had the error memory read out two times but the problem continues to appear! A conversation with the previous owner showed that the car did not have these problems before. Now the toothed belt has been changed to me before the sale. Can it have something to do with it? Do you have an idea? LG from Chris?

  • S60 CD changer retrofit HU-603 Radio with RTI navigation system year 2004

Hello to everyone! I’ve had my elk for many years now and what happened to me recently on the CD: For the S60 there is a CD changer -> How easy it is to retrofit it? My vehicle is equipped with the RTI Navi and the radio is the HU-603. Is it possible to retrofit and if so, how complicated is it? Which parts (except of course the CD changer) will I need for this? If someone has time and desire to write some information about it, I would be very grateful! Have a nice day and a safe ride! DistronicS
