  • Automatic: Oil and lock switch

Moin, I have two questions about my automatic system (AW50-42). My first question is about the right oil. The automatic system was flushed by the previous owner with Dexron III (a total of 10 liters). Now Vadis and Haynes say that Dexron IIE belongs in there. Basically, one often reads that D III has higher standards/specifications than D IIE, which is why it can be easily used. On the other hand, during my research in another forum, I came across that D III mine D IIE is supposed to be synthetic. That would be a not insignificant difference in quality in the engine oil sector. And finally, it is also reflected in the price: While DIII is comparatively cheap (10 liters is already available for 40 euros), you pay for D IIE more than 20 euros the litre. Which, of course, can also be due to lack of demand. Can anyone bring light into the dark about the right oil? And should the oil perhaps rather be like r are changed? I started with the research because my automatic sometimes switches a bit hard, but not necessarily during the ride, but much more so when you switch from P or D into the reverse gear. There is sometimes a very neat blow in the neck, which is why I am a little concerned about the automatic. However, these harder switching processes could possibly also have something to do with my second question: initially the rear lights flickered r at least for a very short time when you switched on in R. But there is nothing at all (there is no 12 V). Very probably the problem lies in the lock switch (PNP switch), at least this symptom is often called in conjunction with dirty / bent contacts in the lock switch. A cleaning is probably a miracle. Now I have 1-2 more symptoms and I wonder if they could also have to do with the lock switch? On the one hand, the Because the car doesn’t start in “N” anymore (that’s pretty stupid in the washing machine, because the engine has to stay on during tow operation, if I want to get out of the wash road somehow). On the other hand, the key can be pulled off in all the inserted driving steps. Normally this should only work in P. And finally, I could imagine that the somewhat jerky switching in R and from R to D could also have to do with the switch? Thank you very much!

  • 3 bicycles on or behind the XC70?

Dear Volvo friends and bike riders, the following situation: – family: man (1,85m tall) + woman + child (4, can ride a bike recently) – car: XC70 MJ11 with original removable AHK & E-Heckklappe – wheels: 2× MountainBike 26 inch / 1× children’s bike 16 inch Now there is only the road in our place to practice a longer piece on the bike. Everything else is not suitable, hardly fixed field paths with slopes, which are still too demanding for the son. We want to charge the bikes from time to time after work, an hour in the park away from home practice us again. What kind of carrier should I choose for it? For the summer holiday 2015 I have reserved an Ahk carrierThule EuroClassic G6 LED 929. Is such a thing also suitable for the quick after – celebration evening use? Or rather on the roof? What do you think? Financially is rather secondary – first find the most practical solution. Thank you!

  • Engine vibrations in the steering wheel? (S80II D5)

Hello, I changed the track bar and now I mean to notice engine vibrations much more strongly in the steering wheel (e.g. in the stand). I imagine that the steering wheel before was absolutely quiet, which of course could have been due to the emptied track bar. Or is there still a rubber sleeve that was decoupled and forgotten something? 🙂 What about you? Does your steering wheel vibrate something? Have a nice Sunday, A.

  • New elk just getting

Dear community, 4 hours ago it was time. I was able to pick up our new elk. 4 weeks before the agreed date. It is an XC 60 T5 AWD Momentum in magic blue. The color is simply the hammer. Was a perfect decision. Otherwise after 25km the first impressions: processing, split dimensions, quality feeling much better than the old one of 2012. Operation is the same as before. The engine is really great!!!!!!! Corey when accelerating, with an extreme smooth running in idle and when rolling back. The 5 Ender Diesel was already horny to listen to but the gasoline top this. Since it is my first automatic, I feel the 6 Gang GT as very pleasant and suitable. But have no comparison! The consumption, after 28 km, of course not representative: according to BC currently at 10,9 l! But will certainly not be the norm. However, I am not thrilled, regret the step and also not the decision per XC and against V 60 CC! Pictures follow ! LG from Vienna

  • Premium quality???

After exactly 3 years and 90,000 km the brand logo slowly dissolves. If that’s all Premium Let’s see what the says Beautiful weekend

  • XC60 Price without heatable windshield

Moin in the round, little smiler for the end of the day. I’m just putting together a new XC60. As the heating wires in the windshield disturb me, the summum package does not come into question. So the car has to be built on the basis of momentum. This makes the car 1,500€ more expensive :-)) So the absence of the windshield costs really money….

  • Who’s buying a new XC 90? Or is buying a new car?

For a few months now there have been hardly any reports about the order, registration or handover of new XC 90. Corona has certainly blocked a lot of things. Is this car too big? too much protz? Or no longer socially accepted? I am interested in this as you can see.

  • iPhone holder in XC90 II – pictures and installation instructions

Hi, in the cup holder at the very front I built a brodit holder for my iPhone 6s, so that I can no longer have any fuss with the cable and put the phone with a handle. Here at flickr I created an album that describes all installation steps with explanation in the image name:https://www.flickr.com/photos/gseum/albums/72157667425747193 Here the same images simply without explanation in the new-style video form on Youtube:https://youtu.be/EldW_BxDSbY And here is the simple handle of inserting:https://youtu.be/v-In3Y9GHpc Pictures of the finished installation in the attachment.

  • Range indicator vs. WLTP value – XC 90 Recharge T8

By means of the search I have found only little to my question and hope that the experts in the forum can give me a short information. I drive an XC90 Recharge T8 since September. From the beginning the range indicator for the hybrid operation with fully charged battery never shows more than 35km and for “Pure” never more than 40km. Now I noticed with inspection of the documents that Volvo for the vehicle shows a purely electric range according to WLTP of 48km or a purely electric range “city” of 52km. I am aware that the range indicator can only represent a rough forecast. But at an external temperature of 15-20C not at least one value should be ejected, which is close to the 48km determined according to WLTP? The actual electric range is by the way in pure operation at all at 35km (at temperatures >15C, understandably clearly below). Did I catch a vehicle with a low battery or is the discrepancy between WLTP value and range indicator so common?

  • Say “Servus” quietly to the deposition…

So, after almost two years of trouble-free discussions with the V90, I’m going to go someplace else. It’s probably due to a little bit of the inertia of my friend, who asked me half a year before the end of the lease, if he could support me in the choice of the successor car, but he simply didn’t respond to my configurations with the request of the lease conditions despite demand. So the choice (hobby and free-time) fell on a completely different vehicle category, there will be a Mercedes V300d Marco Polo in April now. Conclusion of 2 years and 50,000km: average consumption acc. fuel monitor just over 7 liters. A workshop stay due to noise from the rear axle. Otherwise no problems. Due to the sensationally favorable leasing rate, I actually have to get to the car with the lowest maintenance costs since 20 J. I always felt comfortable, the appearance of the V90 is still really good. The Sensus service concept has passed me into meat and blood, I now have to get to the Command system of MB (not a MBUX) and half-D is used as a driver of touch.
