  • Coolant in driver’s footroom

So, now it’s my turn, too. After having the intensified feeling that the pedals are slippery, I had to find out that the floor mat is wet on the driver’s side, while at the same time it feels a bit oily or slimy. This of course also makes the shoe sole smooth. In addition, the cooling water level slowly decreases. Ergo is probably something leaky on the heater heat exchanger. The often described further symptoms such as constantly fogged windows, fog exit from the fan nozzle n or cooling water smell (we actually smell that?) I did not find out, however. Since we had this topic already a few times, I just read a little bit. According to this instruction the heat exchanger goes without changing dashboards, that is already good. I would only like to ask those who have already done this repair, whether in such cases the heat exchanger itself is really always rot or whether other (simplistic) causes can occur. I see two flanges going through the spray wall from the engine compartment. What is behind it, pipes or hose pieces? How are the inside installed or fixed? Second question: It is possible to do a cooling system pressure test. How about the setpoint? Can all workshops do this, or do I have to go to this? Third question: Has someone got a cheap source for a heat exchanger ready or used such a part (but densely) around are you lying?

  • Sticker “Volvo Guard” alarm system.

Hello, have installed an alarm system at my S60 factory. Unfortunately I miss the “VOLVO GUARD” warning stickers on the front side windows. Aren’t these stickers series with an installed alarm system? Can of course also be that my previous owner removed them. Does anyone happen to know if I can get these stickers individually? Bzw. has someone for me a part number? I uploaded a picture of this sticker. Thank you already! LG, Nordisk.

  • S60 D5 Premium (04) with Gateway 500?

Hi guys, I’ve been looking for a Volvo S60 for a long time. I have now 2 on my tighter list and have therefore started to decide based on the necessary changes. I’ve read of many problems if I want to upgrade to MP3. I actually had the idea to build a multifunction double Din Radio. With hands-free device, Navi, MP3 capable DVD player with USB port and of course radio. As most technical subtleties probably connected to the radio My favorite has: – HU 803 with 4x CD changer – Navi – hands-free device built everything from Volvo. Now I have read after a little google of the Dension Gateway 500. The part can connect Ipod, USB Stick, Aux and a lot more and the control of the MP3s is possible via the radio. Display of the ID3Tags on the display is probably also included. However, I have read that it depends on the model of my vehicle and the radio. It must force And be a radio with 4x CD changer, he has yes. Also mentioned is always from BJ 2004. The car is EZ 06/2004, but I can not say if the BJ04 is also so. Do you have an idea too? The other car has just a HU 603 in it, that I could exchange without thinking about a double Din. Unfortunately the interior color with beige is rather unbeautiful and the fittings look more cheap than elegant Please help me a little with the decision Thank you

  • S 60 – Retrofit RTI Monitor (without Navi)

Hello! Recently I have an S 60 and I am disturbed by the view to the rear, which I should improve with a RüFa camera. The camera should be integrated into the license plate holder and the image should be displayed on an RTI screen. The car has no navigator, therefore the monitor has to be retrofitted. Question: can I use the monitor without navigation at all? I searched for days in the forum and am still not smarter… There are apparently adapters that can be connected to the picture screen. rm can connect and then feed a stink normal video signal via cinch cable. So far so good, but: I read that the monitor does not go out on its own, but needs a command from the Navi (which I don’t have) and that the monitor has to be logged in in the (BUS?) system (from the friendly one). Evtl is also planned an ipod coupling, but first of all it is important that the RÜFA camera! I don’t get smart from the many threads… Greetings Hannes

  • XC60: Steering problems – who knows more

Hello, I finally bought my wish XC60 as 2.4D DRIVe used directly from Volvo a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I noticed already on the transfer ride from Stuttgart to Hamburg that the steering is not very direct, but I pushed it to the conversion BMW -> Volvo. Later, however, I heard a loud cracking when driving (only when accelerating, not when rolling). Among other things, the many good contributions here in the forum I had the Verda A serious problem still exists, however: in the case of long turns with the same steering wheel impact (e.g. motorway access), the steering feels “self-defaulted”, it sticks in the steering wheel and you get the impression that the wheels don’t do exactly what they should do (easy flattening/p) and that the steering movement is not exactly what they should do (easy flattening/p) despite the unchanged steering wheel); very unpleasant. Did you already have that and what could it be? Track rod heads or similar ejected, steering gear defective? My joy at the new Volvo is currently slightly clouded, I am grateful for hints!! LG Peter

  • XC70 II: Oil change or oil level

Hello everyone, after my XC 70 (Bj Apr 10) had to go to the workshop today (Navi software, failure of the child protection in the rear right lock as well as the standard recall call because of the circuit), I wanted to have an oil change at km stand 2200 (Please no comment, that this is no longer necessary with the new engines). However, this was rejected by the workshop with the comment “Then he needs more oil later”. Can one of you explain to me, why this s o should be? Second topic would be: The XC70 doesn’t have a real marking rod anymore and you should have the option, according to manual, to read the oil level by key position II in the computer menu. Has one of you already succeeded and has perhaps a better explanation for me. With me there is no “oil level” available. Gruss tomam

  • Volvo VIDA 2015A – does anyone have experience with it?

Hello dear community, does any of you already have experience with the VIDA 2015A? Unlike VIDA 2014D, you need a USB key for the installation of VIDA 2015A. Here you can probably not get around to getting such a key. Furthermore, and that’s what interests me most, the tool VIDA 2015A mainly only works online – i.e. the data etc. are on a server of Volvo and can only be retrieved in this way. Am I right with this assumption? is my real question: since access to this database is constantly online, I would like to know if you have to buy such an access directly from Volvo in order to get access? In this respect, the following manufacturer does not mention a single word about buying such access from Volvo:http://blog.obd2shop.co.uk/…/ Have you tried it yet? If so, can you believe the vendor that no further access from Volvo is needed? Or Is the whole thing doomed to failure as it is not a working solution without such an access from Volvo? Thank you for your answers and until later, David

  • My neighbor wants an XC70…

A strong hej to all XC70 drivers! The following: When I parked my V70II in front of the house this week and wanted to march towards the apartment, my neighbor intercepted me. He thinks that he wants to get a new (used) car. His current Seat Leon is no longer suitable and he would need a car with a lot of trunk and four wheel. He would have it after an XC70 Mj. 2008 which stands with us in the city at a Mercedes dealer (KLICK!). What I think about it. I had to admit that I haven’t dealt so much with the Volvos on Ford platforms yet. But I haven’t heard much about these vehicles with regard to problems yet. I’ve been standing in place at the dealer’s place today and looked at it myself. Purely from the optics it’s good when you look at the km stand. My questions: I’ve already tried to inform myself about the SuFu. So really up-to-date and relevant contributions I could nic Is there any real flaws? What about four-wheel drive? This was a sad topic with Volvo in the past, because I would like to deal with the subject very slowly myself, because something like that should be on my doorstep in the next few years. Greeting Ben

  • Control unit defective? (VOLVO V50)

Hello dear community, I’ve been having a strange problem with my car for a few weeks now. And it was the first time that the air conditioning system has been vertically out again and again, i.e. on the driver’s side, warm air was emitted and on the passenger side only cold air. In between, the air conditioning also went quite normal again and again. Meanwhile, the problem has changed so much that the air conditioning system is now horizontally out. after work, but also not correct. In principle it is now that warm air comes from the front ventilators while the windscreen heating is no longer possible at all at the rear and front and no air comes through the ventilation even in the footroom. I also have no way to change the temperature of the air from the front ventilators. There just warm air comes out there. If I now set the temperature to maximum or minimum the climate automatic notices painfully “Okay, I have to do what The strength of the blower is generally the only thing that I can still set. I can NOT set which climate zones to be heated, I can NOT set which temperature should be in the car, I can only set how much the blower should work. Through a diagnostic program I received an error message the “configuration control unit unplausible (climate automation)” was called. Now there is for me some possibility w How to make it? Reset air conditioner? Software update for ECU? Do you have a guess what’s broken at all? Best regards Carlos

  • I despair of LEDs for front

Hello, I would like to replace the interior lighting with LEDs in my V50 (Mj2012). I also got matching sets on eBay and Amazon. Everything fits and works wonderfully – in the trunk, in the roof sky fond lighting, in the footroom, in the glove compartment. Only the front four lamps (top in the roof sky above the switch lever, two pieces for “door-on” and two pieces for reading lamps) simply do not want to shine. The bulbs are W5W according to the imprint, the LEDs too. But I put the pears out of the sockets and plug the LEDs in, nothing more. I switch them off again for the pears, the light goes on. What could this be about??? – Turning the LEDs because of +/- I did of course – Switch on/off/a too – I’m also grateful for every tip.
