Am I stupid?? Or: The wondrous gait increase
All those who want to read the short version can start at the next paragraph. Before my V70 I had a 850 with four-speed automatic, which was also clearly recognizable when switching through. When I then tested the V70 I immediately thought to myself: “Cool, finally five gears!”, because that was how it got me at least the feeling of the switching processes. I drove around with the car now for two years until I read yesterday rather by chance that my V70 should only have a four-speed automatic. several attempts made and all showed the same result: Either I’m stupid and can’t count (my university degree speaks 🙂 ) or my Volvo switches from standstill to about 80km/h four times, which results in a total of five gears. Could a different gear have been installed later by the previous owner? The translation of the “fifth” or highest gear corresponds in any case to that of the four-speed automatic (about 42km/h per 1000U/min) Or are there any other tricks, vo I don’t know anything, like some kind of overdrive or something that’s not counted as a gang?

99er V70 193PS – coilover suspension from KW – who can report?
Hy, I have an original sport Nivo chassis (Nivomate) in my car. I renewed this about 3 – 3.5 years ago. But as I wrote in forgotten Fred, it is a bit too tight, not hard but too tight. Since I have a load eel with which I carry heavy things anyway, the Nivomates are pure luxury in driving behavior. Now I think to install a screw suspension (best of all turned up so that it stands original and inconspicuously there. Have now looked at some , and often you can also be lucky with a 400th chassis (new NoNameCompanies also want to be on the market and have probably built what good?), but I think this is rare. Now I ask myself (since some always mean KW or nothing) if you really notice the difference between Variant 1.2 or 3 or need ? Snow chains needed at XC90?
I’ve had snow chains for each of my cars for the last 20 years, and every 3rd year about I needed them when we were skiing in Styria (A). What about the XC90? Has anyone ever needed chains or would have liked to put them on it? Or should you get away with winter bikes like that (I mean especially compared to normal cars)? Which snow “experience” is there with the XC90? After all, it’s not a mechanical one, but ‘just’ an electronic four-wheel drive.
