  • Volvo 850 is getting too warm.

    Hello together. I am currently driving a Volvo 850 Built. 1996 automatic 2.5L 144 hp with almost 190.000 km on the clock. My problem is: For about a month I have the problem that the engine temperature is often too high for my taste, usually it stands at about 3 o’clock and then moves no more, unfortunately this is only the case with me on the highway. In the city with Stop and Go it rises to about 13:30 to 14 o’clock and sinks only with a few hundred meters of free drive Unfortunately, I can’t say exactly when it first occurred, but in recent times, thermostat, coolant sensor, cooling water and candles have come new. At the beginning of last year a new timing belt plus WaPu, which also definitely promotes. What I noticed is that since that time the radiator fan is no longer controlled. I made a DIY turn signal box for the pseudo OBD II, which I can also control the fan via the motor electrics. rt also so far, both stages can be tested normally. Only the fan does not work at high temperature, nor when using the air conditioning system, what it definitely did before. Now the question is: Is it possible that the suction motor cannot use the thermostat of the R or T5 (opens at approx. 87°C and that of the suction cup only at 92°C) and thus the flow is too fast and the water is not sufficiently cooled and then heat points collect? I have already tested the temperature sensor. The fan starts at the highest level and runs three minutes after the ignition is switched off. The motor lamp also lights up with the Lambda symbol. Engine temperature indicator in the instrument cluster remains unchanged. Maybe someone knows what it can be ??? Have measured everything I can find, resistance from the temperature sensor sinks, the warmer the water becomes. Relay works and also has voltage. Control line from the control unit also has 12V on mass and has passage.

  • Automatic transmission, oil change without rinsing

    Hello I have before my automatic gear oil to change however without rinsing. I would replenish the gear oil twice. In other words, run once replenishing gears by switching off and then replenishing again. Would that possibly already be sufficient? I don’t know the total amount of filling comes out here in this action. However, I thought by filling up through the 2nd it would still be better.

  • AGR, does that cause problems?

    Hello to the round, I’ve been having quite some problems with cold start trucks for some time. Have I pulled the plug off the AGR valve now, then the jerking is gone immediately. In 2 weeks is service appointment. Does it cause any problems if I have the valve plugged off until then? Of course the engine control light went on after third start, but otherwise nothing should happen there actually or? The jerking is annoying and I would rather drive the 2 weeks like that. Particle filter is also full with 16.3 mg and has to be burned out. Overall I would have to put about 3000 euros in the car. How does your glass ball look like?   • Rust on certain components in the engine compartment? 2.0D

    Servus, I’m looking for a used S40, preferably as 2.0D. Today one came fresh into the online ads – stood with me around the corner, therefore despite the high mileage (230.00km) visited. Almost full equipment, Navi, leather, PDC front and rear and checkbook maintained at Volvo. Also on the test drive he drove surprisingly “young” – also not caught anything in the interior. If 130,000km were on the speedometer, I would believe it too. Absolutely everything went, except the washing – Nozzles for the xenons. However, when looking under the hood, I noticed quite strong rust on certain components on the engine. Actually, I have experience with used cars (and also some idea), but I prefer to ask. Now my question: Is this rust problematic?

  • Changing error indicator in V50

    Hi, everybody, it’s about my little moose, who has been trying to drive me crazy since this morning! So, it’s a V50 Bj 2007, 2.0D Was refueling this morning and when I was rolling off the tank, the onboard computer shows a message “motor system maintenance required”…. I’m still up to the office and then bought a diagnostic device during the break to check how acute the problem is! However, he didn’t issue any error code. A nice colleague then watched t and also opened the bonnet, removed the plastic cover and made a visual inspection! bonnet closed again and see, the message had disappeared, for this now stands battery warning! We then measured the Batterie, which was at 11,8V. Sounds not bad for now. Now I searched through the net and I got on a forum entry that it could be battery or even LiMa! Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

  • “Rare” radiator grill ?!?

    Actually I had before my v50 bj. 2004 to convert to the facelift version-zumnd. the front, with the headlights and above all because of the cooler grill, because that is pretty much the only thing that really doesn’t like with my sledge GAR. I have repainted it already black, but I still don’t like it. but by chance I came across a grill at ebay that I’ve never seen before, it almost looks like the one from the facelift model, is alledi ngs for the pre-facelift models! this is exactly the grill that I want to have imposed! does anyone have any idea where this is from? by now I pay attention to every volvo that drives past me on the cooler grill but I’ve never seen it before. if someone happens to have it and wants to sell it, he’ll be happy to contact me! would also exchange it for my current one, photo is in the annex

  • V70 MJ 2006 detachable AHK

    Good evening! I’m new here in this sector and will therefore get on your nerves more often, because with us is soon a V70 with on the yard. It should be a removable AHK and then the questions start already already… The Westfalia hang down quite deeply, as I see here in photos hab.   • High oil consumption and sometimes only runs on 4 cylinders

    850, Bj 94, km 280ooo. I passed my 2nd Volvo, in April with new Tüv and ASU without complaint. Now I notice strong oil consumption, at least 1 liter on 1000km.The oil tank is wet, but that’s because of the Simmering. Curve shaft,(I think) was already before. Now the engine runs after about 5 min. in idle only on 4 zyl, after about 10km it is free again. Presumably piston rings of a yl. defective.Maybe shaft seal?. It also does not squelch strongly when accelerating, highest What do you do?
