  • Purchase advice V50 2.0D Momentum equipment

    Hello to the Volvo forum, I am about to buy my first car (budget: 7000 €) and after a long time decided for a Volvo V50 2.0D. Since I am an absolute layman in terms of cars, I first talked to numerous acquaintances about what they generally think of Volvo etc… The quintessence was, rather take something “solid”, i.e. Mercedes,Audi, VW. Well, when I then made it clear that I am not the type for said brands and this was also of the Desig I didn’t really find it appealing (how nice is the V50 from the outside, let alone from the inside!), I went to the search. It was clear that it should be a diesel (the 2.0 should be very solid). Now I found a place at the friendly gravel dealer next door…. Have already looked at it on site with a friend who has a little more idea of car than I (not hard) and it looked so far good.   • Change dust sleeve of the drive shaft

    Servus together, would be very grateful if someone had a solution for my problem. With my Volvo V50 T5 Built 2004 (220 hp) with automatic transmission, the dust sleeve on the gearbox side is torn and if I am already there, would like to renew both, also the wheel side. I ordered both cuffs (gear and wheel side) from the company Polar Parts (no universal cuffs). What’s funny to me is that the wheel side cuff is very flexible in front of me. so that I have no worries to get this with a spreader cone over the joint bearing. With the gear-side cuff it looks different, because this is more rigid and not so flexible. Here I fear a problem when covering over the spreader cone even if the spreader cone has been treated with enough lubricant before. As a hobbyist I have only one spreader cone and no spreader with compressed air! Now my question: Is there a different procedure with the Wech I’m only familiar with the method of spreading. Can someone send me a guide? Or, does the spread cone only work with universal cuffs, because they may be more flexible? Greetings Chris

    Hello out there, after our last error with the RTI of our V50 it is enough for me now. It has to be an update. I have two questions: 1. First I wonder if there is a possibility to run a firmware update, so that this Navi can be improved a bit towards modern times. If so, where can I find something like this online? 2. I don’t quite know which card update I need for our V50 BJ 07/2006. This would be great help.   • Car liability and comprehensive insurance for V70_3 much more expensive than for V70_1

    Why is the car liability and comprehensive insurance for a V70_3 so much more expensive than for a V70_1? For my V70_1, EZ 06_1997, gasoline, 125 kW, I had to pay slightly rising over the years 1990 to 2017 approx. 210 to 260 € for HV, VKV, TKV. BUT: For my V70_3, EZ 6_2008 Diesel, 136 kW, the same company calculates for the same range of services HV, VKV, TKV a premium of 610 €. How is this difference justified? An insurance comparison at Verivox shows, that my Vers.Gesellschaft belongs to the most favorable. Other insurers are even more expensive. If V70_3 owners are more frequent accident causers, are V70_3 stolen more often, are diesel generally rated higher, is the V70_3 classified as expensive exotic model, or what are the transparent reasons? That a pensioner malus would be calculated to me, denies my Vers.Gesellschaft.

  • Navi Update via USB Stick: Which one do you use?

    Moin, I drive an XC60 MY2017. I would like to update the Navi cards and have prepared my USB 3.1 SSD external hard drive with the corresponding update (Volvo page, download tool, then checked –> all good). Since it is a 128gb SSD, I have created a partition with Fat32 and 32gb. So far so good, unfortunately nothing happens in the xc60 when I connect the hard drive to the USB port in the middle arm console. If I understand it correctly, the Au I did all this while driving (of course I plugged the hard drive before going off!). I’m now just assuming that the SSD with the external housing or maybe even usb 3.1 is the problem? I don’t have suitable USB sticks (>16gb) because I’ve been driving well with the external hard drives so far. I want to buy a suitable stick now for the updates and not try around for long: which one do you use? I hope that usb 3 here does not cause any problems, otherwise the 20gb update will take quite a long time….

  • Automatic gearbox: lever actuation – gear is inserted with a jerk.

    Hello and good day. I have problems with the automatic transmission. During the ride it switches completely normal. Only if I put the lever from parking on R or D, the corresponding gear is inserted with a sometimes weak times stronger jerk. Volvo means transmission flushing and synchronizations from the transmission. Price 850 €. Has someone ever had the same problem? I am afraid that it is not solved after this investment.     Hello dear friends, my name is Maximilian, I am 22 and I come from the Mercedes E-Class 211 forum to you. Now I would consider a Volvo V60 as the successor for my Benz, the used car prices are in my opinion quite bearable, also I think that you get a high quality vehicle, although the V60 is a class below the E-Class. But the V70 is design too “traditional” to me… It should be a diesel, possibly with 2 liters displacement u nd 163 hp. My question: Because I’ve heard more often that the Volvo engines are much more robust than the engines that come from Ford, how can I determine which unit is installed in which engine? Can any of you tell me about it? The stability is very important to me, since for me only vehicles with a mileage of over 150,000 are eligible.   • Rear brakes wear faster

    Hello, My S60 now has almost 5 years on the hump and 89,000 km. It had to be replaced 1 times in front and 2 times in the back brake. I drive mostly highway and little city. Does anyone have any idea why the brakes wear faster in the back? Car usually stands in garage, so at home and in the shop. I drive rather forward looking and rather let by switching engine brake. Maybe you have an idea? Thank you
