Moin. I got a little busy with my V50 2.4i today and fixed and exchanged a few things. Actually I wanted to change the spark plugs as well… There was only one problem that kept me from doing it… So everything worked out without any problems until I really got to the spark plugs (intake bridge etc. disassemble). I wanted to turn the candles out then and realized that this was very difficult. I used a “knarle” with a short extension and 16 candle nut. I started as a o and wanted to turn out the first candle. I already realized that it was only possible with a lot of power. I turned on carefully but at some point I thought I’d rather let it be before I destroy the candle and make the engine unusable for the first time. I couldn’t even turn the candle because it was really hard and I had respect for the candle being “copped”. I left the candles in it now… By the way NGK candles like I can decipher it with difficulty nntte. Now the question… That’s not normal that this is so difficult… What can I do to make it better and do it without much damage? Did anyone ever have the problem with the 5 cylinder? I suspect that the previous exchange of someone with 1000hp arms was made without any sensitivity… Greeting

The birds like my car!
Hello together, I have a funny phenomenon, which may not have directly to do with the car, or maybe still ? So first of all: My little elk (Saphir Schwarz) parkes directly at the house. In front of the house there are 6 parking spaces next to each other. My car is always the only one that is totally crowded by the birds in this parking lot…… is ! Ok, I just thought, change the parking lot. So I switched with a neighbor and stand now on his Parking. And now you can guess what happens: My car is still full…… of the birds that my neighbors don’t! Now I wonder: Why do the animals like my Volvo ????? Can this possibly be related to the color? It all sounds quite strange, but it annoys me extremely, because the eternal cleaning gets annoying ! To the info: My neighbor, with whom I exchanged, drives a completely new Audi A4 also in black ! Also the other cars (Sm Art and Sharan) are avoided by the birds, only mine not ! Is there perhaps a bird scout here ? I mean, somehow it has to be explained *grumble*. I’m looking forward to the answers …. Greeting

Automatic gliding inside mirror
Hello! Can you actually recognize by the manually operated glare lever whether you have a glare automatic or not? You mean, can you assume that Mirror WITH Automatic does not have this lever??

BackLift XC90
Hello. About the facelift of the XC90 model year 2007 was already discussed plentifully. The most important thing was the optical changes. Sure everything is a matter of taste; you can see my taste in the enclosed picture. In detail are involved: – drop engine designation – distance model designation – chrome strip from MY2007 – mirrored flasher bulbs Next there are number plate holders made of stainless steel.

Optimum tyre size for V70 II
Hello to all Volvo friends! It won’t be that long before you can think about summer bikes again. I wonder which tire size is the optimal one for my V70 D5 AWD. I fluctuate between 16 inches with 205 or 215 widths or 17 inches with 225. The 17 inch tire was described elsewhere as quite uncomfortable (is of course the more interesting variant), the chassis itself is also rather tight. I also ask myself, whether you can easily drive back home with the 16-inch reserverad (that’s what I did) with a trailer (we’re also travelling in Southern Europe – something like that happens there) too. 16 inches in 215 width should sometimes also be a problem, because the tyres may be scrubbing… What are the experiences? I already thank you for all your contributions.

Oil in the cooler – Oil consumption – end in the moose area?
Hello, just now I was still happy about my manageable clutch taker cylinder repair (was only the blast ring) and now that: that the good 1996er 850 2.5 144hp at 310,000 km mileage could consume oil, I had already thought. A Volvo screwdriver even meant 1 liter on 1,000 km they still ok. But now I have real oil in the cooling water balance cylinder! The cooler seal supplement can’t be that someone had advised me 2 months ago when I just I noticed a week ago, that the good one at the full-gas-acceleration on approx. 3,200 tours put in a hiccups-moderate pad. Then I had noticed that the engine-ventilation line was floating around freely and spitting oil. The bayonet clasp on the air supply had gone up. I fixed it again. Now I suddenly sense terrible and think the engine is as good as it is (cylinder head seal etc.). A My luck couldn’t have been that short, couldn’t it? What do the old moose-hate mean: is there still hope, or do I have to go on moose-hate now? The current moose has an AHK anyway. And he still does. Greetings, Jürgen

XC90 switch in center console
Hello MT-ler, I have a few questions for the “Electronics”. Since the entrance to the house plot and also my garage is quite narrow, I will have to use the electrically folding mirrors quite often. I also look for a way to accommodate a remote control for the gate opener as unobtrusively as possible. What does the switch bar look like with the current D5 with summum equipment; are there still free slots? Can someone have a photo on this thread? In which order are the switches arranged; can one change the order simply? As far as I know, the buttons are encoded on their function. Here I would like to arrange the mirror operation as the first button. Is there actually a neutral switch for retrofitting which one could use for the gate opener? Where can one “hide” a garage door opener? What about the cable guide? Has one done this before? Thank you for your helpful information. n Steamboat (which unfortunately still only theoretically can deal with the big guy)

Conversion Volvo V70 I T5 automatic with front wheel drive on four wheel
Hello, I’m new here and have very little idea of technical things. But I have a wish, namely to convert my V70 T5 239 PS automatic front wheel drive year 1998 to all-wheel drive. I also own a V70 2.5 Turbo manual transmission year 2000 with 194 hp with all-wheel drive where the engine has smoked (valve burned away). Now I want to make out of the broken AWD Volvo a T5 AWD Volvo with automatic (I prefer) or switch, because the money for a Volvo T5 R is missing. Now my question. Is this possible at all and if so, how elaborate is the matter? Thank you for your answers Andreas

Summer tyres for V70, BARUM or NOKIAN?
Hello, I need new summer tires for our Mittelelch (no AWD), as a normal driver with city load and quiet driving on BAB. In the closer selection I have taken BARUM Bravuris 2 (currently ca. 80,- €) and Nokian ZG2 (currently ca. 105,- €), each in the dimensions 225/45 ZR17 91 (Speedindex: Barum – W and Nokian – Y). Are these suitable for our V70 D5 185PS (no AWD)? Can you recommend these to me as a user? Do not want to save at the wrong end, but big brand names are unfortunately My previous P6000 from Pirelli were not exactly the bringer, despite all positive test results al la ADAC & Co. What would the choice of a slightly higher load capacity ratio (e.g. 94) and/or a higher speed index bring, with regard to the smooth running, the rolling resistance and corresponding wear. Would that be recommended? We actually never drive faster than short-term max. 170 to 180 km/h, otherwise probably rather comfortable 130 km/h, but in wind and weather. Of course I am open for further – really good – recommendations… Thanks already!
