Hello professionals, my Volvo V70 EZ 1997, 2.5L petrol, 144hp, with 365,000 km, loses massive oil on the steering gear for three weeks. Car stands now and is not moved anymore, loses too much. LecWec I poured in two weeks ago – unfortunately brought nothing. Who told me my free workshop that you can not repair the steering gear but buy and install it again that then in a little 1000-110€ cost I had already considered this as “economic total damage” and Now I think that you should do the repair, even if the V70 I has a few other flaws. Have read here in the forum, that you can get with various suppliers (e.g. Polar Parts) also outdated steering gears for 250-300€, or “no-name” products. Does anyone know a screwdriver in the Rhine-Main area, who performs the repair of a steering gear? Or a screwdriver, who gets the general overhauled and installs it? Or should I look around for a new V70 III. order it on the internet and have my workshop installed (but don’t know if it does)? With an outdated steering gear, it would have to cost approx. 650-800€ including installation. Does this work? Does it work somehow cheaper? Do you have experience with outdated steering gears? Does it make sense to invest this from your point of view? How long does a clutch hold at the V70 I? I rather drive long distance. At 140,000km the clutch was changed. Now there are 365,000 on the clock. Greetings, Windmann

Trip to Iran with my Volvo 850
Hello car community, a few friends and I will participate in the 2016 Allgäu-Orient Rally. The destination this year is Iran. As a condition of the rally is that the vehicles may not be worth more than 1111.11€ we have chosen a 20 year old Volvo 850 Kombi. I bought the red “jewelry piece” today. It has fresh 317,000 km down and is surprisingly well preserved. In the past a lot has been done (witness system, timing belts, gasoline pump) My question to the Volvo community is now what kind of spare parts should I take with me? Are there “Typical” spare parts? What should I replace in advance or renew on suspicion? Thank you in advance ToM

Found the perpetrators!
Hello! I am delighted to report that I have found the culprit who is responsible for the wrong air! And that is the colleague on picture 1 of the culprits! On picture 2 you can see where he pulls massively wrong air. So, he’s probably perforated! My LMM seems fine and the Lambda too, but more precisely you can say after the exchange. What should I do now? Exchange against the original product, or as I would like to have it against the following to ta uschen:http://www.snabb.us/…e-Fresh-Air-Pipe-99-00-SV70-99-05-C70_p_11.html The part costs twice as much, but … it’s worth it! There’s also a video where the part of FCP-Europe is installed. Here to see:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ym5Cen4sPs Maybe someone has already built something like this, has experiences with it, or whatever…

Immobilizer causes problems
Moin, we have the problem that the previous owner of our 850 2.5 petrol engine said smart as he is to retrofit an immobilizer himself and since then the car has repeatedly the problem that after starting some lights in the speedometer do not work and also light, turn signal ect. does not go. Now the car has such a small box with a small socket key. Now my question: Can you possibly bridge the immobilizer that you no longer need the key for it?

Help – where are the front headlight fuses ?
Hello, unfortunately I am still very inexperienced with car screwing – I want to change a xenon lamp for the front headlight to the right of the Volvo, S60. The replacement lamp did not work. As a result I have the still working lamp of the left side installed in the version of the right front headlight – LAMPE BLIEB DUNKEL ! Aha, I think, then it lies on the control unit or the fuse. But I do not have the descriptions for the fuses – I find no explicit indication: fuse X is for the right headlight etc. Does someone have a tip ? I have already sipped all the fuses in the engine compartment for testing. Danke for every hint ! Christoph G.

Noting of the tailgate
Hi, since our V60 tailgate could not be unlocked anymore, I searched in the forum and otherwise in the net and found nothing, except a hint somewhere that there must be a note lock. That’s why I went to the search and showed here how the note lock of the tailgate can be operated on the V60. 1. Picture 1 Punching through the plastic cover of the lock with the emergency key or similar iron, e.g. small screwdriver. There is a perforation that exactly anze The emergency key fitted exactly and went through the plastic like butter. 2. picture 2+3 A pointed object slightly bent from left to right and inserted into the now existing opening (left to right is meant if you are lying in the back of the trunk with a view). Maybe 4-5 cm max. Then the tip n easily tilt object from left to right and the lock unlocks immediately. Best regards to the Volvo dealership H. from FZ, especially to Mr. W., who told me on the phone, very elaborate thing, and the interior cladding has to go off and gets broken sometimes. If you have to make such sales and all the people think stupid, then I doubt the decision for a Volvo now, although I am a convinced Volvo driver for many years. Not to be seen. Guys guys guys. Greetings Peter [Transmitted by motor talk from the theme ‘V60 year 2010 ff. Notentriegelung tailgate’.]

Heaters – how do you handle it?
Hello to the round, I have read a good 50 articles here, and am now a little confused. I have admittedly never been busy with the topic, since the Tiguan Diesel automatically switches on the heater, even for short distance. I guessed so also with the Volvo. Yes, I know: after 8 years you should be informed accordingly. Ash about my head. I drive the XC but also only sporadically. Now however to the reason of my confusion. I have here among other things the following n Post found:In addition to its function as a comfortable room heating system, the heater has a second task: If the outside temperature has fallen below a certain value at the start – as for example now in winter – the operating diesel is preheated for better gasification. Does this mean that I don’t have to turn on the additional heater at all, because the heater is automatically switched on? Or has the author confused SHZ and heater here? Or is it possible here to do so. Questions about questions. I have switched the heater to “one” since today, despite the short distance. However, the car hangs on the CTek when it is not used, so I don’t think much about the battery (the biggest model of minor that fits into the box).

Climate compressor clocks every 5 seconds
Hello together, the car has not been so long. I found today that the climate compressor in the switched on condition about every 3-5 seconds on and off. The previous owner told me he was about 9 months ago at the climate service. This cycle would speak for too little refrigerant. What is the best procedure? Should I first have the climate filled again to make sure that it is really full? Have now briefly on the valve to the On the other hand, I had a few drops of greenish oily liquid under the cooler after the transfer in the front? But not since then. I checked everything with a black light flashlight, didn’t discover anything. The cooler fan does not run, even though the climate is switched on. Or does it come after a certain time, because I always have the climate stand for a short time. If the engine runs longer and is straightened in the idle g warm, the fan is already on, even if the climate is off. How should I best proceed? Greetings Horst

KKL AutoDia K409
Hello, I can’t get any further with this OBD2 story. Now I have found out that for my elk (860 10V 144PS BJ.96 petrol / ID: YV1LW5102V2285636) pin7 plugs have to be rerouted to PIN3 socket to read out the moto control unit – ‘Fenix 5.2 (10V suction cup 22-99)’. Also for climate ECU and cruise control. In addition, PIN16 and PIN5 should be connected to each other (plug / jack). Couldn’t I just connect PIN3 and PIN7 in the K409 plug with a small switch. Wouldn’t it make things easier? Or could something go wrong, and I can only connect the 3 PINs with cables (plug / socket)? And is my research even true? Greetings, Jürgen
