Hello all, in the new XC90 there is no entertainment system for the 2 row of seats. Basically I would not be interested here, because mostly anyway too expensive for the short time it is used. To date we had here from Philips DVD Player with a fixed bracket which is also quite good and between the 2 rods the headrest of most cars can be mounted. Now the Volvo has no rods on the headrest! And I can therefore not use them anymore. Well in general a tablet of course also offers more possibilities! You can watch movies, play games and in the Nett Surfing. Therefore I find the solution to dodge the tablets. Now I have asked the friendly times, and there is an ipad solution! Also seems to be quite ok. The iPad is even loaded the cables are hidden. But the whole cost almost 1000€ for 2 pieces. And you still need the 2 iPads. Now to the actual question, what solutions have you found for you? Is there a holder that can be mounted to the XC90 headrest and then has a holder for the iPad of course also clearly in the cheap?

Gear oil gets too hot in trailer operation
Hello Volvo-driver, before you answer me now, I should use the search function – I definitely found nothing suitable in the whole “Net”! I have a V70 II model 2004 with automatic transmission (AW 55-50). I bought the vehicle used. It had already a trailer coupling. So about after 2 hours drive with the trailer (weight 1400 kg) and full load of the towing vehicle the transmission oil is so hot that the automatic switch to an emergency program and the error “gear maintenance required” lights up. So when I give the Volvo a break and then drive again, everything is again in order, until the oil gets too hot again etc. The cooling water temperature rises u.a. also times to the red area, but always goes back again. So the whole thing is always (sunless never!!!) in the trailer operation can not be filled up with the operator’s manual – the error message is always deleted from the OBD II – then it will not be again until I drive with a caravan. I already several times, especially after the trailer rides the gear oil completely changed (by not having been filled up) and the dealer’s help for the operator’s unfortunately.

Advice for upgrading to XC90 D5 185PS
Hello, since I would like to take a look at a nearby XC90 D5 with 136KW/185PS, it would be nice if you could give me a few hints, what I should pay attention to. Here are some key data about the vehicle: EZ 03/06, KM 124tsd, particle filter, 6-speed automatic, TÜV new, inspection due, equipment: Navi, leather, seat heating, no AHK, PDC rear, DVD changer, multifunction steering wheel – otherwise stop what is probably normal basic series Other: second hand, offered by private, Volvo checkbook maintained I have already a bit of a buggy but certainly not found the important information again (a comprehensive forum search usually takes a whole week). So would be nice if one or the other could give me some hints, what I have to pay attention to. Greetings braucki

High beam does not snap in, remains weak
Moin, am quite new here, so first of all hello to everyone! With my Volvo V40 Bj 2001 the main light does not snap after I pull the lever over stage 1 after stage 2. The light horn comes however. That is the same light as the main light, right? At the same time the bulb of the main light stays on, but only very weak… A mechanical problem is probably not or should a mechanical snap be noticeable at the lever? Oddly enough, it is also the case with me that when the main light lever is switched off, the dipped light (and not the main light) is correctly snapped in. If the engine is running again nothing. I pull the lever back (out of the first resistor of the light horn) and the main light goes on, while releasing again. Thank you for your answers! Pyfo

Thank you Volvo !!
Thank you Volvo, that you build such safe cars!! I was able to experience yesterday live, how sure such a V50 is built. Yesterday an Opel Astra with at least 100 kmh unbraked, into the passenger side. He packed me on the rear axle, hurled me against a tree and then pushed into the ditch. I got out as if nothing had been done. Except for a sling trauma and a slight bruise I got nothing. Only the V50 of course is completely destroyed. But no matter, you can replace it!! Ps.: also the Astra driver was God is only slightly injured thanks !!

Switch the petrol pressure regulator?
Hello, so was today briefly in the workshop because of my starting problems. The mechanic immediately said that my petrol pressure regulator is defective. Did just look at the whole thing more closely. The petrol pressure regulator sits on the aluminium strip with the injection nozzles. My question is now, can you remove it yourself? Are the injection nozzles still fixed elsewhere? or are these just the screws on the front? Do you have to pay attention to something? Would you order the controller at Scandix.

Fill up coolant
Hello, the topic has already been addressed and dealt with in various other threads, but somehow I have not yet found an answer for my problem. In my S40 some cooling liquid is missing. In other words, the stand is not in the middle between the markings “Min” and “Max”, but rather at “Min”. Can I fill this up with tap water without hesitation, since there is hardly any risk of frost at the moment? Or does the smallest deviation of the mixture, which I don’t even know, because it always makes the workshop a safe function of the cooling circuit? Thank you already for your answers! Greetings, S

V90 Recharge: additional heating defective
Hello together, since Monday the heating in the E-operation (Pure or Hybrid) no longer heats, it is asscold. In the climate control the additional heating is activated. Also via the app the pre-climateization with connected charging cable can no longer start. As soon as I switch on the burner, it becomes warm. First remote diagnosis of the workshop: electrical heating module defective. High-voltage team however overloaded, therefore no remedy at short notice. Nevertheless appointment on Thursday “to read out the error memory”. Is this a known problem and how complicated are the works? It was written in the forum already a lot about stand heating/Zusazuheizung etc… Fröstelnde Greetings

Replace Electric Window Lifter
Servus dear community, I’ve been proud owner of a Volvo V40 Bj 2000 1.8 122hp for a few days now. Now I wanted to go to work yesterday, stand in front of the barrier to the parking lot and my window doesn’t go down anymore. It was pretty soon clear to me that something about the electrics/mechanics is not right, because the passenger window is still fully functional. I had already thought that I had to act soon because the window has already stalled a bit while driving up and down, but I didn’t expect it to go so fast haha. You don’t hear a noise in the door when you press the button and the disk does not move up or down any piece. Now, however, I’m asking myself some questions about the repair and I wanted to see if anyone can help me here, since I’ve never exchanged/separated an electric window lifter before. To my questions: I can somehow replace the tension on the windows, should I have to check out a certain window?

Total economic damage
Hello Elk friends, yesterday it caught my parked elk in front of the house. A lady drove her golf back against my elk at 07:00 in the morning. She caught the rear left side. Was in the afternoon right at the expert who took the damage. The problem is, the opposing insurance does not have to pay for the repair of such old cars. There is max the replacement value 🙁 . And if the insurance thinks the V40 is traded on average at 900 euros, then there is also only the 900 thalers and possibly even less. I will fix the damage as well as keep the costs low. Hope that behind the fender and behind the bumper are not too big damage. The V40 only had to park on the road because he got a brother-elk 🙁 ( XC70 D5 AWD) Let’s see if I can save the V40.
