  • XC 90 catastrophic engine damage

    Hello, I would like to point out that I am still free with my XC 90 D5 switch (12/05), nevertheless I would like to share an experience with the community. Sunday after Ascension, My wife with 2 children on the A11 return trip Rügen-Berlin. After 4 hours of leisurely driving in a one-lane motorway construction site suddenly stuttering engine, funny noises, no more gas. There were no standing spreads, so stopped, got out, behind the car a huge oil track. Moto r no longer starts, gear shift “fixed” (OK, starting attempt could have been saved…) Result: full lock of the highway, 30mk traffic jam, my wife and the children arrive 3 hours later squeaky-fitted on an ADAC truck. Volvo-Assistance very friendly and competent, car is towed to the workshop on Sunday evening, car rental (BMW 318, could also have had a RAV4) by courier. Workshop: after 2 days “It is the vacuum pump, we order a new one”. Today: “I’m sorry, we just got the OK from Volvo, they’re getting a new engine!” Booahhh, after 20,000 km a new engine…. I’m going to drive the 3rd for a few more days, to be honest, I miss the fat guy already, compared to a “real” car.

  • Volvo V70 Oil Change – Which oil and even doable?

    Hello, I bought an old Volvo V70 two months ago and I am very pleased with it. He has 358,000 km on the clock and buzzes like a kitten. Would now like to perform an oil change. It is the classic 5 cylinder with (believe 144? PS). Just a good 10W40 or what would you fill?   • Radio temporarily suspends

    Gude together, my C70 has been running almost perfectly for a long time now and without any major problems. The only really disturbing shortcoming to her is the radio: sometimes it cracks. I honestly find it quite difficult to describe the problem, because I can’t see regularity. Sometimes when I start the car and/or turn on the radio (SC901) the radio works, but there is no sound. After 1-3 minutes it cracks inconceivably loud (at the first appearance I have s o terrified that I almost landed in the ditch) and then the radio works again perfectly. Also during the ride it occurs occasionally. But after a unique appearance it did not occur a second time in a ride. It is also no difference in quality in the music or other interferences. This problem occurs not only when driving on but also directly after the start in the stand. Both in cold and warm temperatures. Although I was already by jema In other words, it might be due to the heat that changes a bit on the radio, but the problem also occurs with cold car/radio. In google of the problem I encountered various forums, which claim it is the amplifier. However, these forums were limited to Peugot and BMW models. The same source, which with the tip with the warming radio said that the amplifier (4x100W) was not the problem because they were very robust. Makes a radio overhaul there sense or the purchase a new one or do I have the same problem again after a few months? Has anyone been able to solve a solution to the problem or even the same problem?     Hi! I’m going to France for skiing next week. What do the Volvoristi recommend, what you should have with it to cover unbelievable contingencies.     Hi guys, since I have to change cars, I noticed the Volvo S60 a little bit. I always found some Volvos pretty chic and also from the engines they are very appealing. Now I don’t know Volov at all and would need a kind of crash course ….     Hello, my wife had an accident with our V70. Thank God for that – otherwise it might have turned out differently. Now I try to sell the car – which actually works very badly. The old V70 at that time had bought a dealer from the Czech Republic from the vicinity of Selb (Bayern), who mainly deals with Volvos. Extrem ko rrekter Type – but I don’t have any contact details anymore. It is a D5 summum from 2011 with nearly full equipment. The left side is completely gone.   • Oil level after inspection

    Hello, After the inspection, the oil level is now two bars under MAX. Before that, it was always on MAX. I wonder if this is now normal or if too little oil has been filled. The moose is a D3 5th MJ2012. Is there perhaps a new requirement here that less should be filled? Greeting Martin

  • Regular timing belt change – expected costs?

    Hello municipality, my beloved C70 D3 (150 hp) is now 10 years old and according to the maintenance plan, the timing belt change is within the scope of “however” maintenance. Can someone give me a house number in Euro, which awaits me if I have this done at my Volvo contract workshop? I am just thinking about whether I can delay the change for another year, because I actually imagine that I have been careful with the engine. (no speed orgies, just relaxed weeks) dfahren – running performance at the moment 108 TKM ) On the other hand, I know that material fatigue is quite normal. I would rule out arguments like “reselling value” – the car is written off for me and I just keep driving it.
