  • Winter tyres for XC60: 18 inches or 17 inches ?

    Sometime it may be winter, then I need winter tyres for my XC60. I have to buy new tyres and rims. To choose from the Volvo dealer, Pirelli ́s are available in the format 235/65 R17 on rim 7.5 x 17 and 235/60 R18 on rim 7.5 x 18. The rims are each original Volvo rims (Segin / Leda). The price difference between the two alternatives is “only € 200. My current summer shoes are 265/60 on the 18th Leda rims with the standard chassis (nix touring etc.). I feel that this is relatively hard, but I am also spoiled by another Swedish quality product. Since the two winter alternatives do not differ in the tyre width, it doesn ́t really matter what I would take. Even the tyre prices for a future repurchase are not so far apart. For optical reasons, I tend to tend to the 18-inch variant. Are the 17-wheels much more comfortable compared to the 18-wheels or do not notice anything about it? Or do you think there are 17 reasons for another?

  • XC70 AWD (MJ 16) phenomenon : overlaying engine noise, constant sound – in driving mode

    Good evening – since Monday during the ride – I do not have in the stand (empty run) a , the engine noise overlaying , constant sound . The sound is heard in the front part of the vehicle . The sound can be compared to as if one blows in an empty bottle (above on the bottle neck , like flute playing … , or in the distance a fog horn ( from the lighthouse ) . The sound is heard at different speeds . It does not change at speed . The sound never changes at the pitch . The sound sets in about after about 5 km of driving distance . Climate off or on : no change . Volvo service : at ease . I realize that an answer without having heard the sound itself is not easy . But I would at least have tried . Thanks !   • Sour eggs, Volvo leaves you in the rain with real quality problems!

    My XC70 D4 FWD MJ13 shows a slippery clutch in the 5th and 6th gears. The Volvo dealer talked about the installation of an improved clutch as a replacement and offered 20% Volvo-Kulanz. In the forum this deficiency can be found several times, so that one can not speak of an individual case here. On a direct bulwark request Volvo with high mileage and already third year of operation has argued and negated further bulwark. At the same time a commitment to customer satisfaction and long-lasting quality was made. -A hoax- With a mileage of 57,200km this clutch has not even a quarter of its expected mileage. I really have to say that this story in my enthusiasm for the XC70 (my first Volvo) has put me down quite nicely. I am supposed to pay 1100,-€ for a cover that usually has to hold at least 200,000km. Since I have to say VW (previous vehicle was a T4) much more value on customer satisfaction. The two Kulanzantrfagen, which I used over its lifespan, the running performance was at least due to make its quality.

    Hello, my Volvo V60 diesel D3, gear shift needed a new ZMS in the south of France for the moment (I had reported this here in the forum). In order to replace the mass-swing wheel first the gear shift had to be expanded. end august I got back my car fully functional from the free workshop, then drove up to 31.12.2020 (km-level 60.632) without any problems 4.293 km. then out of the nothing without any previous signs: gear shift total damage due to overheating due to far too low gear oil in the system (0.045 l were caught when opening the broken gear). and the accuracy was excluded from Volvo’s contract workshop in augsburg. the gear shift was externally dry, clean, without traces of oil. since the repair in the august I did not visit a workshop, no problems were noticed then no heavy load (no trailer or caravan, no roadway… at Volvo was confirmed to me that there had been no accident caused by the noise, there was no troubleshooting or troubleshooting.

    Hello friends Since my Sintra slowly after 350000 tkm needs more attention again and the needed spare parts on the list more and more we want to separate ourselves from the thick ones now.   • Engine control unit can be installed from demolition? How do I reset software?

    I have a VOLVO V70 II Kombi 2.4 140 hp, chassis no. YV1SW65P912067012, and unfortunately the engine control unit is defective. My Garagist thinks that there is no replacement control unit from demolition/recycling can be installed, except the software would be reset. How can I reset the software? If the control unit has a different chassis no. than that of my vehicle the installation does not work. From Dr. V70 I read that it uses a Motorola programming device for this – where can I get the part? Are there alternatives? Thank you for your tips, Asi Volvo

  • ipod on the new XC 90

    Hello, yesterday I left my 3.5 year old XC 90 D5 and drive since the brand new XC 90 D5 sport. First impression: better automatic, car pulls more evenly, despite chip tuning in the old no power difference to the new (so far) noticeable, super seats with side support – in detail later. Now on my topic (I am lay): In the center console there is an AUX connector, which should be suitable for connection among other things of an IPod. My IPod Mini has beside the headphone connector an ipod-specific cable, which leads into a USB plug – does not fit on AUX! What do you do? At Saturn you sell IPods, but have no idea and no suitable cable. Is there a USB-to-USB connection, which results in an AUX plug (small)? I have not asked the friendly one yet. Who knows advice? Many thanks already for your answers.

  • radio to expand=amatur dead?!

    Hello, There is again a small special production with me instead of everything went great – until I played something into the cards earlier. It’s about the following: I have to install a tablet pc in my v50. fits everything, sits all-wonderful! The problem is only if I expand the factory radio, the whole amatur and not functioning anymore! No speed, blinker…just nothing. I could leave the radio behind the tablet in the hollow of the angschlosen, then it would work, but well….does anyone know how to solve it differently?
