My thesis about summer and winter tires. An invention of the industry to make sales ? The only right point a winter tire has because of its profile more grip in snow but otherwise ? Claim: Summer tires in winter becomes hard because of the cold and the winter tires in summer softer because of the rubber mixture . The fact is that the winter tires slip just like the summer tires on ice and also on foliage because the tires do not slip on the foliage but the wet foliage on the road . Now to the rubber mixture, the tires rubs while driving and becomes very warm therefore the rubber is always warm not immediately at the start but after 1 to 2 km . A whole year tire has actually only both profiles . Due to the heat development the glue of the former round-renewed running surfaces which were also not glued . I drove in winter 2001 with summer tires to Switzerland and the car behaved like in summer, my colleague drives only with winter tires the whole year and the car keeps track even at high speeds in summer in the curve . All lug and deception ?

Engine selection
Hi the manschaft, I need your support. I want to buy a Volvo XC60 (between 2009 and 2013). The problem is, there are really many engine variants, and it’s really hard for me to make a decision. I have a few requirements: it has to be a diesel car because I drive at least 3500km a month, and should also be normal in terms of maintenance costs. With such small SUVs I would like to prefer an autimatic transmission, but if it makes sense, I prefer to let the professionals decide. And if you also know other SUVs that are good, please just mention, it can always help.

Climatic compressor defective
Hello dear elk forum, actually I don’t own the V50 anymore (now XC60), I passed it on within the family, but I still have problems Contact person News Problem: not a great climate. And only when it’s hot, so really hot! Under 25 degrees everything sparks, it’s over after a few minutes. And even after restart no more. Only the next day…. He changed dryer and capacitor (€800), but it wasn’t discovered now: the compressor doesn’t run after a while, it’s somehow stuck. According to the type (V50 2.4l GT from 2006, 175tkm) never existed. Has anyone ever had this before? Is this really the only one? Now the next €1300 should be in. Not a little…. Greetings!

Pipeline rusted from the steering gear at the D5, is there a repair kit?
Moin together, with my V50 D5 a pipeline from the steering gear is rusted through and now leaks. When steering oil splashes out of the pipe. Does anyone know if there is a repair kit? My workshop says no, the complete steering gear needs to be replaced. In the V70 II forum I saw pictures of a repair kit. I am a bit perplexed and hope for a good tip from you now! Many greetings to the rainy Land Max

Speaker for Volvo V50 BJ 2008
I could not find a clear recommendation. I want to replace the creepy sounding ls of my volvo v50 (performance sound, the simplest radio) with better sounding. this has certainly made one or the other already? can someone say something to me about an ls (manufacturer, type etc.) or give me a recommendation or if necessary from an ls clear advice? I want to replace the ls in the doors (front and rear) and if possible also the tweeters in the front doors. I have already found a guide like the door claddings to remove. I am looking for a recommendation for the speaker. thank you & thank you b.

Question concerning 4x exhaust system C70II
Evening on the other hand, my car is now again the second week in the workshop and now I am tired. All the time there is something about the car now it is the suspension in the back, the springs have been changed, etc. etc. etc.. I put in alone in these two weeks about 3000€ but no matter. I want to make up the car, because I will scrap it anyway, he should give up the mind. Now comes still TÜV in the next week and should he make this survival out of it I still look for a 4x exhaust have seen one at Heico, but whether it is really his money value? Does someone still know a nice exhaust for this car? Do you have some good ideas what you could do with the car? New rims 18″ with new Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tires are already looking optically cool.`Can the tires recommend you absolutely TOP in every weather the car drives wonderful. New leather covers are also made in two weeks and be daunting on 265PS he is already. After I have received TÜV will be on about 220PS silver.

XC90 V8 US import, speed limit
Since the beginning of the year I drive a Volvo XC90 V8 Bj 95. A great car and since the conversion to LPG ( ca. 18 L / 100 km ) 10 cents / km a really cheap V8, especially with the driving pleasure!!! Problem: It accelerates powerfully up to exactly 190 km/h and then brutally regulates (also on petrol operation). Can you override this fun brake? My Volvo dealer says no! I hope someone from the fan community knows it better or has a advice, especially since the vehicle papers are at 210 km/h! Greet Lutz

Water in the interior
Moin together. I’m curious if someone has the same problems. I’ve had a V70 D5 year 2002 since May. Was really excited until it rained more often. Get in one morning and notice a 5 cm high water puddle on the passenger side in the footroom. The friendly one meant this is due to the processes in the engine room, if the protective grills are blocked and dirt in the drainpipe (should probably also have very small diameters) is. Then the water runs into the interior. Must be built apart (disk wiper off and cover off etc. and clear the pipe. Could be that kind of thing? There should be no connection to the interior, or? Recently, the water also gets through at the top of the handles, as though not everything can run off on the roof. That hasn’t happened to me yet with any car. Had so far only German factories. Otherwise, I’m happy with the car, but if this is a problem for many people it scares me to buy a Volvo again. Sometime it rusts from the outside. I’m grateful for your comments.

Front axle spring bends towards wheel box
Hello, I finally bought my elch after almost 400,000km new shock absorbers/springs domlager etc at the front axle. Unfortunately the feathers bend away on the side rather, see photo. The springs sit down as well as above well in the photos and the new spring has the same length and kind of turns as the old ones. Was already in several workshops, but all could confirm that it is in principle correctly installed, what is going on no one knew. Unloaded the spring is standing in the wheel box, does not spring in, and also makes no noises when driving, steers. However, I don’t get a test poster with it, and now doesn’t want to get all the components new on thoughtfully. Since someone has an idea of what can lie there? Somehow I have thought of the upper spring plates in as it is arched on both sides.
