Hello guys, I just signed up, maybe you can give me advice on my Volvo 850 Tdi. Year 96, 326 000 km, 170 000 driven by me, runs great, needs an average of about 6.4 liters of diesel and I have never had to pour oil apart from the oil changes. What worries me besides the strong soot development (when giving gas on the highway really embarrassing) starting at low temperatures. If it hadn’t been so warm in winter it would surely have been Probl But I also have to wear it for quite a long time and when it starts, a huge, stinking, white smoke cloud comes out of the exhaust. Since I bought the car five years ago, it has never jumped very well but that has deteriorated significantly lately. My question: Can the situation be improved without much effort or should I look around so slowly for a new car? Thank you and greeting CarlMichael

Volvo 850 Consulting
Good day! Please don’t stone me for this post, I’m still a layman in the topic. For several years I love the 850s and was today at my first visit after I finally got over the step to buy a buy one. I have read extensively here in the forum for the last weeks to know what I have to pay attention to during a visit. What possible cost traps can be and what could become the core scrap. I have there A long time ago here and there a 940s driven by a friend, but of course never had to deal with the repairs. I need now your help for a purchase decision, because I read everything before, could not use it properly during the inspection. It is about following Volvo HERE test drive actually ran quite well. Automatic has switched well, has only switched slightly slowly at higher acceleration. At the back some brake has squealed and in general was the braking performance not too much. Auto optics in itself also fine, only the rear side hung slightly lower, it was a small gap between the body and rear lights at the bottom. Steering wheel was not completely straight and had a small left turn, but drives straight ahead if you let go. Did then of course still take the “oil trap?” test. So after the test drive the oil rod pulled out. Did well smoke out of the engine too. Wanted then still a rubber glove over the oil opening on the engine s tülpen, but he didn’t sit tight enough to see if the bloated. Bzw was also all quite oily because some oil came out. The seller also hit a workshop for a report before: Vehicle has the following defects: Tires rear axle Deterioration Brem disks rear Tacho Kmh display without function stop buffer rear axle Both sides corission weakened impact carrier rear mileage apparently 235,000km, because Tacho meant broken he vl The speedometer has only been broken since the previous owner and there is an entry in the checkbook at 250,000km. So something is not right. He only made several oil changes. What do you think about it, nevertheless a good vehicle? Sorry the long text, would I be happy about helpful answers.

Volvo interior blower buzzes
Hello, this is my first question I ask here in the forum… I’m trying… I’ve got a Volvo 850, BJ 1996, model year 1997, 106 kW, gasoline. The interior fan recently said goodbye, called the engine ran hot and burned through. I’ve built a new fan, which was running permanently at first, I was able to fix that by replacing the pre-resistance. Now the fan is running as intended, but it is buzzing so strongly at high speed that the total e dashboard vibrates. Did I have another fan sent to me, because I thought that the fan was not well balanced, but the second fan also shows the same phenomenon. I don’t know any advice at all, is it because it is not an original Volvo fan or can something be wrong with the electronics and the fan is controlled with too high a voltage? Enjoy good advice and say thank you

Matching brake pads find front axle
Hello together I would like to order just new brake pads for my V 70. Unfortunately there are extremely many different brake pads and many different sizes. My uncle has already ordered one too large one. If the HSN/ TSN 9101/741 is specified, there are at least 10 different brake pads at A.T.U. the following are currently on it: I have written down all the numbers that are on the pads, as shown below. E1 90R – 01192/120 Textar 149201 T4136FE Can someone give me a tip like I find the right size? I don’t change the things myself that makes someone of the kinship. Best regards, Roland

Fuel pump – Help with selection of spare parts
Hello, I have a question about the fuel pump. After my car no longer sprang up, the ADAC has found that the fuel pump is broken. After talking to the ADAC and the effort of YouTube I would like to change the pump myself (do not know about car repairs, but that seems to me to be possible). Now I have looked for a spare part and first found some at Skandix for 112€ and at Amazon for 58€. But I’m thinking about the quality, so the (perhaps a little naive) question: Does it make sense to put the fuel pump on the more expensive Skandix model? So that it becomes even more complicated, I looked at kfzteile24, where I could easily pick up the part myself before Saturday. There the price range goes even further, and the price range goes even further. n 23€ to 230€. As a layman, I can’t judge what kind of pump makes sense. So, long story short: Which fuel pump should I buy best for my Volvo 850? Thank you very much!

Heatable exterior mirrors
Moin Elche. Are the heatable exterior mirrors in our Swedes individually secured..? My passenger side unfortunately does not work even after several exchanges of the mirror glass. Admittedly, it was all used “new”, but that all were in the bucket (currently six pieces) I can not imagine with the best will.. Then I will play lotto soon.. Or maybe there is another source of error that should be taken into consideration..? For relevant information, contact bi Thank you in advance, Stephan

Stopping on the side of the suction bridge flies out at acceleration.
Hello dear forum, I have a problem with my 850 T5 2,3l 166 KW. I recently flew a plug with a hose from the suction bridge. The engine made crazy noise and then went out. The plug is located, when you stand in front of the engine, on the left side of the suction bridge in the area of the thermostat housing and the servo pump. I have now found out that the hose runs behind the suction bridge and leads towards the turbocharger. There it is at the The hose looks like a vacuum hose. After the stopper has flown out several times, I would like to find the actual fault in the system. At Volvo I could not help much in this regard. After all, we managed to find and procure the right parts (stop and hose) together. At the moment I sealed stoppers with a rubber plug and returned the stopper. aut (was very easy to go in) to be mobile for the first time. But would you like to be able to step on the gas again soon. Has someone experienced something similar and can help me? is the plug only plugged in or does it have to be pressed in? I once set two pictures with. Would I be very happy about tips.

850 rear axle rubbers – what parts?
Hello, my third construction site at my 96’er 850 LW 2.5 10v is the rear axle. The friendly one near me raised him once on the stage and we looked at him from below. The good thing: engine, gearbox, steering – everything close, no game. The bad thing: the rear axle rubbers are totally over. I mean the rubber bearings in the sleeves, which one sees from the inside left and right when one stands directly under the axle. Quasi, where the Stabi goes in. There would be probably no A ring of aluminium in front of it, said the friendly one. But it was already completely gone and not to be seen any more. Game does not have the sleeve yet, but this is probably only a matter of time. I have now looked into the relevant parts catalogs, but don’t look through it. There are plenty of different ones. I have at least in memory that it makes sense here to make ALL new. Just: which ones do I need? Greeting Jens

Some questions about test drive…
Hello, I have some questions about a T5 year `94, 1.Hd., which I drove yesterday to the rehearsal. The car has run 225tkm. At 220tkm/ 3 years ago he got a new turbocharger and the last maintenance (including oil change 5w-40, timing belt change and various for almost 4,000€). Otherwise complete checkbook. Damper front and nivomates replaced about 20tkm. During the test drive the owner demonstrated the kickdown pretty soon, the oil was certainly not warm yet. 1. Can a new Turbo after 5tkm get a damage again by such a driving way? The oil level was only just over min., the oil dark. 2. I did not get the measuring rod for the automatic transmission out with force! What can this be? (new transmission 18 years ago). 3. From below the car looked quite rusty: exhaust due, bumper holder and especially the holding belts of the tank, as well as div. on the underbody. Likewise the seams of the doors in the side area bloomed. Is the norma l? Maybe the car was “pulled” in the garage? The engine otherwise ran well, had really steam. Already impressive. Otherwise I always felt that the vacuum cleaners would be enough for me but these were already worlds!!! Prices are 350€. What worries me are the above points, especially the rust. The seller seemed very sympathetic and honest. But the car was hardly moved the last 3 years and seemed a bit “dusty”. What about the car? to hold? Greetings Philipp

Servus Elchgemeinde, now I have landed after vehicles from Stuttgart and Munich so also with you Sweden A 850 2.5 20V with virgin 307000km was acquired on the Elchbuckel. This showed a considerable maintenance and partly also repair stasis with now already a lot has been processed. Now it was clear that it is a “little” thing to do, but not least thanks to the many helpful information here from the forum is as said many things already done. I hope I get the remaining little things still under control, the one thing is after a good three weeks already certainly, the moose and I have become buddies, this feeling of security and the serenity of this Swedish hoof animal (the elk) which was born after all in 1995, seems to me deep relaxing and too deeply calming, if it has to be galloped He also very quickly, backpainted with this 5 cylinder sound, go to then again to fall into cozy cruises, just beautiful. Now I have to him I think we can still take one or another kilometer under the hooves. Well, I bought the Swedes at a price for which you can not even get a new set of brand tires, madness! So I stay with best regards to the forum from the beautiful ULM
