  • Cooling water rises quickly as soon as motor is warm

Hello, have the following problem have repaired our 850er, after the water pump has eaten itself and the tooth grate is torn thereby. He has jz many new parts thus also get new valves, new head seal, and a new tooth grate set etc. However, since there are 2 different water pumps, now the wrong water pump was installed first (the riving runs then too far right). The engine was already running well. Cooling water was always in the same position also with open lid. Today the water pump is replaced so that the right one is in it. Now we suddenly have the problem that the cooling water rises abruptly if you let it run for a while. Does anyone know what that could be? The water pump that is now in it is the right one.

  • How it works Read RTI monitor and schematics…

Hello guys, I’d like to try to plant the monitor unit of the V70 RTI in my 850s and with a new display first to realize a monitor for a reversing chamber/parking aid. As far as the project is concerned. Later the thought goes to the car PC including gas system monitoring, but that’s still future music. I would like the monitor to work up when the backwater is inserted and goes down if it’s out again. It’s also a pushbutton, but only for need And there’s my problem, that I don’t get smart from the schematic for the RTI. How does the system work? How is the monitor controlled so that the monitor goes up and down under normal RTI conditions? What happens with ignition and ignition, where the screen goes up and down normally. Look forward to tips and discussion. Add the schematics to the RTI Thank you for thinking. Janko

  • 850 TDI clacks and soot

Hello dear Volvo municipality, I bought a 850 TdI with 278,000 km for the work. After I did not know exactly when it was made last tooth rim change or oil change incl. filter I first made this up. 2x timing belts, 2x water pump, rib belt incl. tensioners and all pulleys also that of the timing belt. When changing the timing belt I noticed that this had apparently slipped by a tooth at the previous owner. The diesel filter is still being exchanged So now h abe basically the same noise – a longer lasting sporadic clinker in the area of the cylinder head and when repeatedly turning up a louder clinker from the lower part of the engine, felt driving direction left. This already rusts enormously (sharp smoke). The upper charge air pressure hose was probably defective for a long time, can have formed here already so many deposits, that these dissolve when driving with a diesel additive again or is the pressure regekvetil already added the engine and also the vacuum pump are running very quietly and inconspicuously. The car was moved the last two years only 40,000 km and the last 8-10 weeks it has only stood. The old oil was already quite thick liquid. Would after 500 – 1000 km again carry out an oil change with filter, which just does not solve my noise problem.

  • Experiences V70 I Automatic

Hello together, I would have a question to the V70 – automatic fraction here recently I got a nice V70 I, 20V/170PS automatic My first automatic at all and I don’t really know what to think of his “driving and drinking culture” … Find, he is very sluggish for 170hp, except vll per kickdown, then he roars in highest tones and pulls off quite well. But I want to have to assume that to him as rarely as possible (at the moment) still a V70 switch with 144hp,with the ka nn man prima (undertourig) cruisen and if necessary also give some gas, overall he makes a much more “spritzier” impression. Especially on climbs the automatic switches the wolf, stirs up in the aisles, up – down – up, really bad, as if you just made the driver’s license 😀 If you step through the gas pedal often – nothing. No down turn, no acceleration. Consumption is already enormous … highway well loaded to camping went still: with Tempomat 1 20-130 – 8,6-9L Mix of overland and city (1/3 : 2/3) > 15L !!!! I soon fell down! How is this with yours, is it normal? Can I not imagine …. Thanks already and a nice evening to you VG schwedens

  • Tips for V70 beginners?

Hi, I’m a novice driver and have a budget of 4000€. After a few searches and clicking through forums I’m quite sure that my first car should become a V70. The 940s I originally wanted, because of not existing screw experience, I hit my head quite quickly, but I didn’t want to give up the dream of the Swedes combi. Because of the environmental badge, I currently tend to a petrol engine. A pair of reasonable-looking offers, the I have already opened up the following questions: Do you think that you can get a reasonable V70 for 4000 ticks or is that completely unrealistic? What should beginners like when buying? How complex is the technology at the V70? Can you read in and repair smaller things as laymen? And what about the availability of spare parts? I hope I am right here with my swarm of question marks… V thanks in advance for your tips!

  • Pathetic light Front lights V70I

Meal! I drove yesterday for the first time in real darkness with the black brick and thought that I only had a standlight on. THAT should be everything??? I am really spoiled by my then 850s. So as that is right now, it doesn’t work at all. That’s blind flight for advanced people! There the old T4 without work relays were not worse. I once scratched a bit in the forum and Terwi was already quite active in terms of an optimization. Ok, from that have I learned that with the OBI around the corner there are probably “White Hammer” (???) front funzeln and you can clean the scatter disks. Well. Will I retrofit/make. What does this look like with the voltage? Does this also run over the switch or is it working with work relays? Don’t find my voltage tester right now, otherwise I would measure what is still on the plug. That was with the old T4 (sorry if I always use the comparison, but I have some it through, among other things also this topic) and then the switch contacts burned down over time, which led to ever higher transition resistances. What else is there? Accessories headlights? I don’t really think about that… Prolltuning and so are not mine. Thank you already! Greeting Thomas

  • Fluctuation Cooling water level – what is normal?

Hello! An endless topic, and many threads to it, but no one satisfied me. Out of curiosity (and because I always believe what could break) I checked my cooling water level a few times now. Cold it is always somewhere between min and max. Warm after a longer motorway ride it is about one cm. over max. If you then slowly open the lid escapes hot air and the liquid level goes up, almost until it overflows. So far I see this as normal. Warm after 30 min City trip the water is usually about 1 cm above max. Today however not. Since the liquid level was just below max. I drove the same route in the city as the last days, but today with family, therefore a little softer. Is the engine through the gentler driving so much cooler or did I last days through highway ride and faster city trip the coolant “blumped up” and I have a ZKD or hair crack problem?

  • ISOFIX in Volvo 850/V70 ?

Hello, we have a child seat with the ISOFIX system and think about buying a used V70 or 850. Can someone tell me from which year this system can be retrofitted or belongs to the serial equipment? Listen to very contradictory statements. Thank you!

  • Your assessment: 850 as a daily driver?

Hello, my V70 II has gone away from me. And now I’m looking for a new one, but I’m also wondering if I should take the opportunity to look for a 850er. Because I’ve always found it “toller” because of the beautiful square front. The question is: can you drive a 850 as a daily driver, and that’s just as carefree as a V70 II? I’ve driven the V70 II several ten thousand kilometers a year, also often fast, i.e. 160-180 km/h. Or do you have to say, that today a 850 is rather a hobby or lover car, but nothing you can “rely” on? Thank you!
