  • Question of conscience: Purchase of a V50 from “rental car return”?

    Hello are considering whether we can buy a V50 D2 (first registration 03.2011; approx. 20000km) with good equipment and good price from a larger car dealer or rather leave our fingers off it. Problem1: Vehicle comes from car rental company (eurocars); Problem 2: Vehicle probably has a fall/track problem at the front left: tires on the outside very badly driven. Fixing the latter could still be agreed within the scope of the purchase (incl. new tire?). However, the past of the car can no longer be eliminated. The car would have a quiet life here (throughout 10,000 km/year with reserved driving). How would you decide?

  • Clashing coupling

    Hello, I’ve been driving a V50 D2, built in 2011 with around 25,000 km of mileage since a few weeks. Up to one point I’m completely satisfied with the vehicle: I’ve also noticed this well-known “crack” during gear change or load change. Here in the forum there are already some posts about it, which I have already read carefully. However, various tips were given. Adhesive the drive shafts (which is probably quite controversial), special grease up to the replacement of the clutch or even the gearbox. The posts are mostly already a bit older, so I would be interested in whether there are new experiences/solutions to this. I’m a little surprised, because the problem with Volvo is obviously already known for some years, and an almost new vehicle still has to struggle with the problem. Another small thing happened to me: If I turn the lock from position II to III to start the engine, then I can immediately go back to position II, because the starter is always busy until the engine jumps. Sometimes it comes to the starter.

  • C30 LED daytime running light for older models

    Hello I would like to replace my fog lights with the LED Daylight Kit (Part. No. 31330688,31330689) which should not be a problem, only that the kit is for the new models.   • Diesel or gasoline?

    Evening, I might like to buy a C70 for the summer. The question is only if it is to become the 5 cylinder gasoline with 220 hp or the 5 cylinder diesel with 179 hp. Which engine is stronger and is better suited for overtaking maneuvers. Drive in summer about 12,000km only long distance (Friday 230km, Sunday 230km over land and AB).   • Repairing Outer Mirrors

    now I have parked at my home on the street and already is idiot on my mirror hangs and drives away! I can get upset again. what do you think of the cost of the part? is the exchange a bigger action? I think there is only the black plastic ring broken.

  • “Pooled” on/in the roof?

    At my S40 there is a lot of polter on the roof or on the roof of the car. At first I thought that I would have liked something on the roof, but it comes regularly at least 1x per ride. Mostly after about 10 minutes the first time. I assume that there is pressure somewhere (heaven / roof), which triggers some such effect ?! Had a half-dead Opel Vectra on loan years ago, the roof on the AB barked out again, that sounded so similar (of course much louder). Does anyone have an idea ??! Greetings $id

  • Would you buy a Volvo V50 again ???

    I’ve been driving my third Volvo for three years and I’m very happy with my car dealership and my V50. Now I wonder if it makes sense to buy the same Volvo again at all!   • BLIS in urban traffic – error messages and problems

    Hey, I wanted to talk to the other BLIS drivers among us. My BLIS doesn’t seem to get along super well with city traffic and sometimes gets annoyed. It comes to the following errors: 1.) Warning right after the start: BLIS: Maintenance required The LEDs and cameras work completely normal, however, as always. BLIS restarting in this case does not bring anything, the message remains. However, if I restart the car, the error message is gone. That happens once every 2 weeks. 2.) BLIS: Camera blocked, corresponding LED flashes This is the most annoying thing about the system. In the dense traffic this message comes several times on my daily routes. Last week the system shot down the bird and played crazy 4 times (!!) on 18km city traffic – sometimes right, sometimes left. Here are several possibilities: a) car restart, BLIS initia It’s new and the error is gone b) let it flash for about 30 seconds, which unfortunately distracts enormously until the camera realizes that it’s not blocked and continues to work normally c) turn off BLIS. If you start it again, the LED flashes but cheerfully on – then you have to wait as with b) until the electronics calm down themselves. I usually only know one with BLIS, but it doesn’t drive in city traffic as I did and had the warning “BLIS maintenance required” never before. Does another BLIS driver know something about this? I am therefore a bit on the foot of the war with BLIS – it is hardly to be used in daylight, because the LEDs are too dark and do not sit in the mirror, as for example with Mercedes, where you always look. In the city it generally brings very little (but is sometimes really helpful), but always I don’t want to turn it off – rarely there are moments where BLIS is helpful. However, I will never fix anything on the system, daf it’s just too expensive with too little use for me. But if there are software updates or little tricks, I’d love to hear them…

Conversations with fellow sufferers: Yes, they are always so un-culant, quite unlike other brands (where the same technology is used), where even after years of material defects in the area of hydraulic cover is repaired free of charge. I got a vehicle that used to be in the dealer’s showroom, now running as a workshop car and I always liked it (!!!): color: strange white/grey with brown bodykit, 18″ anthracite wheels –> a chic car with a sexy back. stylish really on my wavelength. as motorization the a 2.0 gasoline with 145 horses. well, I thought, that’s enough for sure. but blow cake: I drive every day to work about 50 km, mostly autobahn (a20), which is usually also good free in the area. but, oh terrifying, at a speed of 150 the box became tough as youth leather. since then still to speed up (must be with the thriving handworkers [t4, vito, sprinter etc.] more often) was a gray. despite switching down – every golf 1,9 pd trecker leathered me without problems. no – i provoke no race – they drove so by me. that on the one hand – on the other hand I fell from the belief: the consumption in the “act. consumption”- display at a constant 150 km/h was there a 13 !!! – the car arranged there also at approx. 4000 u/min in the 5th course.
