    According to media reports, Chinese car manufacturer Chery is considering a takeover of the renowned competitor Volvo. The business magazine Caijing wrote on Monday that the Chinese riser had contacted banks and other potential investors for a takeover of the Swedish company from the defeated US company Ford. The costs could be more than three billion euros. Well, the quality will not improve in the opposite way!!!!

  • Replacements S40/S60 and V50

    Dear Volvo fans, I have just found the following hints on the Swedish Auto-Motor-Sport pages: http://www.automotorsport.se/nyhetsmall.asp?version=76785 As it looks like, the successor of the S60 will be on the market about 2009/2010. The combined version will be the V50 and thus follow the same logic as that of the S80/V70. A model “S40” will probably not exist any more. The pictures of the S60 look very promising and follow the design elements of the current XC60. The picture of the V50 looks even more like computer mounting. I’m curious if I can exchange my V50 for the S60 combi (V50) in two years’ time… If you have any further hints, these would be exciting.

  • Bye V50 T5

    After three years, the leasing contract of my V50 T5 finally expires. And I have to admit that I am happy about it. Although I still like the look as before, otherwise I’m not very happy. Especially the chassis (according to my order a sports suspension) and the brakes were – let’s say – used to. The front wheel drive is also overwhelmed with the 220 hp and a true profile eater. Well, that goes on my cap, I should have ordered all-wheel drive. In addition, some technical defects caused annoyance. These affected, for example, the turbo hose, the starter (since I always have a small hammer with it), the CD player, the servo pump and as I said, time and again the brakes. The latter annoyed especially. In average all 15,000 kilometers the brakes began to rat and flutter, so that it was no fun to move the car even more quickly. Conclusion: That was my first and thus also my last Volvo. I am now getting back on a pass with an impressive key wheel of 300, standing.

  • Volvo V 50 D5 R Design – Navi ?

    Hello everyone, I’ve been a Volvo V40 T4 driver for 5 years and despite one or the other small breakdown, I’m still thrilled by Volvo. Two weeks ago I ordered a V50 D5 R design with almost complete equipment except leather, NAVI and a few small things. But for two days I’ve been thinking if I should order the Navi, but I’m not quite convinced because it looks a lot better with other manufacturers in the center console as with Volvo and my Mobile Navi is still doing it at the moment. With Volvo it doesn’t look so great (my opinion ) or are you different opinion? What do you have for experience, Loht the investment? I did the test drive at a V50 without Navi therefore I don’t know what it looks like in real.

    hey people, my oma just has a s40 1,6d (bj 05 summum 22 000km), but now would like to have a c30. what kind of equipment can you recommend (probably a summum again)? what is there for useful additional equipment (the same as the s40/v50 also?) ? what is there to criticize about the car and what is positive? and what kind of engine would you recommend? vllt. the 2,0d? and what will be all new/different for the model year 2009? from when can you order my09 and how long would the delivery period be? generally a new car or even a used one? thank you gruß thomas

    I would be interested to know what you have to pay for the inspections on your V50? With my wife driving a Peugeot 206, the 20000km inspection cost a total of €185. Is this possible with the V50?

  • defective air conditioning???

    Hi people, have a problem, maybe someone can help me. So I got my V50 to the air conditioning service about 1.5 months ago, because my air conditioning system didn’t work properly anymore. There 530g of the air conditioning was filled up (or exchanged???). (Stand at least on the sticker I found in the engine room today) At the beginning (1.5 months ago) the air conditioning worked very well. Now only warm air comes up. What else I noticed is this; if I press the button for the air conditioning automatic (the big round) then the air conditioning automatic can no longer be switched off (the small green light does not go out). If I turn to the big button then the blower speed can be regulated quite normally. Can the air conditioning no longer be because something is leaking or is a software error? Would you be great if you could help me because I would like to go on vacation soon. (with working climate :-D) lg Jan

  • the uncanny cases of V….or Volvo’s file X

    Every car has its weaknesses, strengths, problems and peculiarities. I would like to pick up the latter. Particularities, peculiarities etc.. to say the file x of our Volvos like this. I noticed with my V50 1.6d e.g., 1. that the speed goes once deep into the cellar when braking before it settles in the stand gas 2. that, if you only let the rear windows down during the ride, a very low frequency “blubbern” arises. If you have also noticed such “akteX” moderate things or you can perhaps also contribute to the clarification of such “specialities” – please. I would like to go.

  • too much oil filled in at the time of inspection ?

    I took my car from the inspection today and had brought my oil with me.When I wanted to take the oil container out of the trunk I noticed how little residual oil is still in it.I guess about 200-300ml. The filling quantity at 2.0 is 4.3L. Did the car then leave about an hour on flat surface and then draw the oil measuring rod. Soooo….the measuring range on the oil rod are these 2 small markings (stitches) at the milled end of the oil rod (so not the milling itself) ?? After several measurements the oil has turned out to be about 5mm above the upper marking. How dangerous is this for the engine? I will definitely report myself again tomorrow at the end of the oil rod however many of you also have an opinion about it. As a small prehistory I want to add that I have sensitized because the same thing happened already with my predecessor car (Opel Astra G) and I have not been able to use it since then.
