  • Alarm system / immobiliser

    My LED (reminder) had not lit up until now. Last time in the service I criticized this and a software adjustment was made and now it flashes. (Probably my predecessor has deactivated it) In addition, the Garagist told me that the alarm system was disabled and is now switched on again. It was new to me that my V40 T2 (Bj 99) has an alarm system. How can I find out? What I know for sure that my Volvo has Deadlock. The Garagist could do not give me any further information about the alarm system, except that you start raising the car.?.? How do I test whether the alarm system really works, or, is there?   • Help! Have new double headlights and no idea of the connections?

    Hello, am the newest one here in the forum, but read it for quite a while and find it great. I read some reports about double headlights and thought “I’m already good” but now the things are in front of me and I don’t know what to do. So installation will somehow work out but connections I don’t have a plan.I’ve already looked at all the links in the forum but don’t understand that. Maybe there’s someone here who can help me. As an attachment I add two pictures, once my old Sche inwerfer and the new one. With the old one the standlight has two cables and the main bulb 3 cables, next to it is a quadrangular plug with three cables, what is that for? I ordered the new headlight with 5 pole connection see picture because I thought two plus three cables equal to 5, but now there is still the said quadrangular plug with three cables???? Can someone maybe tell me how to connect this?

  • Volvo V40 Handbrake Change receipts

    Hello, Volvo V40. Disc brake at the rear with integrated hand brake to install the new documents which has pressed the brake piston back by means of a reset. Principle: pressing the brake piston and screwing the brake piston in. Is there now a prescribed order after the installation of the new documents to drive the pistons back to the receipts and discs? I have repeatedly pressed the levers of the hand brake back and forth. Thus, the pistons have moved out piece by piece until they reach the Bel ege pressed firmly to the discs when pressing the hand brake lever. No pump was needed for the foot brake anymore, the brake responded immediately. Thank you for an answer mfg

  • V40 1.8 of 98 tensioning roller completely broken out

    Moin Together, more often something new. I bought the V 40 since March, 1.8 automatic, for small money, did a lot and now that. This morning after about 1km drive it made short Klock, battery warning lamp, no servo support anymore. Stopped, looked after, ribbed belt broken. Back home, removed, measured, ordered. So far so good. Just wanted to look how I have to install the exactly….where is the tensioner? It was on the lower engine cover. How do I solve the I used to hang pictures, I can’t take pictures directly, the mirror had to come here. I hope you can see enough.

    The warning flash switch is a component of this series, which doesn’t exactly shine with fitness. Replaced a few years ago by a new one, because the snap mechanism didn’t work anymore. Well, just a few days ago the fucking switch – and you hear and marvel – made itself independent after setting off, flashed all night in front of it and in the morning the battery was empty, so empty that not even the locking system worked. After charging the battery, goes the turn signal only with permanent light. I assume that the turn signal relay was also worn out. Has anyone ever done this before? Or does anyone know about it?

  • Mega problems with winter tires – server spins

    Hello, I am in the Harz and have a real problem with my winter tires. We have about 30cm snow here, the temperatures are below zero. The parking lot on which I stand is behind the house and there you can only get over a single driveway. This is to all evil estimated 12% steep and approximately 10m long. Now come on: I can not get this crazy driveway up again. I get it shortly before the end, then it’s not possible anymore and I have to drive carefully down again (rut No way out here. But the winter tyres still have a reasonably good profile (over 5mm) and still they are constantly going crazy. I have a 2.0T and try to give it as carefully as possible. Only with snow chains I can overcome the exit, but I still have this problem that I have a sports suspension. So the car is very deep and it is damn little space when the chains are on the wheels… If the V40 is generally easy too heavy, it has too much to v iel PS or am I just too stupid? Help!   • Luminous range control

    Hello, someone can tell me where the actuators for the headlight adjustment are to be found at the V40 (Bj. 12/98). Supposedly (according to Volvo workshop) both should be defective at my car; when I wanted to find out about repair in a free workshop today, the mechanic looked up and found that there is no actuator or similar installed on the headlight. For comparison he also showed me the changed headlights of a 440, which he repaired the week before. Only the two mechanical adjustment options per headlight were available with my V40. Could this be due to the level control or is it possible that the adjustment option is accommodated elsewhere? Or should the Volvo workshop possibly have put me on my arm?   • S40 T4 Bj.97 – ESP error, engine jerking

    Hello guys. I bought a Volvo S40 T4 a few days ago and I have a few small defects. One of them is that the ESP light is on after starting and does not run out any more. According to the previous owner it should be on the front left – try to let the computer read out today, then I might know more. Other problem is that I can only turn up to 5,000 rpm. If I continue to speed up, it starts to jump like an “ELCH” :O). But no engine malfunction lamp or something like that. I have already thought that it might be on the spur, the previous owner has always filled 95ers, but according to the tank lid has to enter 98ers. Did one of you have the same problem? And can I possibly give a little hint about what it can be? I also thought that the engine might go in emergency run, because the DSA is constantly lit, but the performance is actually there.
