Hello. Since yesterday I am proud owner of a Volvo V40 (1998, 1,8l, automatic). I have a few questions to the experts : – I am in possession of two normal keys. Can I retrofit a remote radio control? Or did the Volvo normally have a radio ZV on board as standard? – What have the buttons S and W on itself? – My tailgate is not locked when closing. I had the cover down and took a photo of the mechanics. It looks to me as if something has broken down. Besides, it is strange that I can not unlock the lock with the key. It can’t be turned. I once hung two pictures as an attachment. – When I hit full left and right I hear so knarz noises from the front axle? Your tip? I suspect the drive shafts. That was for the first time. I drove 60km with the Volvo so far. I moved the last 18 months a Hyundai XG30 V6. There are already + worlds between. However, I don’t believe the Volvo and its consumptions help.

Cooler fan doesn’t start!
Hello Volvo driver! My V40 2.0A Mj 2003 refuses to have a cool head or cool engine since today. The reason was quickly revealed, the radiator fan doesn’t turn any more. The broken 30A fuse was also found quickly, since no other was at hand I simply put the window lifter in the slot of the radiator fan and the engine sometimes carefully driven. As far as good, but the temperature was reached where the fan should rotate was briefly everything a little darker, a noticeable (small) ruck was to be noted and…..nix! No cooler fan, no really tempered engine and ….. right now also no window lifter anymore because the replacement used fuse for this was of course also meier (likenerical dialect expression for broken) . At least now I know that the cheapest solution of my problem can be excluded – namely a broken fuse – which has done its job and the car saved from a brutal electrical collapse. I typed on the engine of the cooler fan for a good time? I can see the troubleshooting of the bugs of my component!

Volvo V40 1.8 Shifting bushings/gear belt change
Hallöchen, I am proud owner of a Volvo V40 1.8 since today, very relaxed driving, and especially the leather seats, bomb-like in combination with seat heating! Now to my actual question/problem, and indeed the sockets are closed off from the switchbar, which is why the 1., 5. and the backward gear are bad or not at all put in. I found instructions for changing already in the forum, I am only concerned about the spare parts procurement, because the next Volvo dealer is about 50KM, easy ride, away. I have been looking for original equipment on the Internet, but I have not really found anything, and wanted to ask for advice about spare parts of Polar Parts or Skandix whether there are experiences with it, or if you can call me a first outfitter. The second problem would be the upcoming zam belt change which is imminent and has already been covered by 5tkm, but the belt is still not porous and the teeth look good, yet it is due after 120tkm. Would be a tooth belt, WaPu, spanning rolls etc.

Castrol Magnatec 5w-40 c3. Right for my Volvo V40??
Hello dear people, have a problem. Drive my Volvo V40 1.8 bj 2003 with the Castrol Magnatec 5w-40 with the release ACEA A3. Now Castrol has changed the release of the oil from ACEA A3/B4 to ACEA C3. My question: Can I continue to use this oil even if Volvo requires an ACEA A1/A3 engine oil on my engine? According to research, an ACEA C3 oil is suitable for gasoline and diesel engines and has the same characteristics as the ACEA A3 oil. See http://www.auto-motor-oel.de/…/#ACEA-Classen Thank you in advance.

lack of performance after short service life
Tomorrow dear community! For about a month I have had the following problem with my Volvo V 40, 1.8 l, 122 hp, petrol, switch, 265 tkm: When I start the car after a short service life (refuel or similar), the engine runs unround and has no power. After some “15-20” km there is sometimes a short jerk and everything in the lot sometimes even after a long service life. This error does not always occur but it annoys. So first to the friendly (good self-help workshop for 15 years my choice):read out: Error Cylinder 1 Then we looked at the ignition cables and at one time a spark hit the engine through ______All changed !! Problem continued! Then the ignition coils were switched further available! Then we sent in the engine control unit and had it checked:Everything in order!!!!? Problem continued! Tip from the people who have examined the control unit: Injection nozzles!!! Injection nozzles continued to change problem! Ratlose on the whole line has been a pity for me?

Hello together, I’m just looking for a station wagon and I’m stuck with this one here:http://suche.mobile.de/…/176133034.html?… Reads so far quite well, I thought and I drove there. The car makes a really good impression throughout. As described. TÜV was passed a week ago without defects. TÜV report I have seen. But now I have a mistake behind me and hope that you can save me from the 2nd. What do you think about it? Already many thanks

End pot V40 2.0T (Bj 99), type and diameter
Hello dear people, I have recently torn off the pot at my 2.0t (just behind the flange to the medium pot) and now I’m looking for a cheap replacement. I have over 200tkm on it and want to drive the cart for 2-3 years, so it doesn’t need any qualitative orgies in this regard. on ebay I found something, which looks really damn cheap:http://www.ebay.at/itm/36107989034?… only the same looks to me as the endpot of the small gasoline, although according to the description for the motor with 118kw is. the engine code is also wrong according to the description, because the one of the t4 is I think. as far as I know loud forum the exhaust systems are indeed at the 2.0t and t4, so that would not be a problem. I only have to worry that the wrong one is assigned and the diameter is smaller than the one of the 2.0t. can help me there? I really have been trying to find them forever… should you screw so cheaply at it?

Supposedly rusted gear cover???
Hello I’m quite new here and have been driving my old Swede for 6 years now. V40 2.0 Bj 96, benziner. Tüv I had last in mai, and then after a totally senseless handbrake repair I got through without defects. Only because of the not completely loosening handbrake I failed for years and after the new brake saddle etc. it is now still from time to time… Will I then in 2 years at the next Tüv be in need… But my problem is another: So when I had my winter bikes put on in another workshop two weeks ago, the car mechanic told me that my gear cover would have rusted through… It was also around the gear, at the place he showed me some oil, oil puddles or stains but still none found in my parking lot? And I think that the old cover still has to be rusted through yet the Tüv I have seen it and told myself, which rusts not in a few months? Couldn’t it be the same thing to me as the girl?

Volvo V40 engine clamps
Hello, I have been in possession of a Volvo V40 Bj. 1998 with an engine mileage of approx. 310tkm. Tuesday morning I was still about 100 KM with the car, partly highway with a maximum speed of max. 120. Tuesday afternoon I start the car as usual and after just under 2 minutes running time in idle I hear a short metallic noise and the engine blocked. The engine can neither be moved over the starter nor over a inserted gear. The car home and engine cladding and timing belt lid removed. The assumption that the timing belt has been torn has not been confirmed. With a large screwdriver it was possible for me to move the camshafts over the belt wheels in both directions by a few millimeters. In a further attempt the car started immediately, under a partial load the engine holds its speed with an enormous noise background, in the stationary gas the engine blocks immediately again and can no longer be rotated. For further analysis I ask myself two questions: – If it would not be possible that a defective water pump causes the engine to block it, however, I will not be able to rule out one of the other teeth.
