  • Engine goes off in stand and sporadically no power

Hello together… I’ve been having an annoying problem for a few weeks now. And when I’m on the road normally, my V40 has some sporadically the problem that it suddenly goes off when I’m idle. BUT as long as I’m roll and over 30 kmh it stays on. Only below it goes out, I say, while driving the clutch, it goes quietly into idle. If I come to a traffic light and brake then it goes from so below about 30 kmh. Strangely I know that I also noticed that if he has his “phase”, he also has no more power… Ich möglich das möglich? So rattern does the thing now for more than a year… Actually only in idle run… The noise is a bit more irregular in the last time and partly it has to do with the variable camshaft adjustment.

  • Volvo v40 phase I

Hello. I am thinking about whether I am electric window lifter and electr. Adjustable mirrors retrofit. Does anyone know if the cables or plugs are already in place for this? Have the v40 bj.96 1.8 petrol 16v. Thanks Greeting

  • Volvo S40 T4 -strange sounds from the engine

Hello, can anyone tell me what’s wrong with the engine.https://youtu.be/NX-cETm5-NI I’ve been to the Volvo dealership twice, but they couldn’t really tell me where this “blechner” noise comes from. The clutch excluded them. The defective camshaft sounds somehow different? This noise is also not regularly/permanent to hear. Otherwise, you don’t notice anything about it when driving. No error is shown either. I’m really desperate.

  • What’s that?

Hello together. Due to idle problems I am currently finding the causes and first replace the vacuum hoses. I came across a component (possibly solenoid valve) whose function is not known to me.. In the appendix a picture about it… The component sits on the cooler on the top right when you stand in front of the car. A vacuum hose and a plug goes on it. And it always clacks quite often. If you hold your finger on it, you can also feel it. Thanks for your help.

  • Windscreen washing system does not work at the front, but at the rear

Moin Together, the little one annoys me again. Slice washer is not working, just in front, I noticed now, driving little and rarely. The pump was often not working, but always when I pulled off the plug at the front of the wiper container and put it on again, it went again. Now, I went under the car again, the same procedure as always, but nothing…. But at the back the washer is going, so it is on the lever. Steering wheel lining down and wiper levers removed, opened and cleaned. In the lever is a small white plastic cylinder, which presses on a copper flag and thus creates contact for the windscreen washing system in front. Did I also test this, it clicks when I place the contact, but at the front no water comes out, only behind. Are there 2 pumps in there? You can hear that click on the steering wheel, but the pump at the front does not run. When I operate at the rear I hear the pump in front. Do I go wrong? For the upcoming season is really stupid without washing water. Suggestions? Thanks V40, 115PS, automatic from 1998 with 271000km

  • Construction of new engine

But if I had had a new engine block here, which is new, has been stored and also got new piston rings… but this has the head WITHOUT camshaft adjuster, so probably up engine number. I have a motor from engine number. With a head with the camshaft adjuster. That’s interesting, until engine number and from engine number are installed various two-mass flywheels. Think that I then also need a new flywheel and Kupplug…. Why, I now make such a head — my engine has got a new planned head, because exhaust gas in the cooling water. Has now still exhaust gas in the cooling water. Either the turbo is so broken that it pushes exhaust gas into cooling water, or the head is defective… Or what I can rule out is that the running wheels have a haircut… then he would have had to start the cold condition bad before, and should have had no empty run again. Of course I still got the “ventil cover” again installed in the cold condition.

  • Differences cylinder head 2 liter turbo, head gasket defective?

Hello once a question to the experts.. Is there any difference in the cylinder heads with the 2.0 liter turbo motors with variable camshaft adjustment? I bought a head with varialber camshaft adjustment from a Volvo S40 Bj 2002 about half a year ago.. (If I wanted to build up a completely new engine) I bought it for it… Now I have the problem that I have quite high pressure in the cooling water, and I have exhaust gas in the cooling water.. As if the head gasket was due to cold water loss at the moment not…Can it be the Vll of the turbo somehow push exhaust gas into the cooling water… Did I have this head gasket new before 60,000km, but I don’t have the head plan now, if I can change the head gasket directly, I have disassembled it today and found that this NO hydropunch has but normal cup puncture in the various versions…Will have had this head plan before the reparatur, so I have to put it on the head gasket right now, without the others to make everything clean up to the tool… Can it be the T2 with the T2?

  • Mileage

Hi everyone, wanted to hear if there are real kilometer eaters with the V40 riders here. Post your mileage-the Fred out of the search is already so old. I start. V40 1,8 Mod. 2001 KM: 115,000-so just drove in 🙂 PI-DD

  • Does the wheel bearing have to be new at the front when it has game?

Hello. Both wheel bearings in the front have some game, now I was in the workshop and they said the bearings had to be new. He did not want to tighten the drive shaft screw any further, because he was afraid that he would damage more. Do they have to be new just because they have game? Or is it more likely that they didn’t really screw it up at the time? No noises do them. But the tuv is objected to the game. Greeting Achim

  • funny engine noise

good day.I’ve had a rhythmic motor noise in the distance of 1-2 seconds since about 1 week. the noise is not always there. one day it’s there and then again it’s not. what can that be? it seems to me as if the noise comes from the 1st cylinder on the gear. does the volvo have a valve control or something like that?
