Good evening! We had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time! I had to wait for the good time to get a drink in the supermarket! at the start of the good time, the bad time was a big white smoke cloud in the sky, but I didn’t think about it, because the bad time was a few times, so I was happy to go on the first pass, without any further problems! then I went straight up the next mountain! after about 5 km on the second mountain I didn’t get on the fast track and I didn’t notice a little bit of it again.

Engine damage in V40 1.8 !!
Good evening, everyone! My father drives a V 40 1.8i with 122 hp, built in 2000 even before the facelift. (If I really read this you call this phase 1). The car has a good 130 TKM on the clock, was always good at Volvo in the inspection, had recently (before approx. 2-3 TKM) due to holiday time an extra-planned oil change with filter. Also with Volvo. On Friday the car on the highway suddenly had a power drop, rattled and rattled quietly but audible ahead and then went out on the next rest site a few km further. Read also not to start. No warning lamp has reported anything. Diagnosis of the ADAC: oil rod dust dry, 2 liters (!!!) oil refilled, track rod still still dry! The car has never lost oil and the engine is also now completely clean! Yes where eats then, the many good 0W40 ? Does this happen more often? Is the engine known for such things? Was there any call back for the model?

V40 Tank?? Amazing…
Hello guys, so I already think that I know myself as an old volvo hase well with the boxes, also with the V40. But now he has really faded me, I managed to drive my car a few days ago nice long with the reserve, I think it was so 60 km, when I find a tank. So I nice the super plus run and it actually went 62.5 liters in my tank!! The loud instruction only gets 60 liters. Ok the fills was up to the top full, but incredible that the car even with the last drop from the fuelilter can drive still without jerking. Did you have similar experiences or was at the tank the counter “getunt” ;O) By the way, I calculated my consumption, which is at my T4 with ingenious 9.1 liters at normal driving mode. Elchige greets, Sven

Start problems at low temperatures
a dreamlike, my Volvo V40 from 1998 with 1.8 benziner with ‘ner Prins bin Gasanlage’ has been on strike for a few weeks. to the current situation. during the day 25 °C and it starts 5 times without mucking without problem. now in the evening with 12 °C he strikes again… the same two weeks ago in the middle of the night at cold he does not want to go with start aid anymore, to that again a week before on work at 20 ° approx. he does not want any more and start aid also does not bring anything and we had to push. I have to say, battery is almost new and full, light engine brings still 13.6 V, spark plugs have been made again last summer. Starter spins also. At first I thought it was on the main relay what lies in front of the control unit, because the ADAC had previously read the error: “control unit gets sub-range” but also has no effect on the new relay. Today at noon I have changed the fuel pressure regulator because I had the assumption that this problem, but he still doesn’t want to sit by now whether the head can’t have any sensor control of the mixture or not have a fat temperature.

Renewing fenders?
Tach, had to find out today during tyre change that the fender at the front right already has a big hole, the rear car jacks have a little rusting on each side also, but that is another construction site. I was already aware at the time of purchase, that the fenders at some point have rusted through, since these already had rust bubbles under the varnish, now I am not sure, whether it is worth replacing it at all, especially, which are the right ones, since there are several variants, however, mine a “mixing”, built 27.03.2000, first registration 19.01.2001. Car currently has 227,700km on the clock, engine runs well, except for about 0.5L oil/3000km. Mfg. Edit: the last two pictures were taken in summer 2015.

Volvo V40 boot lock ( tailgate ) do not lock
Hello! Have bought a V40 Kombi built in 1999. Had to find out that the central locking the trunk does not lock that means the trunk can be opened even if the central locking. Therefore I ordered the lock again (not cylinder) When I changed I had to find that left cables were removed at the lock and was insulated with adhesive tape. Now I have it connected again. The head office now goes when I close out immediately again. When I have put everything back in original condition now the lock of the tailgate is not locked anymore! What do I have to do? Help

Airbag control device defecates because battery was jammed?
Moin an alle! Zum Elch: v40 bj 2004 Gasoline 1,8. Zu meine Problem: My airbag light always starts once a year. For the TÜV I always had the error memory deleted and good. It was always on the plug from the passenger seat.. This time the workshop told me that there are three faults (also the plug) which can not be deleted any more. Nu said the mechanic, that the control unit is defective, that can lie on it that I had once disconnected the battery. What do you say, can it be? New device probably costs 1000€. That can not be anything, or what do you say? Be very happy about tips and experiences of you.

Tank return at the fuel filter
Dear Forenmen, with my v40 (2004) a petrol line, on the small T-piece, that is located shortly after the fuel filter near the left rear axle, was dissolved. The petrol line seems to be forking there, whereby a line transports the fuel further towards the engine compartment and a second line leads back to the tank. This little connector was probably already repaired by the previous owner with hot glue and has now completely goodbye. Today I was with a very lively mechanic who in a 5-minute action connected the line, which runs from the fuel filter, directly with the line leading to the engine compartment. However, without connecting the return to the tank. He said that you can leave it that way. Then I called to a free Volvo workshop, which put the same solution to my heart. The car now seems to drive normally but in my amateurness this seems somewhat strange to me. What is the use of the return to the tank and what are the consequences if you use the car without this connection? Many thanks for good answers!

The TÜV and the S/V 40
Asterix inspired me on this topic. What was your last complaint with the TÜV? With information about the model and the year of construction. As I said before, my 2001 2.0T was last the cuffs with the steering gear. However, US “safety inspection”. One murmurs that they do not look so closely at here. I say this way, one pays attention to the really important things here. A rusted fender is not a topic. One could drive safely even without the one. As long as one can still secure the turn signaler. But this should not become the topic here. It is only about the TÜV in Germany.
