  • “Flatting” sound while taking gas

Hello, once again my S40, 1.8 116hp 1996, with an interesting noise: when taking gas and also in the stationary gas one hears an even fluttering noise, which sounds like this: https://soundcorset.com/r/7r2v6CkUcc Apart from a very low stand-up gas (about 500 revolutions about 550-600) nothing else strikes me. Power is normal, gas acceptance and consumption too. Can one say from the noise whether this comes rather from engine range (sucking in?) or exhaust system? Exhaust system from Kat (including Kat) was renewed 3 months ago, but since then have had isolated ignition oscillations due to defective ignition cables (really very isolated, I think/hope they did nothing to the cat :P). Thanks in advance ^^

  • 2.0er 100kw with ethanol-mixture

moin, did any of you experiment with ethanol? I would be interested in how much I can contribute without changing the motor/controller. to take the wind out of the sails from the opponent: of course, all this is at your own risk and everyone must know what he is doing. therefore, please do not have any basic discussions and unresolved assumptions. nor about the fact that in 3rd world countries people have to starve because fuel is being grown! I am interested in it technically and I would only mix ethanol, which remains as a waste “other” for local farmers.

  • Foam in oil !?!?!?!? why

Servus Elch-elite Ivh got a V40 BJ.10/97 with approx. 220450km and that without a test. But I’ve had some foam in the engine oil for quite some time (see picture1) I put in mud flushing and then I drove well (caa.200km) – the oil incl. filter I wilted and it all right now, for about 4 months the same thing is again. I can’t change everything 5000-7000km the oil. Who knows about it? and who has experience me this? On the 2nd picture I only filled about 50 ml! I also looked, there is NO cooling water in the engine room. maybe one can thank me for what I can do against it.

  • Repair the grille yourself!

So dear Elche! There is V40, which have a radiator grill with Volvo emblem, which is not quite crooked. But has a gray matte paint. In winter, where it was very cold, plastic has the property to break quickly. The bonnet is open, you make it carefully, grabs into the radiator grille and booms break off individual lamellas. A new radiator grill costs here in Slovakia from 60 euros, with the friendly one even more. What did I do: I sort myself in a building shop (Maxbar, Baumaxe etc.) a relative thin plastic strip and a gluer of 2 fabrics ( Resin and Hardener). Glue time max. 5 min. from UHU. The plastic strip is cut too correctly, also filing and without glue fitted. Then glue together from glue and use the missing lamella with glue. Until then, I have to make a nice again, so 5-20 minutes. You can make it on the car, then you should sit on a chair, because it takes a glue hard. Or to expand the cooler from the basement to the cooler. Then the paint has to be expanded.

  • Lighting Automatic air conditioning failure (V40 PhII, Mj ’04)

Hello Today I have seen that the controller for the blower strength and the two buttons below (seat heating & AC) are no longer illuminated. Unfortunately, the search function has only spewed out information for PhI. Can anyone give me a completely beginner-friendly guide for changing the pears? You know, I have two left hands… The lamp is only available at the , right? Thank you for your help!

  • Wheel pins

Hello everyone, I just ripped off a wheel bolt when changing tyres. Can anyone tell me how I can renew it,or is it complicated? Have ordered a replacement bolt from Volvo, lasts 3 days until delivery 2.75 euro the piece, remains only the replacement. Do I have to dismantle brake caliper and disc to change the bolt? Volvo has said, the bolt is pressed out and back in? Thanks for an answer Michael Volvo V40 1,8ltr. 2001

  • Stand gas spins / motor control unit ?

My V40 2L Turbo built in 2002 has the problem that it often runs out in idle. If you turn it on, you have to wait for a few seconds and watch how the stationary gas settles in. First it is over 1000 u, then it falls off until shortly before, then it goes up to a normal measure at about 700 u again and stays there. If you do not wait for this procedure every time and starts immediately, you can assume that it runs out of the next idle. That’s annoying because you are used to turn on and start driving. Can it be that the engine control unit has lost the long-term memory (Alzheimer/Dementium)? Besides, the central locking only goes with the key into the driver’s door lock. Neither the radio nor the button in the interior solve the ZV. Can it all have to do with the engine control unit or, someone knows what comes into question? The workshop of my trust has first waved off and I said to the Volvo dealer. I would like to get some tips first.

  • V40-Phase I – Rear side handlebars Detached at the bottom left – Remeasured track?

Servus together, I would have a question for you: I changed my dampers and springs today. As far as possible. Unfortunately, the screw from the damper was so fixed that I did not get it out so easily. So, I removed the damper with the lower crossbar and then further worked on the vice. After that, the crossbar is mounted again – dampers and springs come to it tomorrow. Now, after I had removed the “lower” crossbar, I have to have the track adjusted? I’m not so sure about that right now! I would be grateful about an answer! Greetings from Bavaria!!!

  • V40 2.0T battery constantly empty, just don’t understand it

Moin love Volvo Community, after my company car is unfortunately not allowed to be a Volvo anymore, we have fortunately still our old Volvo V40 2.0T, BJ 1999 in the family. However, the small moose drives really only rarely, that means the battery is heavily used for the then still coming short drives. Now it has come to the point that I have to bridge it almost every time. If it is not moved every day at least 30km, it was that. The ADAC meant of the values the battery would be ok, it could be a hidden consumer. The interior lights (he used to always care for empty battery) are all off and on the radio I take off the control panel. Can it possibly be a relay that is not disabled at the turn off?? Just how do I go here? Another question: can this bad jump-on (he then always ticks so funny and the engine does not come to, but all the ads go on at the tried start) have something to do with the wedge belt?
